I just got an e-mail saying that it would not ship today :-(. Now it is supposed to ship tomorrow or Thursday.

I am so confused.. R&J Tech said they were getting their 7950's in somtime this week but everywhere else I look it says mid-september. I called twice the same guy keeps telling me they are coming in a few days. I hope he isn't bull****ting me.

I wonder if there are any potential "slowdowns" in my order... Besides the parts that are defaulted in the notebook off of Xoticpc's website, I have the WUXGA screen, T7300 2.0 Ghz CPU, Nvidia 8700M GT, 4 GB of RAM, 200 GB Hitachi Travelstar 3GB/S, TV tuner, and Windows Vista Ultimate. Can anyone tell me if there is some shortage of one piece of hardware or another?
-
How long is the wait? I just order 3 of them from xoticpc with the 8700 and i need them before the end of this month ><"
-
Recieved my np5790 from xoticpc today
I threw xp on it since im going to game and I don't care to battle vista crashing right now.
specs:
Core2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz
GeForce 7950GTX
2,048MB DDR2 667 PC2 5300 (2 SODIMMS)
160GB Seagate Momentus 3GB/S SATA 300 7200RPM Hard Drive
WSXGA 1680x1050 Matte Screen
And a bunch of other crap
Mine came with the fingerprint reader, I never thought I would use it but it is pretty neat! I just scan my finger and it will input my user name and password on web pages, lol. I like that!
only game I've played so far on it was bf2142 on highest settings and it runs great. I am about to load up madden 08 and use a xbox360 joystick in a bit.
I borrowed my friends camera and took 2 pics but its nothing you haven't seen before(the matte screen is really nice btw)
-
Good to know the matte screen is nice, I was kind of wishing I ordered glossy. And I'm actually going to dual boot xp and vista, I already have an xp cd.
-
Wooooohooooo I Got It!~~!!!!!
-
Justin told me this morning that mine *should* ship out end of this week or early next week...
I hope it won't get delayed again...
-
Yo Nettwerk can you take some more pictures of your screen with a black screen so we can see if it has any light leakage... i am also interested in the viewing angles of the matte screen...
-
Is it usual for this kind of delay for the sager5790? I live in Australia and I'm a little worried. I mean, I expected it to take a little longer... but it seems like forever. I'm confident in the company... I'd just like to get an update to know what's going on if you know what I mean. At the same time I dont want to send a bunch of nagging emails to find out. I think I'll email Justin again to check anyway.
Do you think the fact that I've ordered the 512MB nVidia GeForce 7950GTX will delay the order? I heard they are not expected now until September? arrrgh
Oh dear... I really want my laptop -
Justin emailed me today and said mine will ship late this week or early next week (mine was supposed to ship last Thursday but got delayed...
) because they're going through heavy production on these models...
It does seems to take forever for it to come...>.<
-
Quick question...what resolution should I run at if I have WSXGA matte screen..
-
1680x1050 resolution
-
oh yeh...silly me...after i instaled the drivers i got it..didnt have it before...GOOD!!!
-
Well, xotic told me last week that my laptop would ship early this week... which it didnt (with the 7950). They sent an email saying that card was causing the delay >< (why didnt they tell me instead of saying it was going to ship). So I changed to the 8700 card (would this card still be able to run games like crysis at native res UXGA?). I need this machine before friday afternoon so they said it will ship with the 8700 thursday if it goes through testing no problems.
ordered on aug 1, I thought I was going to get lucky and get a 7950......... -
an article was posted about how stunning the 8700 performed on crysis. at least you'll get the DX10 now which you couldnt with the 7950
-
i still haven't been told whether i'll get the 7950 or if it'll be delayed ><

