Looks good to me. How is the responsiveness of the touch controls, particularly the volume? What do you think of the sound? Any feedback on bleeding for the LCD?

Touch controlls work good except the software is kind of annoying. Everytime I restart the sounds of it come back on, havent figured out how to turn it off for good. Also when you press a button it shows you what happend in the upper left corner inside of a "small window".
Touchpad is very sensitive I couldnt install it properly, would like to know if it is possible to turn it off while using a mouse.
Sound is good. No idea what you mean with "bleeding for the lcd".

    Dont have any atm. :/
    Got Bioshock, AssassinsCreed and CoD4...

    occt???

Thanks for the info. I was referring to any potential light leakage with the LCD. For instance, if the computer is on but you set the desktop to a completely black background, how much light is still seen on the display?

I guess a better question is how satisfied you are with the quality of the screen. Is everything crisp and easy to see?

That's approximately what it should be getting with either SLI turned off or after a 3DMark run without a restart. Might sound silly but have you enabled SLI in the NVIDIA control panel?

NP Henry, make sure it's set to single display mode as well as it should really have SLI enabled as standard and if not it might have been set up differently display wise.

Regarding shipping, yes we will be very soon. The chassis shipments have been pretty random this launch, it's a little strange for us as we are usually first in the UK.

:)... I have to say I think the Kobalt logo on the lid would be slightly more interesting than the Novatech one! I have done the review with benchmarks to follow when complete here: http://forum.techpond.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1202&p=25067#p25067

I have also posted it on the NBR forum but seem to remember its against rules to link to it?

Okay, my laptop was configured to Raid, mirroring the other drive. So not knowing too much about Raid configurations I partitioned my drives and it no longer works.

This might be a good thing because the Raid reduces my HDD capacity. So is it safe to delete the data on the second HDD if it is no longer being mirrored?

Yes, just disable raid in the bios. Then your second HDD will simply be extra storage space.

I figured as much. The mirror is nice, but it will soon eat up space.

I guess you can't re-enable the RAID because I partitioned the drives?

You should check out a program called Vista Manager. I'm not one to pay for hardly any software, but I'd gladly pay much more than what they charge. They have a trila version so you can check it out.

Vista Manager is amazing and has way too much to describe here. With that said, it can help you reclaim valuable drive space and makes it easy to reduce the size allocated for restore points.

Also, this app doesn't muck things up like other programs of this type.

Core Duo T9600 (will upgrade later when prices drop)
    4 GB RAM
    2x 320 GB 7200rpm (W/GForce)
    2x SLI GTX 280
    DVD Multi Burner
Windows Vista Home Premium with upgrade to Windows 7.

    Build Quality

Very nice! Yes, it's a finger print magnet, but I like it over Alienware's M17x as it looks and feels expensive. Mine has Celtic on the back lid, which I like.

    Keyboard

It's absolutely fine and the location of the hotkeys doesn't get in the way. The mouse pad isn't the greatest as your finger has a tendency to stick to hit. However, it really doesn't matter because I prefer a mouse.

    Noise

Overall pretty quiet and a bit louder than my ASUS, but the HDDs in the ASUS are only 5400 Rpm, so this is to be expected.

    Screen

Nice and bright and colours are vibrant. Yes, the screen is glossy, but I've adjusted to this because my ASUS also has a glossy screen and quite frankly I prefer this over a matt finish. It also seems very ridged with minimal, if any, flexing.

    Sound

Disappointed here a bit I must admit. Realtek sound card just like the ASUS and I find it rather quite. Some have reported the volume as being above average, but it seems quiet when watching movies.

    USB Ports

These are installed upside down from other laptops, which I found odd.

    Performance

Haven’t had time to test this yet.

What I find odd is that Eurocom shipped a European cord with the laptop vice a North American one, but they have just shipped me a replacement one. This also happened to Nexuscom on this site. In addition to this, I have the sign for the Euro next to the dollar sign on the keyboard. So this came from overseas for sure, so I’m scratching my head on this one.

    Overall I really like it!

The BIOS has it as AHCI vice RAID.

Funny both drives are mirrored but this stopped when I partitioned them.
