Rock can be removed from the UK list as they ceased trading over a year ago.

Hi guys, are there any european resellers active on this board?

I have to buy a notebook and it's gonna be a clevo, almost certainly the w550 or the w650 if i'm correct, since I need a 15" IPS display.
I'm going for a light config, I use it for web design and some graphic design. i5 4210m, 8gb ram, 240gb ssd, the best wifi card available. and I don't want to go over 850 euros

so far the vendors that have machine that meet my criteria in europe are
PCSpecialists (but I'm not fond of their rma policy which is 3 years of labour but only 1 year for parts when the european law says it must be at least 2 years. plus they offer 30 days dead pixel guarantee with carriage costs but only for uk and I'm in italy. and lastly the ips screen isn't available until 15 of may, damn! ),
    linux-onlineshop.de
    mysn.co.uk
syspack.com (which is italian and it should probably be added to the main list of this thread. In my case they have some parts to be ordered too so again this would be a problem)
Raionbook.com if they have my model (I sent an email).

I'm leaning towards mysn.co.uk even if pcspecialists has a slightly better price but I have those concerns about the warranty.

where can I find in the forum opinions about the reliability of these vendors?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but one last thing: considering to keep the laptop updated for as long as possible, should I go for a discrete gpu or using the integrated one in the haswell cpus will be sufficient if I'll later upgrade to their top models when the prices will drop?

    Thank you guys.

AT LAST! sorry had to get that of my chest.

you are one of the first members that have actually commented about their very misleading warranty which i have been bringing to the attention of members for the last 2 years or so.

    ok back on track.

dont worry about asking questions as thats why we are here.

i can highly recommend mysn who have a UK, De and EU office.

you can check out the resellers feedback thread > Sager Reseller and Clevo Reseller Forum, Sager Laptops

ive not seen that actual model so best to wait for others to advise.
will you be gaming at all or is it mainly for work?

    Hi

The UK website sales area doesn't actually cover Italy, but our EU website and sales office does. You can contact them at the same address as the .co.uk site but just change this to .eu!

The standard warranty covers all parts, labour and shipping both ways Europe wide, so you won't ever need to pay for any warranty claims or support - or even arrange the shipping as we do all this for you!

You can find lots of feedback on companies in the Reseller Feedback Forum

I'm not allowed to post a link to the website or email address on the forum due to reseller rules, but if you look at the Contact US page on the mysn eu website you can contact the sales office and ask any further questions that you may have!

you will have to do a search through all the suppliers in the first post of this thread.
even though in EU which country are you from as that can help members advise.

    Hi,

I come from Italy, but I can't stretch my budget to fit the offer I had been proposed by one of the two shops in the list:

    Intel Core i7 4810MQ,
    x2 4GB RAM
, Hard Disk SSD 120GB mSata,
    Wireless N 300 mbps Intel N7260 + Bluetooth

    1240 euro

Pheraps you can suggest me a i7 cpu which does not cost me an arm and a leg (~400 euro)

Does it make sense or I can beat this offer? My goal was to remain in the 900 < budget

    thanks

I had received another offer, same as before, excepted the processor, which is now a Core i7 Mobile 4700MQ 4 Core 2.4Ghz Socket G3:

    Intel Core i7 4810MQ,
    x2 4GB RAM
, Hard Disk SSD 120GB mSata,
    Wireless N 300 mbps Intel N7260 + Bluetooth

    1080 euro

    please share your idea

what laptop was you looking at and especially which graphics card. also what was the main things you will be doing with it, ie gaming, cad work, photo video editing etc.
the more info you can give the more advise can be given.
900 euros or under might be stretching it though.

    Hi, thanks for the help.
Basically, I would like something small and powerful enough to bare with games such as Battlefield 4 and Arma3. In this sense, I was an enthusiastic user of Acer 573G
    ( Acer Aspire V5-573G-74508G50akk NX.MCEEG.004 W8 (Article no. 90520299) - Laptops / Notebooks - computeruniverse )
However, I had been refunded by Acer after less than one year because Acer uk doesn't have a proper LCD replacement for the screen, which broke in a very short time.

