I think Mandrake explained it above, its not an overclock, the system just notes the highest reached clock speed. Not all cores are at 3.0 Ghz. Hope thats what you wanted to know.

I would have done it for $100
So $80 is well worth the price of admission IMO. -

Not bad quead I think I only reached mid 6k with my 285M and 720. Isnt vantage CPU dependant ?
-
3dmark06 is very CPU dependent. Vantage is less so.
-
Thanks for clearing that up Blacky

fluffy: how bad was it to apply the x23? Any tips to make it easier? I got some for my cpu and gpu.
-
Ye I will make a new thread with tis and opinions and post a link for you here.

Here you go Rancid as promised:

In my opinion you get what you pay for, the X23 although requires alot of concentration to apply and may get you a little annyed at times lol if you not use to applying. The results make up for all of that. -
I ordered my W860CU the day they were available with the 5870's and my order just reached the production phase yesterday. How are you guys getting your laptops already? Or are you using a whole different model? I ordered the Sager NP8690 from XoticPC on 3/3

How big a difference is it in price to assemble it yourself?
-

Hmm, I'd like to build it myself for fun (I've only ever assembled desktops though), but since I'd need to purchase most of the parts from the US and have my aunt (who knows very little about computers) bring them back here, well, it might not be a very good (nor safe) idea.
She's not coming back 'til the start of May so I'm not in a big hurry to buy this (still deciding between W860CU and W870CU). Hopefully there'll be a price drop or some new tech by then. -
The W870CU is very cheap in barebones form
Check my review -

Both laptops are cheap in barebones form, but add the CPU, GPU, RAM.. and it gets expensive.
I'm leaning towards the W870CU with the 720QM. That's about as high as I can go.I only really want a 15 incher, but I assume the advantages of the W870CU's size justify it's price? I hope so!

Watch it .....
My benches will take a little while to get done but so far I've reached
965/1115
These cards are made with better pcbs and materials so less impedence =hover clocks and more stability
If I could only get the card overvolyed. ..I can't dump. The BIOS ... -
Holy crap that is amazing. I wonder if the W860CU can handle those clocks.
Looks like I'm going with the W870 after all.
You guys are even embarrassing some models of the 5770. -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Shame these aren't available in Crossfire yet. With these sort of clocks, they'd be ruddy amazing for a mobile platform. As it is these things are really giving it all, I'd imagine minimum FPS with these cards clocking like this is much better than the G92 based solutions.
With those clocks, you're also likely beating a desktop 4870 in performance by a good few percent, as well as the 5770! -

My self imposed deadline to order is April Fools Day unless there is some major announcement. -
Ill be getting the 8690 with the 5870 probably within a month, when it gets here Ill try overclocking the 5870 and seeing how far it goes.
Are there any problems that I might encounter by overclocking in the 8690 ? -
Check out Kobalts GTX285M Vs 5870 benchmark graphs here, nice clear results
Kobalt's default GPU selection for the G860/G870 are the ATI 5870 now, it will cost an extra £37 to go with the GTX285M too. -
I averahe 22 FPS in crysis EVERY THING ON VERY HIGH in the benchmark @ 910/1125

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8760...stom-gaming-laptop-p-2660.html?wconfigure=yes
$1859 for np8760 with a 5870, but it comes without windows, has only 4GB ram and 320GB hdd.. sucks compared to asus -
Barebones if you have the parts.
If not, then yes it will be more than the Asus (but worth it IMO). -
You get what you pay for -
That, and 8 GB RAM is overkill.
-
-
Moo, what idle temps are you getting with your notebook (both CPU and GPU)? Thanks.
-
high 40's ........
-
Damn, how do you get such low temps?
Mine are below 60 (on a flat surface) but not as low as yours...
-
I repasted my CPU and GPU
-
Although I don't have the 5870, my idle temps for the GPU and CPU are also in the 40's. My HDD also idles at 30C, maxes out under load, for example defragging at 40C.
-
How much battery life will you get with the HD 5870 now?
-
50 minutes -60
-
-
ym i would love to see what review your talking about ......
I have not underclocked or anything I feel no need -
Undervolting really works for saving battery life if you do not use your laptop in power saving mode. In power saving mode the CPU will use the lowest voltage possible all the time. You might save something by undervolting the GPU, but that's 10 minutes at max.
Does anyone have CLEVO with HD5870 ?
