    Clevo italian reseller (Santech.it) has taken out the possibility to configure the 15'6'' with 580m gtx: this probably reinforce Nvidia has given a kind of embargo until the card is officialy presented by themselves;
    Who knows but at the first place Santech wrote new cards would have been available from 22nd June;

    Well, I figure it is not so much meaningful on its own as it is if you compare it to the prices of other cards on the site, like the 485M. If I remember correctly it's EU100 more than the 485M.

    It would be just stupid to make it more expensive than 485m, the old product discontinues and the new one appears for the same price. So i guess the price mythlogic set for 580m is accurate) +1.15$

    Yeah it was there this morning with a big (Unreleased) next to them. They were about $1.40 higher than the 485m prices. I hope I didn't get them in trouble. ;-)

    Incidentally - sorry for the double post, but I missed the other comment.

    If the GTX 580M is released in a solid notebook in SLI with a 2720QM, 8GB 1600Mhz, has a 1920x1080 screen that supports 3D, Solid State with mimimum of 256GB with adequate cooling, then I will steer away from Alienware since I agree that I will probably regret the 560M SLI in 2-3 years even though I normally buy a new one every 3-4 years. I don't care what the price is :)

    query to those that already have the 485M and 6790M: sure, we are bummed by the fact that 580M will topple our golden cards soon. And so I see many ppl saying they will swap it out as soon as price and performance is known.

    But do we really need to upgrade unless and until some game or app runs choppy with the 485M/6790M? Or is there something special you run that needs the latest and greatest at all times? Or is a matter of pride and money is no matter? People are starving in some parts of the world! :(

    Another point is that if we wait for the start of next year, we might get the next gen graphics cards with top performance for lower prices. I'm planning on running the 485M to the ground until a game runs choppy or its time for a new laptop.

    haha, no need to upgrade my 485M.
    I will buy a new laptop with refined Maxwell card (ie more power efficient version) (probably GTX 7XXM or 8XXM).
    my graphic card history in notebook is: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600==>ATI Radeon HD4330==>GTX 485M

    I have you beat! Mobility Radeon 7000 16MB ==> Radeon 9700 Pro 64MB ==> GeForce 8700 GT ==> GeForce 9800M GTS ==> (soon) Radeon 6970M.

    I've almost done a complete circle (only 30... uh... numbers away)!

    Still I'm curious what the 580m will be. Hope I don't regret my 6970m too much! :eek:

    The 580M will likely beat the 6970M and 485M by 10 to 15%.

    That still isn't worth it, for how much it costs over the 6900M.

    384 cores GTX 485M (575/1150) -> GTX 560Ti (822/1644) +247/494
    384 cores GTX 580M -> GTX 560Ti (822/1644)
    384 cores GTX 485M (575/1150) -> GTX 580M

    Graphics Clock range: 100-247
    Processor Clock range: 180-494

    Minimum GTX 580M Clocks: 575+100/1150+200 -> 675/1350

    The 28nm 7000M is what's expected in Q1 of 2012.

    AMD is expected to release another Barts based 6900M GPU this year.

    I don't see the point of releasing a new 6990M from AMD that late if the expected 7000 series are going to arrive in Q1 2011. There are already too few brands include high end cards like 485M/6970M, lower cards like 460m/560M are getting way more attention from laptop makers.

    About the 580M, even if it outperforms my 6970M by a good amount of 20-30%, I won't regret buying it because based on nvidia's pricing history, you can expect they will charge you at least 300$ over a 6970M. Sure it's great to have the latest and greatest technology, but why would I pay more if 6970M is already one of the top and gives more than I asked for?

    I spoke with a representative today when I was about to/considering ordering my NP8170, and asked about the 580m and in regards to the June 28th NDA lift. I was told that the 580M should only be about 10% better than the 485, and that it would be out soon.

    So I am going to hold off to see what happens, because in my mind it may only be 10% at the start but after some patches/updates it should easily exceed that...

    Well if you're in my shoes, then an increase from the GTX 460M to the GTX 580M is akin to a 50% to 60% increase....I'm betting that's a good investment to make :D

    Mountainlifter_k makes a good point when s/he says that there's no need to upgrade the graphics card if the games do not stutter. But for me, TW2 will stutter slightly at medium settings, so that justifies my purchase.

    Well, spending $900 for the 580M, brings into question whether you should've just spent the $495 for the 485, from the beginning.

    Well, you shouldn't expect to have the 7000M until March/April, as is usual of AMD.

    That's an 8 month span, from today, which needs to be covered, for the company to maintain mindshare.

    If im not wrong, the 8130 has a lower power brick compared to the 8150 right?? So, is it confirmed that the 8130 can take the 580M? Is the 580M that much more power efficient than the 485M?
