MB = motherboard
the Clevo M570RU/M571RU will get a new motherboard, because the new 8800M GTX has a problem with resuming after a certain sleep-state
it's not a major issue, but if you're getting a machine like this, you better get all the bits at once![]()
the Clevo D900C/D901C will need a new MB to work with the 8800M GTX (in SLI)
more info can be found on several threads around here![]()

So what can you suggest for me ? My budget is around 2000$ - 2200$
Can it be possible to buy a notebook with 8800gts with that budget in a couple of months? -
I think it'll cost a bit more, depending on the other specs
And, just because you don't want to change later, the best advice is to wait a few weeks.
I know: normally one wouldn't wait, cause then he can keep waiting ... but in this case (the 8800) IMO, it's worth it to wait -
By the time maybe I can increase my budget a little bit until that time.
However that time looks like to be like 2 months for me (I think it ll take at least 1.5 - 2 months to buy a notebook with 8800 in Turkey) 8800 looks like to be worth it. -
so would my best bet on getting a 8800 GTX will be from pcmicroworks/rjtech/ eurocom?
-
All of them will have it.
It will come down to:
- your budget
- the vendor that you like -
i want something i can get the best price for. i heard that if you get it from eurocom, you are able to bargain for it?is that true?
-
if you live in the US, check out:
- XoticPC
- RJtech
- PCmicroworks
if you want to get it from Eurocom, you can bargain (contact John there), but they can only budge on models that are not already competitively priced. -
-
i live in CA and ill probably go with Xotic as i want it customized but they dont have the option of customizing the D901C with dual sli 8800 GTX yet so im not sure what my total price will be
-
XOTICPC will have the price out on Thursday. If you can hold of it might work for you.
-
Yea, I`m curious myself as to what the prices will be as opposed to the older 7950GTX versions....
-
thx a bunch.. right now my config will cost me 2200 with standard vga card..so i would say its an additional $1000 so its around 3000.. not a bad deal
-
Why is PCMicroWorks not listed in the list of OEMS?
-
I need to overhaul the entire Guide.... this Winter when I am done with class... until Spring.
-

anyone know the best place to get a clevo in toronto or in ontario?
-
in Canada, the most known is Eurocom.
Or you can order from a US vendor (like XoticPC) and ship it there. -
I was curious the other day and wanted to see how much a laptop with the 8800gtx would cost me. So I priced checked on all the various resellers. I noticed almost all of them offer the same standard set of parts, and four or so had the exact same pricing, except for a few bucks here and there.
I seem to recall the last two time I purchased a Sager laptop (Spring 03, and Winter 06) there was a wider range of prices and components from the various resellers. Now it seems they're all cookie cutters and the only thing that stands out is website design and customer service. Though the latter is real hard to judge, since there's quit a few solid resellers.
The pessimist in me wants to believe the resellers cut a deal with intel and the other companies to only stock the high end parts. While the optomist in me believes that the limited selection in parts helps with stability and also the higher end parts sell more and are what people want.
What exactly happened? And why isn't Gophn a mod? -
They are all the same because they are all selling the same thing . . . Sager notebooks. They don't buy anything directly from manufacturers such as Intel. What other hardware do you want to see offered . . . there really isn't much else available?
-
Does anyone know about a Clevo reseller in Sweden? Or a net reseller that sells Clevo with Swedish keyboard?
I only know of one (in Gothenburg):
www.ggsdata.se -
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Any Sager Reseller or Sager themselves can provide the unit with a Swedish Keyboard.
-
Thank you Deodot and Justin.
I also got this answer from Clevo support in UK:
"We have a major distributor in Denmark DATA TEAM, and some in Sweden FROST ACM and BEST." -
Any GGS-Data Reseller or GGS-Data themselves can provide the unit with a US Keyboard.
-
Howcome Clevo didn't mention GGS (you)? Do you buy from Frost or Best? -
You should add Novatech, a real exclusive and good re-seller!!!
www.novatech.com -
Gophn, do you know if the Australian re-sellers, particularly ITC, re-sell direct from Clevo or do they re-sell from Sager ?
