Well, some of us had systems that died within a week. Others had memory recognition issues.

I am still unsure of the temps. At first, they seemed fine. But no one truly knows which temp AMDGPUCT is reading as the GPU because there are 3 temps listed, with two of those decent and one hit 95C in furmark.

Just not sure I feel like taking a risk at this point when the W870 has the GPU I want ;)

The G73 was the only system with the 5870 until now :D

So there will never be a crossfire with 5870s?

    Not from Clevo resellers.

Maybe when the M17x gets them.

This is why I am not so sure the X8100 is going to get 5870's, at least not for a while.

Aye, the 5870m supports crossfire, but it depends on who manufactures the cards on whether it actually has the connector etc!

Of course the GPU supports it.

I was just trying to say that Clevo's, for right now, will not see any CF action ;)

I really hope they will be announcing better GPUs for the X8100 at Cebit, don't want SLI GTX 285M! :( Anymore news on this matter?

Purely speculation as no one knows whats going to come out in the future. All we can say is that it is likely that Nvidia will come out with a new card to beat the 5870, this could be anytime after Cebit (1 week or 1 year). There have been some speculation as to the name but nothing of solid proof. Like I said above no one knows what the future hold so we don't have the answers.

Wow that's a shocker. I was certain it would have it and eventually be included with the X8100. Any idea if the X8100 will get the 5870s eventually? Guess I'll have to pay Dell's overinflated prices if/when they are released..bummer.

If Alienware were to get Crossfire HD5870 I don't see how Clevo could handle that with SLI GTX 285M in the X8100. Clevo must be getting something soon (at least near May/June), they just must! :p

I am grabbing one and Moo is also... Im sure many will still opt for the G73 since it offers quite a bit of bang for the money ... I have a CPU and 2 HDs so all i needed was some RAM and i now have that on the way ....

Hi, I'm new but thought after reading all 17 pages of posts that I should just say that I just ordered a Sager(built on the Clevo) with the 5870 and when I get it next week I will be glad to post bechmarks and temps. If there are any specific one's you guys want done that haven't been done yet just let me know. Also just wanted to say that I ordered mine through Xoticpc, and they were great the most helpfull people I think that I have ever worked with.

Congrats, I am placing an order for mine in a few minutes. I was going to wait for Cebit to be over but by the time it ships I can cancel I guess if anything new comes out and looks worthwhile.

I doubt anything much more exciting then the 5870s will be coming anytime soon... There will certainly be other manufactures using these cards in fancier machines though but the barebones price of these is just to hard to pass up on...

I just had the M17x R2 and it was a beauty but WAY to loud for my tastes :)..

G73 is a very nice machine but the GPU temps and just overall issues with the machine had me a bit concerned so that went bye bye also ....

This machine seems like it should be solid and yet affordable.. I can live without the backlit keyboard even though i enjoy them ... I would like a tad more battery life though :)...

Yeah everything is already there... Only thing im not certain of is if it has 3 wires or just 2 ?.... I forgot to ask earlier when i was on the phone with my reseller ... Im putting in a Intel 5300 so i was not to worried either way since i had one kickin around.... Though a 6300 would be nice down the road...

Agreed.... CF HD5870 or a new Nvidia card in SLI. Tbh if they manage to make a new Nvidia card that is about equal to the HD5870 I would rather have that. Had quite a few bad experiences with ATI cards and always had problems with their drivers for the games I play, for example CSS (and yes I know they have promised to get better at their driver support, but I don't believe it before I see it!) :p

It really surprises me that Clevo went with the 5870, after completely ignoring the Mobility 4800 series. I can't help but wonder why they did this, if there is a new, all powerful Nvidia mobile GPU with imminent release.

Part of me says, "They wouldn't."

Congrats and welcome. I'm new too :D

I'm about ready to order the Sager 8690 from XoticPC and the only thing I am worried about is the heat/noise level of the laptop. I need a laptop that plays games very well but I also can't have a laptop that is very loud in class and is a huge distraction (noise level wise). Did you get the Sager 8690? Reading your review would sure help me but I don't think I can wait that long :(

Yeah i dont think they would have went with ATI either had there been something comparable coming from Nvidia anytime soon....

Clearly they wanted to go up against Asus to some degree and while the 285 is a nice card its still no 5870 especially since everyone has DX11 on the brain ....

Ye worries me also, I dont think they would havepatched things up with ATI unless they had no other alternatives I.e the new Nvidia series. I think we will be waitng a little longer for that one.

Seeing alot more resellers offering the 5870 as an option is making me sick lol, just bought my 8690 with the 285M cant be bothered sending it back for a refund though. It will do fine until Nvidia bring out something maybe later in the year, Q3 or something.

The day after I order a Clevo W860CU from RJTech with the ATI card, XoticPC and Gentech both have the option for the Sager with ATI available. My customization came out to around 60 dollars less on their sites than RJTech's. Too late to cancel now as well since I just checked my credit card and RJTech took the money already. Oh well. Looked like Xotic and Gentech had better warranty options too.

Any big differences between the Sager and Clevo models are they virtually identical? Thanks.

So, essentially, sager == clevo :)

Deffinatly do it yourself! Its a rip off getting them to do it and secondly they might not even do it properly.

Regards the Shin Etsu, its notroiously hard to apply, although I have done it on desktops a couple of times this was my first time applying to a Laptop and it took me a couple of trys :D After talking with a couple of the higher ups here on NBR I found the best way to apply was dot and pressure method.

I played Batman AA for over an hour and CPU/GPU never went above 60*C I dont have anything to comapre it to but I would say this is a good paste the 0.5g was very generous and alowed me to coat the CPU and GPU twice with some to spare.

If you are a little worried RE applying the patse then I have heard nothing but good things about MX-2 (easy to apply) and IC Diamond.

As a footnote if you need any help just PM me.

Shin-etsu is the best, but is pricey and hard to find.

I'd go with MX-3 or OCZ freeze. I have MX-3 and it is my preferred TIM.

    How loud is the D900F?
Also, how can the new version of it have SLI/XFIRE and a desktop CPU?(x7200) If the x7200 is confirmed anyway.
