No, not at all. The 6970M is an amazing GPU, and has done me no wrong.

Truth be told, I'm just an Nvidia fan, at heart. The price of 485M was simply too high to justify, so I was forced into going AMD. If the 570M is close in price to the 6970M, I'll switch back.

I guess zee Germans dont give a $%^& about a 6am NDA expiration. 20% performance bump is better than 10-15% that I expected - maybe we can squeeze another 5-10% out of it with overclocking, and hopefully, they won't bend us over on the price.

Heh, now for the other million dollar question...

    When is it GA?

What TDP is the 570M btw? Looks interesting because it is right between 560 and 580.

I'm under NDA but copylefted as in my signature :D

No, seriously I didn't sign any NDA. Clevo just gave me the price as a reseller and didn't tell me anything about NDA. I think they even didn't care. The advised price is $906 for one GTX 580M, $1734 for SLI kit. They give me a special price for one SLI kit at $1420.
You see I'm an opened book, this is called the Open Source NDA under GPL licence :D :D

ooh now i might opt for zine 570m ooh yes, und it has zine 256bit memory bus, which is an improvement from the old 470m, so at least that is going to be better. zat will certainly beat my current frisen.

edit: so by those stats the 570m should be a fairly good step up from the old 470m, and right now thats looking pretty sweet.

Well, same exact core/mem/shader clocks as the GTX 470M, with a 15% increase in shaders (336 instead of 288), and 256-bit instead of 192-bit.

It's probably in the 85W range, along with the 6970M.

Do you have it's codename, I may ask Clevo to quote it if they have it, but they understand codename better than GTX name.

Does anyone think the 570m could be flashed to the 580m to unlock the extra shaders and up the clocks a bit?
@Tirenz - I doubt the 485m can be flashed since the 580m is using a different core (if I'm not confused).

GTX 570M looks interesting. It's basically the Quadro 4000M, which is a bit slower than the 6970M.

Also, I was expecting 650mhz core for the 580M :/ though we're looking at a 10% increase over the 485M and 13k Vantage GPU stock.

id like to try flash 485m to 580m......anyone have its bios now?

I take it the 570m is inferior to the 485m regardless of die shrink and overclocking, now we have to wait a few days for the resellers to put up their prices regarding the cards.

what resellers will offer the 570m, because as far as know no one offers the 470m currently. is that due to low stock or is the card just too outdated.

470m was phased out if I remember correctly, the 570m is its direct replacement (long overdue).

570M with good OC potential to run at 580M speeds - FTW, hope Nvidia will choose the right price policy...

I think the price is not come from NVIDIA , Clevo might get 580M gpu cheaper from NVIDIA but Clevo will not sell the card cheaper ...

i dunno guys, looking at the specs of the 580m i highly doubt that one could squeeze out a 20% performance gain compared to the 485m! the 580m clocks are actually quite close to my 485m oc gaming clocks (see my sig) and all in all i get around 7.6% more speed, so not even close to Nvidia´s claim...

    concerning pricing:

    mysn.de offers the 580m for 50€ more than the 485m (both P150HM and P170HM)

one.de offers the 580m upgrade in the P170HM for 400€, whereas P150HM offers the 485m upgrade for 300€, thus a 100€ difference in pricing

lastly, hawkforce.de offers both the 580m (P170HM) and 485m (P150HM) for the same upgrade price (+400€ compared to stock).

im gonna check with my reseller (deviltech) what their pricing will be since they havent updated their website just yet, hopefully ill be able to upgrade to the 580m with just 50-100€ aditional cost (only WHEN and IF i can get my hands on performance reviews that support Nvidia´s 20% performance gain claim!)

just my two cents so far folks...

    cheers

well, ASSUMING Nvidia`s claim of a 20% performance boost vs. 485m is just a PR thing, I as a 485m owner would probably stick to what i have. if youre still out to buy a new laptop then id just go for the 580m, sicne the price difference doesnt seem to be that significant!

    cheers

now with a fhd 1080p screen

jk jk lmao that would be so bad

edit: also on nvidia's website it says the 570m is 20% faster, even though that german website said it would have 256 bit memory and it only has the 192 bit.

At stock speeds, is a single 580m faster then a pair of 460m s ?
    My vantage Pscore is 13500.
I never tried to overclocked them to see what that would get me, as i see overclocking pointless.

CRAZY - 485m $-200 is totally worth it. If you wanted a 485m now is the time to get it - just OC to 580m speeds right? Almost wished I had waited and gotten the 485m now over the 6970m (shipping today).