-
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
(2GB DDR2 800 Ram & 802.11n WLAN are Standard on Sagers)
-
On a maxxed system, they're bout $500 more expensive than Xotic it seems
-
I think Clevo should open up a worldwide store online! So everyone can get a quality notebook!
Spread the love! -
Just got a press release from these guys.. http://www.kobaltcomputers.co.uk who have started to sell some Clevo 571RU's. Just had a look and they offer HD and Blu-Ray drives which is quite unusual for the UK.
-
Thought I would relay my purchase experience on my new Sager/Clevo. I looked at every company at the beginning of this guide and did a price comparison on about 6 companies. I narrowed my choices to RJTech and XOTICPC. In the end, XOTICPC won out for what looks like better warranty options and the excellent and quick responses via online chat and email by Justin Woitte. Maybe its not a reflection of typical service, but RJTech was slow to respond to emails (8 days). Pricewise I felt many companies were very similar so service became my first priority -- if I tell a company I am buying a $3000 laptop and they ignore me for a week, what are they going to do after they have my money?
Anyway, I am very happy with XOTICPC. I placed my order on Tues, Jan 15 - the first day for the new Penryn CPUs so I was concerned that might delay the order. The laptop shipped on that Friday and I had it by Monday (I did upgrade to UPS Blue Shipping). The laptop came exactly as specified, and so far, no problems. I also see no dead pixels.
This laptop, a fully loaded (- BluRay) M570RU/NP5793 with Vista Ultimate 64, is very nice. Everyone that has seen it so far is impressed. It feels very solid and well built. I am still working on getting all my apps loaded, but so far everything runs quickly and responsive. The fingerprint reader and integrated webcam work well, better than expected. The integrated wireless (B/G/N) picks up my home network in places where my wife's new HP laptop can't keep the connection. It's a bit heavy but I expected that. The fans occasionally rev up but I've never thought they were too loud.
I also have signed up for all the free stuff you get with Vista Ultimate ( http://www.localpcbuilder.com/) when you buy from a non-Dell/HP. I was surprised that only one of the companies charged for shipping so the stuff (printer, router, access point, ext HDD) is mostly free. Nice perk.
So, in short, this laptop XOTICPC seems like a safe bet to me. Thanks Jason! -
I just want to warn anybody of www.istnc.com
It's a long story, but purely bad experience with them. Increasing price after build, so stay away from them.
Edit: Just to let you know. I've recieved the laptop, and it all seems legit reasons for postponing it. The support all the way from Istnc.com has actually been the truth and i no longer have any reason for them to be negative about them. Their updating and support has been great so feel free to use them. Delivery of laptop took from friday to monday... From North Carolina to Dublin, Ireland. Thats pretty fast. They are doing a good job. -
Thank you for this awesome topic!
EDIT: I'd like it if you would include XoticPC in the "International Clevo Resellers" list as they DO deliver internationally for an additional $223 only. -
Yea, but international shipping goes both ways. Anything goes wrong with your laptop, you pay for shipping both ways: that`s at least 446$ just for a warranty check.
-
Other resellers offer the international shipping at 150.
eleron911, that is not a very good estimate, because you would have to pay for the shipping both ways. Sure, from their place to yours is 223, but what about from your place to theirs? It's not always the same. -
Point taken. I was estimating the minimum cost. I would roughly say 500 $ in my case..
-
I plan on getting a Sager 5793 in the next feew weeks. Pricing and customization has me leaning toward Xoticpc. I plan on keeping the pc for a good long time, just wondering if I should spend the extra $465 for the 8800GTX or stick with the standard 8700GT?
-
Same here
I am purchasing a 5793 ASAP but I dont know where to buy it... -
Try XoticPC or PowerNotebooks. Eurocom it seems to have the smallest prices, but I wouldn't really recommend them.
-
PowerNotebooks... they have higher prices compared to XoticPc but they had some weird options... 1.3MP vs 2.0MP, WLAN and BLUETOOTH cost $175 together !!!!
