I didn't know they did that, but apparently not with this one, or perhaps they had this one config'd and ready to go post-testing. All I know is I ordered it one day, and got the email that they shipped the very next day. Aside from it having an i5 sticker on it (when there is an i7 inside), it's perfect. Oh, and the ticking power supply makes me a bit nervous, but so far so good. I did make the mistake of uninstalling the biometric finger reader software (Protector Suite 2009) and now it won't reinstall no matter what version or which driver I use, but I'm not so concerned with that device since they are historically terrible enforcing security on these devices.
-
This thread has been quiet over the last few days.
Anyone received their machine? This forum hungers for benchmarks! -
Has that happened yet? -
horaaaaay mine is now waiting for the shipping details so its kind of "will be shipped" but atleast its better than phase 2 xDDD.
btw fvultee how is the power supply ticking ?? its kind of scary me 0_0, are you using the noraml 120 ?? and how it's heat when you are gaming ? -
Ticking kinda sounds like an old mechanical wind up watch, though the ticking is not to a consistent beat like a watch would be. Temp during gaming is fine, though I did have it sitting on a blanket that was on my lap (which covered the vents on the bottom a bit) and when I picked it up it was HOT! A few hours of Battlefield Bad Company 2 on maxed out settings will do that
-
-
actually i was talking about the PSU temp lol, since this ticking might happen cause the wire is not connected properly in the psu, i used to have something similar to that im my compaq for the first time and then a good push to the wire input in the psu ended that sound,
oh on the other hand my laptop is FINALLY SHIPPED HORAAAAAAAAY but i didnt recive any tracking number in the order updates ??? where did you guys get your tracking numbers from ? -

Even notebookcheck doesn't have it so kudos to you mate!
All right, first post so don't flame me(made an account just for this thread)
According to Notebookcheck, the Mobility HD 5870 has a 3D mark Vantage score at stock clocks of around 8350 @ 1280*1024 high settings on an i7 820QM (cpu doesnt matter but still)
Thats only a 2.5% increase in performance if both the 470m and 5870m are compared. So the only thing I'm curious about is what resolution was this Vantage test done?? as a higher resolution would justify the 470m's capability and vantage score. Also, I'm sure that the 470m stands out much better than the 5870m when comparing tessellation.
I know for my first post I'm asking a lot, but since there are some early adopters of this new nvidia card discussing on the same thread... Can anyone do a Uniengine heaven tessellation dx11 @ Full HD resolution on high settings to see how it fares out against the 5870m & the 480m???
As for me, I was thinking of getting a new Asus G73 for about $1000 from ebay(pretty cheap eh?). But I decided to ditch that offer as the thoughts of a Sandy Bridge paired with a 2011 mobile graphics solution reminds me of the saying "Patience reaps great rewards" -
^^ Just make sure you are not comparing the GPU only score of the 470M to a total Vantage score for the M5870. Gpu only score for M5870 is in the 7.5-8.0K range at stock clocks. Notebookcheck guys show you the total score

MySn.De offers 470m sli in the x7200. It basicaly replaces the 480m, with the same price 480m had.
So, anyone gettin those ? -
same price as SLI 480M?
-
Anyone else have a system with the GTX 470M?
-
Thats why it was so long before it appeared in the x7200. They waited to clear stock of 480ms.
Hahahahahha.
This is more proof of the fact that 480m should have not been made for laptops. the geforce 100 chip, i mean. -

I tried to reason with folks, but some people just don't listen. And I still hold a harsh brand of accountability against those who kept telling the new people, "well if he has the money, might as well go all out!", as if having money negates making an informed buy. All the while, those who pushed others toward making the purchase weren't lining up to buy X7200s.
It's harsh, but anyone who spent $800+ per GPU needs to look in the mirror. Blame yourself or God. The benchmarks vs. the 5870M were out there.

v263.09 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | NVIDIA Desktop - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
Have u tried using a modified INF to install the drivers? -
hey im back,
i dont know why this thread is not stick yet ?? there is more than 13+ grand views it.
anyway as i promised i would come back with results of benchmarking for the Lost Planet 2
my settings:
1920x1080
nvidia 259...(cant remember the rest and lazy to check)
windows 7 ultimate 64bit
hmm.. guess thats it oh and im not sure about the directx that i got but im correctly downloading the latest one from microsoft.
the game settings:
res 1920x1080
everything on high including directx 11 features which i dont know WTH is it ??
AA disabled
vsync disabled (also what is this ? i always saw it and tried it but nothing seems to change)
the results test 1:
scene 1: 27.7
scene 2: 23.3
scene 3: 29.4
also i need to note that the laptop went to sleep on scene 2 and the game went really slow (8fps) before i got it back but that was for 3-5 sec,
i was playing burnout paradise for nearly one hour with everything in full including AAx8and the heat was 65c and the game looked really really great, my roommate bought me the new NFS game and i will try it as soon as i have the time to play with it, also i got TONs of games old and new ones but im waiting for the logitech g500 to arrive (is it best gaming mouse ??) and after that would benchmark FPS games
so guys if any of you want to know a benchmark for a game please do reply and i will see if i got the game and then i would gladly be at your service, but please note i got a slow internet here at the dorms unlike the campus, so i dont want to download anything like the lost planet 2 benchmark (it took nearly 2 days T_T) so i hope for a benchmark included in the game also the fps games will wait for the g500DDD

Only problem with the computer so far is that the SAGER name on the front is actually foil tape, and the R already peeled when I was cleaning the top. So now it's a SAGE, not bad either! -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Any 3dMark11 scores for the 470M yet?

Take your shenanigans back to /g/. Sage goes in the email.
-
what drivers are you guys using for the 470m??? trying to to put a 470m in my M15x, but it won't kick into 3d clocks. currently using 263.09 with modded inf.
-
-
thanks fvultee, then i guess it a bios issue with the M15x. +rep

The first time I installed the desktop drivers I thought my hotkey driver was broken. The only way you can control the brightness is if you adjust is before the Starting Windows screen, after that the keys will be disabled.
-
Why has nvidia still not given support for these cards yet?
-
-
so that means i can actually set my brightness with the desktop drivers, instead of having to burn my eyes with 100% brightness all the time? -
You can adjust it before this screen appears:
After that its not gonna work anymore. -
You can do it before the windows loading animation.
-
guys any idea how to change the wallpaper of the desktop when changing the users at?
when we alt+ctrl+del, we will be brought into new desktop, that background wallpaper, any idea how to change it? -
-
So anyone doing a 3dmark 2011 run with 470m sli ?
Or better yet, does anyone have a 470m sli ?
Or even more so better, is 3dmark 2011 even supporting sli yet ? -
There's no 470M SLI yet, and I don't think 3DM11 supports it yet.