Do you guys know if any of these sites offer some sort of financing?
-
I thought I went over this...
I do not know of a Clevo reseller that does financing... mainly because they are not large enough to need a finance department.
I would strongly recommend to order the notebook that you want with a credit card that has a low APR or promotional deal (0% APR for a year, no payments for 12 months, etc...). Then you can pay it back at your leisure without having to worry too much about the interest. And you can transfer the balance from one card to another if the promotion ends on the first. -
-
-
That... and I am a frugal college student (its all bang for the buck) -
Well thanks for the help anyway much appreciated.
-
Indeed it is a good idea Gophn... I used to market credit cards (dont shoot me!) and thats one of the major benefits we used to promote. Just keep swapping cards to manage the finance! Keeps you in interest free, keeps me in a job
Is my laptop here yet? :\

Didn't your sig says you ordered on July 30th?
-
I was wondering the same thing
-
-
Sheesh... I guess that means I'm in for another month of waiting. What a drag. Not happy. I really expected the laptop to be here within a few weeks. they did advertise about a week before delivery. -
It's a much bigger laptop too isnt it. What was the difference in price you had to spend to get the upgrade? -

read gophn's thread on the matter...
the NP5790 and NP9260 are around the same size...they're both 17'' laptops. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
The NP9260 7950 GTX card is a different socket than the 7950 GTX for the NP5790.
That is why the larger (thicker and heavier) NP9260 can ship now while the NP5790 can't. -
hmmm, 9260 is indeed a very large laptop... with loads of power and room for upgrades. Is it worth it? Oh, I wish I knew how long I will be waiting for my 5790. :|
-
Agent CoolBlue Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
my point was that the 9260 isn't...quote from you...''much larger'' then the 5790...anyways...
try configuring the D900C's Alienware counterpart (the m9750) with the same specs then tell me if it's worth it...it depends on what you're doing with the laptop really... -
Hmmm, well the Alienware counterpart is about $2-3 grand more for a start... so compare anything to that and you've got a better deal lol.
I've just been reading Justin's review on the 9260:
Pros:
-Solid build and attractive overall look & design
-Very little flexing
-Built in 1.3MP Camera
-DVI & VGA Output's
-Dual Video Card Capable on SLI
-Up to 3 Hard Drives (Raid 0/1/5)
-Superior gaming performance - 9000+ with Dual Video Cards in 3D Mark 06
-Numeric Keypad
-Great Cooling System that is quiet considering the 3 Internal Fans
-When Vista 64-Bit is purchased you get copies of both 32-Bit and 64-Bit
-Very nice WUXGA screen.
Cons:
-Heavy (with Power Adapter 3 Hard Drives, Battery, Single Video Card & Case it weighs in at 18.5lbs)
-Low Battery Life
-Runs a little warmer then most other notebooks
-Large Power Adapter
The Cons are to be expected of a DTR notebook of this nature.
It makes sense. It's got more room for upgrades, but it is indeed heavier (if you have the additional hard drives / gpu's etc. Also, it is a little thicker too.
I'm really not convinced I want to go any bigger, also, considering I've already forked out a big wad of cash for the 5790 and It's been delayed I'm really not interested in spending more to get something I didnt really intend on buying, just to get it quicker. Do you see where I'm coming from?
I can see that there's not a large degree of difference, but it is different none the less.
I had looked at this model when I was reviewing, and decided against it because of the extras included that I didnt think I'd really need. I just cant justify the cost.
Thanks for your input. -

The performance will be the same...it is just a different card format.

I think what I'll do is wait to see if my order will be included with the existing stock of GPU's. If not, I'll be looking at other options. The 9260 is certainly tempting. I wonder if there would be any kind of compensation due to the delays... I dont think it's unreasonable to ask. What do you think?
-
Agent CoolBlue Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
compensation? Probably not, you're going to have to deal with it.
-
I dont know about that. Seeing the success you had choosing to replace / trade or a higher model I think xotic would be fairly understanding. I hope you get the machine you're after in the end. Seems like you have a tough choice. I'll just be glad when mine finally gets here.
-
hrm... so how many days does it take to actually finish building/testing the laptop?
-
I thought the 7950GTXs on the 9260 and 5790 were both MXM-IV?
What if Nivdia releases the 8800 cards and only decides to support one format and not the other?
I'm trying to decide between both laptops and I would put vid card upgradeability at the forefront of any purchase decision. Or am I just worrying about nothing?
So many questions
NP5790- Can't wait!
