if u dont mind me asking, where did u get your laptop from?
-
I live in Belgium and its a local supplier who orders it directly from Clevo.
-
What is it called? I used to live in Belgium as well.
-
That is a really nice drop in temperatures. I hope I might see something simular.
Also I did some more testing today with the stock paste. (P170hm 580m gtx)
Did 3 runs with furmark.
settings: 1920x1080 32x MSAA
this time raised 1 inch on a hard surface desk. fn+1 enabled.
20 min each. Each time the results were between 85 and 86°C
dont know what went wrong the first test though.
Monday ICD 7 will arrive, will repaste and see if there is any difference in temperatur -
sorry if this has been asked - I only recently switched to the 580M and haven't followed this thread.
Does anyone know the operating temperature specs for the 580 in a Clevo P170HM? -
Furmark is usually 85-90C
Vantage is usually 70-80C
Both P170HM and P150HM. IC7 paste? not sure if there is or not. -
Anyone know what heatsink ### the GTX 580m uses in the P150HM? I just contacted Malibal and requested a 204 heatsink--assuming the GTX 580m used the same heatsink as the 6990m in the P150HM.
-
580M uses -303
-
Thought so too.
but I just got my p170hm with 580m GTX from a german reseller, and changed my stock paste to ICD 7.
I noticed that I have a 203 Heatsink with the 580m GTX.
Might that be a problem in Temperatures or what is the difference to the 302, 303 series?
Hope somebody can help me. -
6-31-x510n-302
6-31-x510n-503 -
did you get your 220W adapter yet?
-
Not yet.
-
where we can buy a 220watt adapter???
-
I ordered the AC adapter from P170HM. I know, is different plug, but it's not a problem for me.
Notebook Ersatzteile, Reparatur Werkstatt für Acer, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung Laptops und mehr -
u must mod the plug to use it with P150HM??
-
Yes, I have to replace the cables.
-
ok man!!thx for the help!!
-
Well I took a pic of my heatsink.
The one connected with the core says 203
and the one connected with the fan says 503
So I'm kind of confused
-
I have the 302 and 503 on my 580m
I just checked, but looking at your heatsink and mine I dont really see any visual difference at all!
What are you temps you are getting, and is that with stock paste or... ? -
interesting, the -203 shouldn't even line up correctly with the 580M.
-
Well it seems to fit alright. at least the polished copper covers the whole GPU Core.
Temps were 86-87°C with furmark 1920x1080, 32x MSAA 20min stock paste.
I repasted with ICD 7 now Temps are about -1°C to - 1,5°C.
Might try repasting again might have done a too thick of a pastejob. -
Well I can tell you I had higher temps playing games and running furmark then you with the 302 heatsink and stock paste. (highest temp in a game was aprox 94c)
Now after a repaste with ICD7 I am anywhere between 75c and 80c ingame. Have not done any furmark though.
How did you apply the paste if I may ask? -
applied it with a rubber glove and put it evenly on the core.
Temp difference is not too much between stock paste.
I might try repasting it again this week,
using the recommended way of applying ICD 7
I think on their website it says to put a pea sized amount in the middle of the chip and just apply preasure to the heatsink and screw it back together.
How did you apply the paste?
Your temps seem to have changed quite a lot -
I should be getting mine sometime relatively soon. Ill definitely post some temps
-
Same.. Looking forward to seeing my temps under load as well.. maybe even try overclocking it a bit (something I've never considered in a laptop). End of the week cannot come soon enough... unless malibal ships it out earlier
-
haha, looks like all 3 of us are on the same boat! I can't wait much longer!!!!
I'll post a review and some heat once I get it. -
I should have mine tomorrow. Will post some temps.
What are the best 580M drivers at this point? Official 280.26? -
I applied it in the middle on the chip in a small line (since the chip isnt square). My goal was to use enough that when I applied the heatsink and used a bit of pressure it would go just a bit further then the chip itself. To do this I first did a test and put the heatsink on and take it off again to see what the result was. If I was happy with it, what I was I applied it the same way.
