I see, thanks. I haven't got the tool for shrinking the heatshrink (unless hairdryer works ) so I guess I'll have to go with electrical tape.

You can just use a lighter to shrink it.

Nice results, it looks like the HM must assign the same ID when it does not recognise the 680M in the Bios. In the same thread I updated with a link to a modded inf for 302.77.. I tried that Driver after people reported it being more stable than 304.79.

I just tested Sleeping Dogs and I get up to 100 fps on normal and high settings with the High Texture DLC enabled. For the first time temps were up to 82C with 99% GPU utilization. However, out in the game world (away from video and cutscenes), temps remain at around 68C.

Hey guys, i man'd up and tried Prema's modded HM3 bios (disabled 3d license) to see if we could get the internal display working on the HM3, still no go :( so at the moment im just using external screen, and am loving this card, if only we could get the screen working!!

On a side note, ive heard about this SVET guy with a modded vbios for 680ms (for clevo?) and was wondering where i could go to get this, im keen to try it out, so far, stock 3DM11 P score is P6072, and max OC before stock throttle kicks in is P6808...

I have the 220watt PSU so am hoping this is sufficient in running the increased volts!

    Cheers

    Could somebody confirm or invalidate the issue with HDMI and 7970M (in a P150HM);
User nasssq8: The HDMI output is not functioning. No signal is pumping through to my external display. Unfortunately this is a kind of limitation of 7970M in P150HM. However, the DVI output is ok and working with no problem. Waiting for some wiz to resolve that issue.

I was really hoping that the 7970M could be conected to 2 screens (both HDMI and DVI) for extending the desktop?
(As I understand, my current card, the 6970M, can only drive one screen at a time?)

The HDMI is not working with 7970m in P1xxHM machines. If you contact Sager support team they will tell you the same. :)

    here is my score:

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,CLEVO P150HMx score: P5702 3DMarks

    max temps was 75 C

however in kombustor it went up to 89 C

    EDIT#:
    Overclock @ 853/2100 Stock vBios

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,CLEVO P150HMx score: P6579 3DMarks

Also I am getting the same sleep issues where you have to hard reboot, IM using 305.68 off of laptop2video

    EDIT#2:

Well it looks like the P150HM idle issue with the MSI bios is confirmed, When i flash saltius it just went up to 324 mhz also tonrac tried a stock voltage msi bios and it still didn't work so I am gonna assume that P150HM users will have to wait for clevo vBios OV version.

Hey Guys - Been reading the forum for ages but havent really posted - Paul from Scotland, UK 34 :) Sorry if this has already been asked, but im sure the exact nature of my question has not been covered :)

I have read so much about it, i cant remember where i read what!

Been trying to get a 7970m from two UK companies now for over a month for my Vortex 2 (P150HM) but they are now both saying that they have no idea of ETA for the card :( - was going to be end of July etc

So i am looking at other options for buying from EU/US :)

Definately going ahead , but from what ive seen in this post a couple of EU users have gone down this route successfully :)

Question is , is there a single based Supplier to the UK for the 7970m, which will work out cheapest and best choice? Have emailed RJ tech, (I think Jaybee got his from them ? ) and am waiting a response, but was wondering if there is any other obvious choices.

Obviously the quicker it gets here , and the less i pay , the better :D

Also, is the card easy to install ? i have put desktop pcs together but never really messed around with laptops :)

Sorry if this is a bit of a hijack, but i have spent so much time trying to get this 7970m, and not sure where to turn!

Thanks for your help again :)

    Paul

I just tried the HDMI output on mine, could not get it to work.

Might be a vbios issue, possibly someone can fix it with mod.

So it seems with these video card upgrades, certain features become unavailable.
Can any hm users with 680m confirm that hdmi output works as I frequently use this.

If you haven't already I would suggest you drop PWN PCS - Custom Built Performance and Gaming Laptops a mail, they are in London.

Mysn.de in Germany also have a good reputation.

Thanks Prema - Funnily enough, was just about to ask if you had any of your 7970m cards left in the UK/Europe?

