    Would if I could, but at 1.325ghz (5.3ghz data rate) I wont be getting any more out of the mem (low voltage samsung 1.25ghz modules).

    small info update:

    - idle temps are in the high 30s, under load it reaches 77-81°C (after 20 min. of kombustor with max. settings)
    - in benchmarks and games it usually stays in the high 60s to low 70s
    - im not sure if its just my imagination but i really have the feeling that my machine got much quieter ever since upgrading to the 7970M. the fans dont spin up as frequently :)
    - wasnt able to figure out how to downclock the card past the regular idle clocks of 300/150 core/mem, but seeing that it doesnt switch to 3D clocks when i browse or watch videos (like the 485M would do and unnecessarily heat up the system if i hadnt severely downclocked the 3D clocks) i dont think its really necessary :)

    all in all very happy with this card so far! but just to be on the safe side ill hold on to my 485M a few weeks longer before selling it on ebay. dont wanna risk being left without an alternative in case the 7970M decides to give up on me :p (more than enough NBR users out there with bricked 7970M/680M cards only days/weeks after they received them ;) )

    cheers

    PS: hm, still need to check the idle/load wattages, totally forgot about that! will keep u updated :)

    PPS: if anyone wants to know - im running the Catalyst 12.7 Beta 7900 Mod drivers. they run without a hitch, i really recommend them :)

    Your GPU score 7311 seems identical to my result @853/2400 with GPU score 7326 tho, did you make a GPU-Z log while benchmarking? You might want to find out if it has downclocked or throttled during benchmark.

    @853/2400: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P7176 3DMarks

    This one is @853/2200 with GPU score 7239: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P7098 3DMarks

    With 49MHz more increase in core, 902/2200 should really score more than GPU score 7311.

    Also mine was throttling due to stock voltage at core 915MHz and downclocked to 893MHz during the run, that's why I said better make a GPU-Z log and check if the clock was throttling during the run.

    Hey SetFire, try 1037(+135MHz)/2400MHz (+200) and see what you get. Atleast up the memory to 2400Mhz and see.

    no issues so far with utilization, at least none that ive noticed. only thing i see is that the card takes its time to switch to 3d clocks from idle (few seconds), but thats actually quite handy cuz it would stay in idle during normal usage no matter what :) and in games, once it switched to 3D clocks it stays there as it should.
    as mentioned before, due to the lack of switchable graphics the 7970M runs like a charm on the HM machines :)

    Dear All,
    After almost 5 years of great service I sold my xps 1730 with 8800m SLI and yesterday placed an order of the clevo/Santech n77 (15'6 led) with the following specs:

    i73820qm
    Gtx 680M
    Ram 8gb 1600
    Centrino n6300
    HDD 500gb 7200 (will be soon replaced by a crucial m4 256gb)

    I hope to get it soon, did I order the right config? knowing that 4/5 years is what I would like to keep it for (as I did with my DELL xps);

    I would love if it will allow me to play for the next 4/5 years at decent settings;
    I choosed it as I believe the CPU will last as the Gpu (with 4gb vram!);

    I will play cities xl, next sim city, GTA V, witcher 2, alan wake, skyrim and new games such rpg, stragegy, simulation;

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts;
    Any Suggestion?

    Regards

    Hey guys, quick question for anyone who has a 7970M and is able and willing to modify the voltage of their card to quickly test something for me. Can someone perhaps undervolt at 3D clocks to 1.00V and see how much, if any, that decreases their overclocking headroom on the core compared to stock voltage? Still trying to figure out why my card operates at 1.00V @ 3D clocks, but also curious if it is even worth the time. Only reason I care is to try and push my core further than 935, which is as high as I can get at 1.00V.

    still waiting for the confirmation email of my registration at techinferno so i can download and check out the 7970M vBIOS patcher/editor :p no idea why it takes them so long for a stupid email.....
    anyways, even tho that tool has only been tested with the dell vBIOS so far id like to try and see if it would read out and modify the clevo vBIOS correctly. that way we could easily change clocks and voltage and flash it via ATI Flash :)

    cheers

    PS: if anyone already has a membership at techinferno or maybe gets a registration more quickly than i do, please download the vBIOS patcher here and make it available for us! would be much appreciated :)

    PPS: on second thought, i could just send svl7 a PM and ask for a copy of it :p haha

    Its not the 4 gigs of vram that will help it last, it's the power of the core.

    Already flashed with custom Vbios. Outstanding job by RJtech.

    Hi,

    after flashing svl7 modified bios and playing skyrim on 1080p and everything maxed out.

    74 C max temperature and still lots of additional overclocking potential

    The frame rate seems to be locked at 60fps though.

    Hello Jaybee83,

    Just played crysis 2 and sniper elite2 with 1031 Mhz=solid rock.

    I didnt try the full OC potencial. For now 1031+1502 with stock voltage.

    Using Afterburner 2.2.3 with altered:

    UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1

    Vsync should not be activated at least in skyrim. I have to check the nvidia driver.

    Its a modded version of the MSI 680m Bios and working like a charm. (no bouncing clocks as far as I have seen)
    Its modded for 935 Mhz Core Clock and 1800 Mhz Memory Clock (will try to up the core clock +135 max and the memory clock +... the next couple of days) supposedly 1,07 V but max voltage in Skyrim was 1,062 V

    Like I said max temp so far 74 C (but used a laptop cooler with fans - dont know how much that would help)

    I was looking at this: Samsung Semiconductor Product Selection Tool

    The graphic DRAM on the GTX680M is K4G20325FD-FC04 which has 2 speed bins, 900 for 1.35V and 1250 for 1.5V, but not sure if it's 1.35V or 1.5V on the Clevo GTX680M, is there any way to check it? If it runs at 1.5V then 2500MHz all the way I guess ;).

    Hehe we should get its memory clock to run at where it should have been :p Since NVIDIA only provides the chip, Clevo produce the PCB and also implements the graphic DRAMs, the 1800MHz is just a reference memory clock speed quoted by NVIDIA, it's possible that it's capable of having more than that on its true default memory clock ;) (If it's running 1.5V of course)

    You should be able to measure it directly using a DMM. Some good places would be at the inductors.
    But I don't know which points would give you the Vcore and which would give the Vmem. But I'm sure someone can point them out in a photo.

    Just solder some wires to those points so that you can always check while the notebook is running.

    Although I wouldn't do that to my new GPU, not until it's at least had a year of use out of it.

    I wonder if you could somehow make a plate with heatpipes that could transfer the extra heat from those bottom vrams to the existing vram cooler.

    well u could measure the voltage on the backside of the GPU, which is not under a heatsink anyways.

    aduy has a good point tho, if one could somehow some extra vRAM heatsinks on the backside ram chips u could possibly improve ur OC level ;)

    I know it's not a viable option, but if you solder wires onto the gpu you could have the heatsink on while doing the testing.

    Again it's something I wouldn't do unless you're trying to break a record.

    And I'm very glad that the 7970m doesn't have vram on the back of the card.