-
sounds like a good way to do it.
I'll try it today right after work.
Maybe I see another drop in Temps by 1-2°C -
my 580m never goes above 87 celcius. not with furmark, but gaming and for over an hour.
-
could you try running furmark with 1920x1080 and 32x msaa?
-
Ran furmark for 10min on my 580m today, 1920x1080, 8x msaa. Temps stayed consistant at 87C, on idle without anything too crazy, it hangs around the 51C level. I have the IC7 paste
-
After 3 hours of Metro 2033 and 2 hours of L4D2 Versus, temperature never went over 75C with a cheap laptop cooler.
Furmark 1920x1080 @ 8x msaa - 88C, no laptop cooler.
Idle seems to stay around 52 just browsing, listening to music, etc. no laptop cooler.
Keep in mind, this is with the screen refresh rate set to 120Hz. When I set the global refresh rate to 60Hz, temps drop 7-9 degrees on average.
Also have IC7 paste. 280.26 drivers.
I think I'll pickup a really good laptop cooler to help even more...any suggestions? -
NZXT is good. That's the one I'm using right now.
-
Hi, I'm glad everything is working out for everyone! Daboosh, here are a couple coolers you might want to consider:

Amazon.com: NZXT CRYO LX Aluminum Notebook Cooler 17-Inch to 19-Inch with 120MM Adjustable Fans - Silver (CRYO LX SILVER): Electronics -
regarding furmark---so what's the "customary" benchmark settings? max? default settings (like 3DMark benches)?
-
Does anyone here actually have a 303 heatsink?
Wonder how it differs from the 302... -
Hey guys using vantage under "performance" tab
My 3DMark score - P16051
GPU score - 13216
CPU score - 45037
Is that good or bad or average? -
finally had time to run Vantage.
3DMark: 16188
Graphics: 13321
CPU: 45664 -
Is that stock?? That's much higher the the the 580M's in the Alienware forum.
-
actually, scratch that score. I forgot to disable physx for the test.
-
OK, i was hoping that i could get it under control myself...but I guess I need someone else to take a look at it:
I am facing huge temp problems with this GPU.
- P170HM3 (3D disabled for tests/monitor refresh-rate set to 60 Hz)
- GTX580m
- VBios 70.24.31.00.02
- Driver 280.26 whql
- GPU heat sink model 302
- Memory heat sink model 503
- Clocks/voltage stock
- Came with Arctic Silver 7, now repasted 2 times with ICD24
- Sitting lifted on a Notebook-cooler with two 120mm fans blowing air
- Room temperature 27c
- GPU temp while just typing this 45c
- GPU temp after 2 minutes of Furmark(1.9.1) with FANS ON FULL (FN 1)
>>>constant 96-97c<<<
After repasting from AS7 to ICD24 it now takes 1-2 minutes to rise to 97c, before it was just a matter of seconds!
YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE! -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carat_(mass)
ICD24 is just more ICD7 in one tube, its literally the same thermal compound.
Furmark pushes systems beyond normal circumstances. The ICD7 might have not fully cured yet and/or not applied optimally.
What are you max temps on Vantage/11 runs?
and this doesn't seem out of the ordinary. -
will let you know...running Vantage and 11 now...
EDIT:
- VANTAGE: 92c
- 3DMark11: 93c -
Do you have league of legend? I just finish playing a game of league of legend, the highest temperature was my GPU using HWmonitor and it was only 56c.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
That is still a little too high for a 580M.
- -
-
Sure but what is Nvidia inspector, and where do you find it?
-
NVIDIA Inspector 1.9.5.5 download from Guru3D.com
Just open the software, don´t change a thing and play a video or something to get the card to run in P0 state. Does yours also report 0,92volt in the left voltage window? -
Mine is reporting 0.800V
Edit: Sorry I wasn't in P0 state.
in P0 it reports 0.920