Also speaking to upgrade monkey, just need to find out if there card comes with the modded Vbios - i know it can be done blind, but for my first upgrade - rather it worked out the box :)

Yeh i tried PWN PCS but they dont have any , or know when they will get any :(

Seems the UK are a bit slow on the uptake :)

Anyway, will hopefully actually make a decision in the next 24 on which to buy, once i have more information :)

    Paul

Just out of interest, any one on here in UK with the card to sell ?

Dead HDMI is a real bummer for me as I stream 1080p vids through my laptop sometimes. I was about to order AMD card, but I guess I'll have to shell out for nVidia...

For anyone who didn't know (like myself), it turns out the reason HDMI out doesn't work with the 7970m is because the "HM" vbios provided for the 7970m is just the standard vbios from the P270HM.
    AMD 7970m - modified VBIOS - Page 15

Also I managed to get my core to 1060mhz (with 1.1V) stable using the modded vbios from svl7.
But I'm running it at 1.075 for now (1030mhz).

Also it looks like the dell vbios will work with the clevo cards, I'm waiting on confirmation on which clevo notebook that was tested on.

I wonder if the dell vbios has a chance of getting HDMI out to work.

guys, got any link for the modded OV Clevo vBios versions from svl7? or would i have to PM him? also, what kind of a OC difference do u see @1.05 vs. 1.075 vs. 1.1 vcore?

    thanks in advance :)

edit: ok, got the link to the respective thread/post ;)

My original voltage was 1v, not 1.05.
And with that I could only get 975 max (and that was hardly stable).

With 1.075 my temps went up about 10C but the core went up to 1030mhz.

1.1v gave me 1060mhz but with another high increase in temps, so for now I can't use it that high.

Also I only overclock my core (for my use the vram clock doesn't make any difference). And because my screen is only 1366x768 I can max out my games at stock clocks.

p150hm :) The Dell vBIOS does work but no HDMI output on that one either and the P270WM vBIOS has better performance at 3DMark with our cards

    Update:

HDMI out issue is driver related!

And thank you for the reply about the temps as well.

It's good to know that it's not just my system that can get a bit hot.
    I have reached 90C with 1.075V today.

Might have to check to make sure there is no dust.

I can confirm, HDMI out works if you uninstall all AMD drivers and software.
I'm in windows now and I have my tv connected through HDMI and it's working.

I'll try to install the old driver that was meant to work with the 6990m.
    Will report any results.

I confirm that the HDMI issue with 7970M is a driver related. The signal stays transmitted all the way up untill the ADM 7970M driver loads. Then the signal is lost .

Also any updates on the hdmi issues with the 7970m and HM series?

I think that Alienware version of the 7970m is working with alienware and msi laptops only. And regarding the hdmi, it is driver related issue and there are no updates on that.

^^^ that is correct, dell cards arent being recognized correctly by the HM embedded controller, thus temp readings are all over the place and the machine shuts down automatically after several seconds (pseudo-thermal-shutdown)

Anyone know how to get the Nvidia drivers to install to my GTX 680m on a Clevo P170HM when running Windows 8 x64?
Tried unmodded and inf edited driver but no dice. :(

    Fixed it.
Seems i had to reboot Windows 8 with to disable driver signature enforcement.
Everything is working good now. :)

Hey man, my 560m idled at around 50-55C . My room temps hover between 24-29C. I rechecked my thermal pads and paste was fine. I used the pea shaped style of pasting and heatsinks were proper too. Hmm, I hope it's not the card... Gaming can get up to low 80s max.

Edit: Nvm, I've been monitoring the temps zealously after re-pasting. Getting 31-34C idle and 75C max while gaming. Good temps I hope :D

If this concerns the 680M: I don't know how the 680M behaves compared to the 580M, but if you run a dual monitor setup with the 580M, the GPU is forced to run at higher clock frequencies (unless you force a downclock with Nvidia Inspector). So instead of idling in the 30s, it'll idle ~50°C.

Can the 680M run at lower clocks (2D Desktop mode) automatically without needing Nvidia Inspector in dual monitor setup?

For all those HM user's that were chatting about the differences in Voltage for flashed 7970m in Hm's, curiously , mine arrived and is only at 0.975. which seems to be even lower than others on here.

Works perfectly at stock, but i guess that will effect overclocking at that low V?
