u said that those stuck pixels only happen with one of the two cards, is that correct? or does that happen with both cards? also, are those stuck pixels always the same ones / in the same area of the screen? should be good to know if its potentially caused by the display itself or not...

I don't know if the pixels are also there with the exchange card - didn't see any if the card was placed in the 2nd time, but i don't really watched after it... Actually the Pixels are everytime on the right side of the panel in 2d, in 3d everything is fine. The appearance is at random time, should be the same position every time, can't count the lines exactly ;)

Before i replaced the burn mark card there were NO Stuck Pixel Problems - they appear since i switched the cards the first time and installed many driver versions, i used driver sweeper everytime.. at GPU-Z i get an error for OpenCL since the first switch, so i think that is a windows/driver issue. Cause they only appear on Windows at the moment.

    Greetings

The display will be card agnostic, they can appear after short periods of use, they may have developed while the machine was off.

tru that, just wondered if those were really stuck pixels or maybe just some weird artifacts caused by a defective gpu.

OK they are on the same position in 2D, looking like artifacts - after refreshing the browser or moving something over them, everything is fine.

Yesterday i have reinstalled the driver for the 7970m in the device manager under windows safe mode - he said "Oh, found a new driver" after i pointed to the AMD Driver location on my HDD, after that i was working/surfing about 30 minutes in windows/browser, played two hours BF3 and was surfing about 30 minutes after - no artifacts, pixel failure.. maybe this is my solution, will keep an eye on it and write in this thread an update ;)

We shall see if the cards are hardware compatible and if there will be an enduro disabled BIOS in case of AMD available (otherwise it's going to be nvidia only).

I would not guarantee anything with mobile upgrades, it should be as they are not radically different, but let's not take it for granted.

    Hi,

still get the artifacts at the moment.. sad.. reseller didn't answer to 12 emails and 15 phone calls with no one on the line till 9th march.. if i don't get an answer till next week thursday, i will go through the police and to an lawyer because of the trickery.
Seems to me, that the burn mark is a part of the RAM controller, so the card will die some day..

    greetings

I would avoid anyone on ebay not accepting paypal.

Since they are a business then it may be worth sending them a legal notice (depending on how your legal system works).

I didn't buy the card on ebay. i bought it from one of the german CLEVO Resellers (for example: mySn, Hawkforce, Deviltech, Notebookguru, MIF..), in my case Notebookguru. My first RMA was very fast, nice email support etc. - then the exchange card is/was faulty and the first contact was fast.. after i denied sending in my Notebook to them, no answer by email, on phone etc.

I also wouldn't buy articles from Shops/Resellers who are not accepting PayPal on ebay.. but in my case i asked the shop for a card exchange + "little" amount extra - so i sended them my 6970 after they sended me a 7970m with payment on delivery (250 Euro). Shipment etc. was very fast, got the card after 24 hours after buying/making the deal. So.. i will contact them again and if they don't answer, i will take my rights and get to a lawyer to wright a legal notice.

At the Moment i think maybe it is only a driver / windows issue.. next week i have holidays, so i will reinstall windows and look after it. If the problems are still there, i will try the exchange card with a new vBIOS (that from my burn mark card) cause the exchange card is using 1.05v instead 1.0v - maybe the card don't like that or the used vBIOS maybe faulty.

Lol I did it with a tiny electronics iron, the trick is to melt some solder on the tip and apply it to the blob, you then have much better heat transfer and it should melt.

Deleted all AMD/ATI Stuff from the Notebook by hand  .... then reinstalled 13.3 Beta 3 - no problems at the moment. OC'ed the card to 925/1200 to check Performance - no BSOD or something else, nice temps about 72 °C after 3 runs of 3dmark11 and 3dmark(13) ... keep an eye on it ;)

a new toy will arrive today - my first NAS, have to buy a nice hdd this afternoon for the NAS, got a two bay but i will upgrade to a second hdd later.

    EDIT:

    1. no problems at the moment, card performs very well, no failures - also if i OC the beast to benchmark with 965/1250 ;)
    2. NAS runs very well - my internal 1 TB HDD is empty now *haha*

There are more reserves that i thought.. at the moment i run the beast @ 0,975v with no OC, but 950/1250 seems to be stable. Temps are @ nice 66 to 69 °C without the foil mod ;)
ASUS GPU Tweak works enchanting :)

7k is awesome enough for that Price ;) if i would bought the 680m, i would Not OC it very much for benchmarking or for 24/7 - similiar to my 7970m, she is Running Stock clocks at the Moment and is only oc'ed for doing Benchmarks.

But "oooovvvvvveeeerrrrrrr 9000!!!!!" for an mobile gpu is very nice, guess the Points if you have sli ;))

temperatures are so great, but there's no memory overclock, overclocking memory negatively affect longevity, it is best to overclock Core @ 1Ghz and memory 1200 and is ideally

    edit:
Memory does not add gpu score, but minimal points edit : maybe my system is the problem?

So we must find the best solution between GPU Core Clock and RAM Clock - i recognized the same problem at my machines! With 5850M, 6970M, 7970M and the Desktop 6870. There is a point, were overclocking the RAM don't get any points. The problem is the AMD Card/Driver i guess, cause with NVIDIA Cards you don't have that problem. AMD cards may only perform well with high core clock and a bit overclocked RAM, cause there seems to be a clock cap for the RAM

Played BF3 since my last Post, max. Temp @ 66°C at the moment, no OC.

I taped the whole copper fins both sides, closed all gaps so that the air must stream directly through the copper. I didn't look after the fins if they are shifted to each other, maybe more decrease in temps are possible? Also i taped it so thick, that the aluminium foil is reaching the backplate - the Laptop stands also on a Zalman NC3000s with vent on max. but it is a big vent so you don't hear anything ;)