I loved weight (2 kg), slimmess, and the power/ price ratio. Also, the screen and sound quality were absolutely fantastic.

I don't want to buy another 573G tough because the 15.6" screen was too big. Now I am looking for something similar, with smaller diameter for a comparable price (900 euro <). I really loved the slim design of my previous acer but I understand it can be really unfeasible to fit a m860 inside a sleek body without paying a relevant price.

I would say my necessities are 70% work (simulation programs such as matlab) and 30% media / games

    Thanks

trying to keep it below 900eu might be a bit tricky and if your sure you want a clevo which i guess you do as youve posted in this thread then take a look at this:

    from mySN EU Shenker 14" S403GT mySN.eu | XMG | Schenker Technologies - Schenker S403 14" Ultrabook
    base price of 770euro
    comes with nvidia 745M graphics

    upgrades
    i7 4500U dual core
    8gb ram
standard hard drive, wireless, these can all be upgraded at a later time.
    2 years warranty
you will need to add operating system but the price without is 905euro

i have not seen this laptop in person before but hopefully others can advise.

    hope that gives some idea.

Thank you for your help. I run several simulation with the link you provided and I am still unsure. My acer 573G offered the m750 in a incredibly slim case for 799 euro: seems that I can't get close to it with clevo :(

the slimmer the case the more heat it will produce so its a power verses size option.
if the acer has that spec then stick with it.

Could anyone tell me if the Clevo barebones come with the LCDs pre-fitted or it depends on the reseller? I basically want to know if I'll be getting the same screen if I ordered the same clevo laptop from different resellers. A recent run-in with a bad AUO screen has made me very particular about laptop lcd screens!

    Thanks.

    Hi apakhira ,

yes usually the screen is fitted with the barebone.

Depending on what was ordered at the Clevo factory it can be a very different screen (IPS, FHD etc...)

    Hi,

    concerning the german resellers:
seems that Hawkforce has some problems - on german forums they speculate about them being bankrupt...
Since a month or so the website says that they have technical problems, but even if they have they would find another way to sell their stuff within a month...

And notebookbarebone.de is closed because of maintenance since june...

More than two, with the rough concurrency, a lot of little resellers can't survive:
Before they were only two actors in the industry (alienware and Clevo)
Now, they are six (Alienware, Clevo, MSI, Gigabyte, Aorus, Razer) and some cheaper models (like some Msi GT60 at 1300€ ;) have democratise the gaming laptop universe ... but have killed these little reseller.

    In germany:
-there is a lot of complaint about deviltech that take very long time to refund his client.

    In france:
Ordinateur Portable sur mesure NiceNotebook Clevo Compal - Core 2 Duo - Durabook TwinHead ToughBook Panasonic Shuttle xPC and http://overam.net/ : Do you really buy a laptop with core 2 duo or core i 7 first generation ? ;)
    http://v2.invasion-shop.fr/ (invasion-Labs) closed :(

    Hi Rupp3r,

I bought two GTX 680m from them and my P177SM-A, too.
They are slow in communication and delivery may take a bit longer than others, but as far as I can say, they are trustworthy.

    Hello Tirenz

Thank you for your feedback, I am not surprised since they didn't answered me since a few days already.

I am looking at buying a P170 with a 980M and a basic configuration (4710, 8GB DDR, without HDD or with a 500GB 7200rpm and without OS or other stuffs) and excepted One.de, almost all resellers are at about 1900€ which is damn expensive... considering that they charge 200/300€ more for the 980M compared to the 880M which is still available... I don't want to pay more than 1700€ for this configuration which is a fairly price for me..

Mysn replied me and they won't do any price match. One.de answered me and they look quite serious. The only big issue is that they only offer german keyboard. I already have a UK on mine and I a often switching between UK and FR keyboard so I am a little bit bothered to have a DE one... Do you know some places where I could buy clevo keyboards?

    Thank you

You can buy the laptop from One.de and buy the keyboard from mySN, cost around 40-60€ delivery included iirc.
