You can change the resolution but the image quality will be worse compared to native.

*goes to play around with different configurations*
Edit: Hmm, if I take my hard drive back to 160GB, then I can get the WUXGA for $50 more. Plus, I was wanting a glossy screen... Hmm...
Edit 2: and actually, if I still get $50 back from the lack of fingerprint reader, then I can get WUXGA for free. I think I just might do that... -
So.... if I got 3GB in mine is that bad news or good news on delivery?
-
Hey Jarrettdad I got 3GB RAM also. Just got done talking with an xotic rep and they said 2gb modules arrived and so any orders from 1gb to 3gb are now ready to be assembled. Unfortunately for the 4gb ppl, not a single 4gb module has shipped out from Sager yet
-
-
Thanks for the update Gej. I wonder if they are filling 3GB first because they can fill more individual orders that way? 4GB of RAM could build 2 3GB machines if they have enough 1GB MEM?
-

All 2GB orders will be filled in the order they were received.
There are limited 2GB modules and the next shipment of them will be in next week. =)
-
So, I guess it's back to feeling sad then?
-
I can't seem to get a hold of anyone at Xotic PC through email or online chat so I guess I will just wait the two weeks and go back to boredom.

do you think I will be in this shipment justin?
WUXGA
2 gigs(1 sodimm)
under the account nathalie thai.
thanks! -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
I would say most likely not as you just ordered your system.
We anticipate next week

next week is good news! thanks!
-
Once again, Justin I'm sorry for being a huge pain in the butt. -
-
-
It's the 2GB Modules they are short on. That's why it's effecting people that ordered 1 2GB Module and 3-4 GB. -

Oh Justin, how is the status of changing my order going?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Thanks Jarrettdad, that is correct! =) More modules will be arriving next week
Lawls, we emailed you that the change went through. Please email us if you have any other questions. -
Had I known that I would have just gone with the stock 2X1 GB SODIMMS.
-
hey Justin, I just altered my order today from a WSXGA to a WUXGA, does this put my order all the way to the back of the line or is my pre order position unchanged?
-
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
If any of you would like to go over any order details please email me.
yukonbob_34, I apologize you didnt get a update regarding this. The machine just started shipping last Friday, there was a 3 Day delay before the 2GB modules arrived.
((EDIT: Revising your order does not affect your position in line))
-
-
-
If I would be in your position I would ask if I can get the laptop without the RAM and get the cost of RAM back...and then just put it in yourself....meh just a thought....too bad my position is way worse....can't find a spare screen nowhere.....bah!

I don't recall getting a email confirming my change. The last email I got from you guys regarding this matter was about getting a final list of my configuration the next day which was supposed to be yesterday and I still don't have it =/. Anyways I emailed you justin.

Despite the fact that there are some delays with the orders, I do think the wait will be worth it so hang in there ladies and gentlemen. -
Quick question then to Justin: If I were to order tommorow with 4 gigs of RAM and the WSXGA Glossy, do you think I would receive my computer by August 19?
Thanks -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Myriad, please PM or email me and I can share more information with you
-
^^^ lol, justin, do you ever get tired of saying that?
i haven't even been on these forums long and questioned directed towards you in a thread occur at least ten times a day hehe -
-
<name>, please send me a PM .....
copy, paste, edit, reply.
-
I just now received my tracking number! I am so happy that I have to go change my pants.
-
congrats, still waiting on mine.
-
duh...yuknobob...you got WUXGA right?
-
I'm posting from mine right now. So far, it runs games wonderfully. Its a bit too warm to place it right on my lap, and the video card fan constantly goes on and off even if its idle.
One question: where can I read how to use the built in microphone? I must be missing it. -
-
Do not use it on your lap without a hard flat surface or notebook cooler.... or you will be blocking the air vents to cause overheating.
And a couple of things for you to know (if you havent seen it yet):
lemme give you my pre-requisites for owning a high-end notebook:
Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:
1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
- you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
- when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
- OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place [remember to use it occasionally to charge and discharge it].
2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
- ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
- RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
- (for Clevo's) ALWAYS use the Fan Speed Toggle (Fn+1 for the new models) to switch all fans in the notebook to Max Speed (defaults at Auto Speed) when gaming and such.
- check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
- ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating
By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years.
______________
Also can you check the Fan Toggle for that model notebook.
- press Fn+1 to see if all of the fans switch to Max Speed and then to Auto... I know the D900C has it.
And it would be awesome if you can give us a review of it (you will get paid). -
Waaaahaaaaaa! I want mine! But I'm going on vacation from July 27th to August 11th, so I won't get it until I'm back...
*sigh*
At least the vacation will make the waiting go by faster. -

Just wanted to pass an update some of you. The 2GB modules came in and we will be shipping many of the first orders with 2GB (& WUXGA) modules today! (3 & 4GB configurations)
-
I hope my order shipped.
-
yeah bbos, i hear you man. its about time
-
Yesterday I was running Battlefield 2142 fine. Today, its running like garbage. I had 60 frames per second, and now I'm getting 5 to 10. I havent changed a single setting! What the hell happened?
-
And make sure you are playing with AC power connected. -
It is times like these that make me feel bad about being such a miser when it comes to expediting shipping
-
If you figure it out, please post your solution here so I can try and apply it myself -
Any initial thoughts from those of you who have received your new notebooks?
NP5790- Can't wait!
