That looks nice.
Did you ask for that design? Or did it automatically come like that?
I'd like to have Miss Malevolent on my laptop.

It came like that, which I prefer over an OEM logo. -
Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
I hear that... -
so do we know for 100% that the 9850 does not support OC!? I really cant believe that. No company would make such a mistake right now. With W90 and m17x out, that is a massive let down.
-
until Clevo releases a new BIOS update.
the D900F is getting new test BIOS's now. -
Well, if you keep spending so much time browsing the forums here, we might begin to wonder....
jk - with a reasonable explanation to hand, I don't think anyone doubts that you have it.
-
I was playing crysis warhead and my temp on my second gpu jump until 80 degree Celsius :S
The cpu and first gpu was around 75 degree
Setting was at Gamer and res was 1680*1050
I order a cryo lx. I'll see if the temps get much better -
Did you have the fan on high?
-
The laptop batterie setting was set at performance. So i guess the fan would kick in when it get hot.
how you do that? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Those temperatures are just fine. Anything below 95C is ok...and short times slightly above that is ok too. -
No, you can increase the fan speed selecting Fn + 1
-
like Donald said...
those temps are very good. -
Wow not cool. my 9262 never reaches 80C, even under full load. I do have a cryo nzxt. wierd. Bigger form factor but higher temps.
-
does seem a bit high ....
My 260m GTX never hits 65c while gaming usually 59-61 c -
80 and 75 degrees are considered high now? No.
Also, why are you playing at 16:10 resolutions on a 16:9 LCD? You should be at 1600x900. -
Did you check your fan setting?
-
i hit fn+1 like you say
there only low and high?
no medium? -
you can go low with the fan hotkey and go high with fn+1 .. medium is the default speed I guess.
-
75 is not high but that magic line for me is 80. Thats how I judge a good cooling system. If it goes over that or reaches 80 then its no good. lol. so far only ona laptop in the world was able to achieve that. 9262 ftw!!!
EDIT;
ok guys so I looked at the alienware section and that m18x is actually a very well thought out laptop. GPU.s on the opposite sides of the lappy (keeps the temps down), OC in bios. I kinna like it more then the sager. lol. -
btw, for those who want to overclock the CPU on the NP9850, you can try nTune to play with the FSB and see if that works.
-
hey guys i just ordered one of these
how easy is swapping the cpu out on one? i have a qx9300 i will be taking out of my m17 and putting it in
I assume oc'ing isnt hugley possible on these from the few posts i have read
is that the case? -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Not yet... but once somebody finds the pll number it probably will be.
-
i will have to strip mine down when i get it then
is the mutli available in the bios?
what are the internals like? or no one braved taking thiers apart yet? -
How hard is it to swap out CPUs?
I have the Core 2 Duo T9600 CPU and was thinking of putting in a Quad Core once the prices drops.
Are there huge gains to be had with the quad core? -
very simple to swap CPUs
-
gophn dog!! when are u gonna test the 9850 and properly overclock it!!??
-
that is next... just need to return this D900F first.
-
i posted how to OC the CPU since the chipset is Nvidia
-
thx, mate. Thats really helpful. Especially for gophn as he might need it when he s reviewing the 9850. Without your "how to OC a cpu" I m sure, the review would have never been done properly.
-
ya i saw that moo nice one
its safe to assume that not massive clocks been achieved yet by those who have these?
and im guessing no bios multi even for extreme cpu's? -
No Gophn would of figured it out
-
lol, read the post right before yours
-
Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
Can't wait!!!!! -
oh believe me when i get mine in a couple of weeks i will be mashing out every possible means of overclocking mine
-
Looking forward to the benchmarks.
-
Uh could the M980NU owners please post which OS and which GPU-Drivers they use? Thanks!
-
are you still getting those weird lines in SLI?
-
I have the same cards. I don't count?
I could probably help out with this system.
-
I suddenly wish I could get one of these 18" machines. Have fun guys.
-
Reseller thinks it is my OS which is causing that error. That is why I am asking what OS other people are using. So I can see if the problem really is win7 or not. :/
-
does anyone have the new bios ?
i can´t oc my qx9300 ...
edit: i found the links:
ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M980NU/98NU0303.zip -
the new bios allows overclocking
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
No, no overclocking...see http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5121374&postcount=15
-
That's why I was surprised
I am sure it is possible just requires a little tinkering
-
Where do you go to get a new BIOS?
-
3 post above your .......
-
How do you update the BIOS as there is no winflash?
-
I know that, but where can you check? It's not on the Clevo site, is that because they don't deal directly with consumers?
-
What is it you want to check, Dazman? As you've ascertained, Clevo doesn't deal directly with consumers; however, they do have a small support site that end-users can access. The frontpage for that rump support site is here. Of course, not everything is available from that site, including this particular BIOS update.
If you just want to verify which version of the BIOS you have, you should be able to get the version number of your current BIOS from the System Information applet in _Vista, and then check it against the version number for the BIOS release that's hotlinked above. -
I've already been to the site, but don't see a BIOS listed anywhere as you mentioned.
How do you update the BIOS using the one provided above?
Clevo M980NU aka Sager NP 9850 aka AWESOMENESS!!!
