man poor naticus it maybe deeper then bios and vbios, but for your sake i hope doxie's vbios brings a glimmer of hope to your problems.
-
-
And just to let you guys know, I had problems before about flashing also. I had errors and stuff. Be sure to flash ur bios with .08 off the clevo site also, just in case the eurocom one is different. -
Is it normal that I can't find any official drivers for the 8800m GTX :s
-
yeah, sortof check here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
latest one out that supports 8800MGTX is 174.82. which i am using and currently very decent -
-
hmmm.. Doxie, I upgraded from 167.44 to 174.82 an got over 350 less 3d marks :-/
Game performance seems unchanged
I think Ill go back to 167.44, or does anyone have any other suggestions for a better driver? -
-
-
-
are you using XP?
-
I'm first gonna check 3dmark score with stock drivers. -
Does anyone know why my fraps wont show more then 60 FPS?
-
okay.... so what's the best driver for this GPU at the moment ? One that offers the best performance so far.... ?
-
I think I must be doing something wrong with these drivers. I have tried 174.82, 174.74 and 167.40 now, and always my benchmark scores are only just 9000, which is quite a bit less then my stock 167.44 @ 9362.
Any ideas? :-/ -
dang, now even my stock driver is giving me those low 3d mark scores... did I break something? I always uninstalled old drivers before installing new ones.
-
I'm getting +- 9000 with default drivers, is this ok or not?
-
seroiusly the 167.44 is adequate thats all, i have noticed peformance improvements in all my games. I admit i have less score on 3d mark 2006 with these but idc, i notice image quality improvements, bug fixes and performance.
as long as they perform well in real games i'm happy. -

Hi,
for me 174.82 work great and I get highest 3D Mark06 score: 9184 against 9105 with 167.44, also Crysis is faster around 2fps. I'm working on Vista HP 64bit and my spec. are: T9300, 8800mGTX, 4GB RAM 667, 200GB 7200rpm. Bios .08 and vBios .14. Unfortunatelly I can't overclock or flash new vbios I think it's because of Vista 64bit. I'll wait for wise guys to solve it -
Well, how are the new 174.85 drivers here ?
-
I understand that Doxie, but judging just by the 3dmark scores I know that I must have done something wrong, installing new drivers must have caused some setting to change or whatever, because when I go back to 167.44 I am still missing those 350 marks. This causes me to think that whatever went wrong is also affecting the new drivers - and I have no idea how to fix it.
Cant do a system restore, cause I kinda missed that it was disabled in stock hehe -
yes. the best way to install a new driver is to follow these steps:
uninstall via add and remove programs.
restart into safemode and run driver sweep (download for free)
restart into windows
and install using have disk method
doing it this way prevent different drivers conflicting with one another.I had same probs as u discirbed where by i lost like 400 points on stock or updated driver. After using above method i am now ok -
for driver sweep, theres 2 Nvidia drivers which I can remove. Do I only remove the display driver or also the other one? - Nvidia chipset
Thank you very much -
This is some handy tool: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us
For me it says:
NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX
167.43
Alienware requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.
You can find more information at: http://www.alienware.com/. -
-
thank you again
well I just tried all that, and im still missing my 3d marks. Could it be something else? maybe something to do with some settings that my reseller had done, but which got lost cause of the new drivers?
I dunno, it doesnt matter too much I guess, since games still work alright - crysis all very high 1400*1050 without patch 1.2 runs at 11 FPS.
Im still just wondering which tweak I lost -
174.85 sucks for me, losing much FPS in game and in 3dmark, normally the first graphics test I get +-60 fps and now it was 20 :s
I just ran 3dmark06 and my points are only half I had with my stock driver :s -
'caus I can't find anything else like it :s -

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Hi
To any one who is using XP,which is the best driver for Crysis and COD 4?
Thanks in advance.
Regards -
Been reading this thread with interest!!
I have the .14 and .08 bios and vbios, yet still can not use non stock drivers. Well I can until I reboot after install, then i get under clocked. Run a game or a bench mark straight afer install and I get great results though lol.
Runnig vista 64, any more ideas out there? -
how significant is this underclock? I might have the same problem is your only losing about 400 3dmarks
-
-
The only one for
BF2 , BF2142 , Crysis
is the 167.43 !
With all the others i had a bad performance
( nearly half the frames) -
-
-
What a predicament! This should definitely be adressed. I am running vista 64 with the stock drivers still, and I've had this computer for 4 months or something. Not normal!
-
Driver for 8800M GTX that does not suck?
