they have a 3 year warrenty standard (first year thru sager, 2nd and 3rd year through xotic)

 

Some of the earlier orders will be ok with the 7950GTX. Sager does have a few of them just not that many to fill all orders.

On a slightly different topic - how many of you guys who have ordered this beauty also ordered an additional power cord and/or an additional battery?

I take it from my work to my house and having two power cords would help by not having to carry around a brick in my bag.

As far as the 2nd battery, I used to travel quite a bit and that came in very handy especially if I wanted to do a bit of gaming on a plane or something else. Recently though I find that I'm usually "plugged in" so not sure if this would be an asset or not.

Any thoughts?

Oh wow this sucks jeeze louise time to hit up that 8700GT vs 7950GTX thread because I really need a new PC.

 

I think any man's patience would be strained to their limits by these continual setbacks. I've lost count of the number of times I've been told the thing was going to ship "later this week" only to find another setback. Bloody tantalizing. It better arrive before the end of the month.

I ordered NP5790 on 7th August (from Xotic), what approximate date will you ship it? This is not funny anymore, cause I m leaving USA in October.

 

with the delay of the 7950GTX, i upgraded to the 9260. I cant wait until mid september, and i didn't want a lower performing GPU.

I believe mid September is only for the white trim 5790's. I ordered direct from Sager and they said they would ship out this week. Somehow though... I'm doubting that. LOL

Heyyy I guess I have hopped on the bandwagon (or whatever is left of the bandwagon) of people waiting for this machine. I ordered it on August 1 from xoticpc and configured it with the geforce 8700M GT among many other things. Thing is, I live in So-Cal and I have no idea whether or not the check I sent on August 3 has arrived at xoticpc's mailbox yet. It has been a week... but I dunno. How many days WOULD it take for a letter envelope to travel under USPS's slow and steady snail's pace from Southern California to Nebraska?

P.S. I AM VERY EXCITED. Waited for two years to actually purchase a laptop.

P.P.S. This is going to be a magnet for potential laptop thieves in college. Maybe I should cover the orange trim with electrical tape... (only a thought)

 

Yea, So I got my NP5790 and I noticed after i opened it and everything my hard drive was at 5,400 rpm (I knew i shouldn't have let my Mom buy it ). Is is detachable? If so where can i but the 160GB 7,200 rpm?

AND...AND she put the 7950GTX card in instead of the 8700 GT (((... I want to DX10 Goodness when it becomes goodness, is there a way to user upgrade it? because on the sight it says "user ugradable"

 

dont let the DX10 marketing fool you, keep the 7950GTX!

 

Yeah, just visit either newegg.com or tigerdirect.com and search for any 160gb 7,200 rpm SATA 2.5" HDD. Hard Drives are actually one of the easier things to upgrade.

Also, if you've got the 7950gtx I wouldn't complain, that's actually a much better card than the 8700m. Once the 8800m comes out, we'll see if it's worth upgrading to a dx10 card (assuming it's released as MXM-IV). So I wouldn't sweat it yet, there really isn't a reason to switch to a DX10 card just yet, unless you're on a desktop.

 

Does this mean there is hope? If a better Dx10 card does come out I could replace the 7950gtx? oooo, I love being young when Christmas comes around pff parents are such pushovers *evil grin*

 

Yes, it does mean that. Just remember that a video card is a major upgrade, and is something that's not just going to be like putting legos together. You could seriously screw up your computer (or at minimum your video card) if you do the wrong thing. Thats not to scare you, just as a word of caution.

 

I think when xoticpc/powernotebooks/etc. say it's ''User-Upgradeable'', it's not going to be extremely hard to replace.

I sent my check last saturday n apparently they still haven't received it

 

I ordered on Aug 1 and my order still shows in Phase 1. I've contacted them a bunch and they said it should ship the beginning of this week after they said it should have shipped last week. I also upgraded to 1 day shipping over the phone and on the "My Account" page of xoticpc.com, it doesnt show the upgraded shipping. If it doesnt ship the beginning of this week, then I may have to cancel my order (moving to college on thursday). I'm really left in the dark about the status of my order with them, kinda sucks and it gives a TON of unwanted stress...

but then again, things could be on schedule and it could ship within the next 2 days.

 

yeah, i also changed some things in my order, yet they dont show in My account in Xotic, though i am sure they know about them (they called me when I wanted to change payment method from wire transfer to credit card, still, in my account, the info is obsolete

 

don't worry about your order status on the website zury, when I changed my order from a 2090 to a 5790, the status remained the same on the website.

 

This wait... it has only been a week and a half since I sent my check in and I am already trembling from excitement. I'm so pathetic, huh?

No clue. I sent it in August 3rd but this is coming from Southern California so... hard to say.

I wanted to make my first post to say thanks.
I have been following the forum for some time and the well timed advise has guided me well in my pursuit of a new photoshop munching beast.

Aug 1st, I ordered, from Xoticpc, the Clevo 5790.
WSXGA+. 4gig ram, 8700, 120gb HD, Vista business, etc....
I also bought a 22 inch samsung 226bw lcd to compliment from buy.com.

This perfectly meets my needs and when the 8700 came out Aug 1 it was time to jump. I have not recieved it yet but am in no hurry since I am about to travel for a couple of weeks.

I ordered on June 24th so I have been waiting awhile with BigP

 

I'm thinking of buying the NP5790 and I know you'll probably be able to upgrade the GPU down the road, but does anybody know if you can upgrade this laptop with future 45nm processors?

 

Hrm.. so does anyone know around when the people who ordered their NP 5790 on August 1 with Geforce 8700M will receive the notebooks? Mid August? or will we have to also wait a month?

 

Getting really anxious trying to wait on my laptop.

I preordered in June, and paid it off at the beginning of July. Since I had custom paint though, I had to wait three weeks. I was told it might've shipped out last week, and it didn't. Then I got an e-mail this weekend saying I'd get my tracking # today. It's past closing time so I don't think I'm getting the number today. Really hoping I'll have this before school next week though.

 

Shockwave, I ordered mine on August 2 with the 8700 and mine is supposed to ship tomorrow.

Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered a 5790 from Xotic yesterday. Too bad about the 7950's being backordered till September

I am wondering now as to whether I should upgrade to 3gigs of RAM instead of 2gigs. I'll primarily be using this lappy for gaming so I figure more RAM is better then the dubious advantage of dual-channel.
