Haha, I love those scores guys, really nice and impressive even compared to desktop 7870 cards. Don't forget to take the back off, add ramsinks and get some airflow :p

    Haha Meaker ;)

But is it worth to put some ramsinks on the GPU/CPU plate? I had a max. temp of 69°C with OC to 980/1400 Mhz, i think this is quite good :p

that would be a definitive "yes and no" :p

combining ramsinks with direct airflow definitely improves temps, whereas ramsinks with the stock airflow prolonges the time it takes to reach max. temps but does not actually lower them.

well, since those ramsinks are dirt cheap, it can never really hurt to order some for urself from ebay and just check them out ;) theyre like 8-10 bucks for 8 pieces...

LOL! Maybe i put some racing stripes on the backside of the screen - hope it will end in a refresh rate decrease to 120 Hz! Seems legit.. ;)

Did some Desktop designing - GPU Meter works with started PC Meter in the Background so you can see the temps without an extra tool like gpu-z or hwinfo..

wrong idea but not faster chip , clock chip adequate to @ 100W limit ,
then to the euro price is absurd for GTX, GTX is just the one price on the two AMD CF, the principle is the performance must be adequate to the price

Yeah but I have 900mhz 1.35V chips running at 1367mhz (for now) while you have 1250mhz 1.5v modules running at 1300mhz. :D

I'm simply talking about the graphics memory.

I don't care what you do with a single 7970M core, it's not going to touch a 680M at 1140mhz :p But that's not the point here. :p

I change the system every year, the cost 2xGTX ~ $ 1500, $ 1k 2xAMD, in the three years I have a whole system of Free, and I'm always on top :), everyone has a different profile , some people like to green and the other red

I don't know why you still think I am commenting on your choice of card?

I am simply stating your graphics memory speed is slow, you should maybe look into raising it but looking at some of your later shots I see it at 1360mhz, is this your max?

Just curious as I am well aware of the price disparity and the performance, I have owned 2 7970M cards myself after all.

    1450MHz for two No 847
    is still a reserve. ;)
I think that around 1500 MHz that were very real, but not risk that and find the stable or not

A nice tweak for those without switchable graphics actually :) No point if the card is turning off (2nd card when idle) but your primary card will consume less power.

No voltage control in the MSI means nothing over 4.2-4.3ghz :(

You could actually get a 3840qm doing the exact same thing as mine at the moment, though I get some extra TDP room (65/80 vs 55/70 when the TDP boost is applied).

Hi, i have a clevo p150hm and i want to upgrade my GPU from 6990m to 680m. I searched ebay or other websites but didn't decide which one to buy. Could anyone help me with this? I live in Turkey, which resellers i can choose to buy that card? And also when i make the purchase, the modified inf files are enough to make the card work in my system, right?

And one more thing, the GTX780M and 8970M are coming. Do you think that those cards might work with P1xxhm, too? And is it worth waiting for GTX 780M, considering the high price of 680M?

I am in the same boat as you and my advice is wait and see what happens i.e. don't commit to purchase just yet

Wow, great work here! I'm thinking of upgrading my 8150 with a 485m to a 680m myself. Just a couple of questions :
Are the heatsinks of the 485m compatible with the 680m?
Is a 180w psu enough to oc this card with a 2630 qm?
I know the 680m is double the 485m's performance in benches, but how big are real gaming fps gains?
Lastly, does it perform as well as a comparatively specced em model?
    Tia :)

Does anyone know if the 780m works yet? Really want that GPU Boost 2.0 but will settle for a gtx 680m if I have to.

Also I tried reading this thread to figure out what upgrading would entail but must have missed it. What do I need to do when upgrading from a 6990m to a GTX680m or possibly 780m? I was reading about modified bioses and the like and was a bit lost. Thanks

no bios modding necessary on ur machine when upgrading to a 680m :) its pretty much plug n play, just make sure to install the modified driver .inf files provided in this thread (among others, u can also check laptopvideo2go.com for modded drivers) and u should be good to go ;)

prema & co. are still working out the kinks in the system bios of the older models in order for them to support the 780M. thus far it only works on the new SM models and the P570WM.
