Does anybody know where I can find real life pictures of the sager 5790?
-
what do you mean by real pictures?
all of the sellers sites have real pictures.
the best pictures that I have seen is through Pro-star:
http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=productdetail&model=5726&subpage=gallery#gotop
as well as:

1) When you say do not overcharge, you mean dont leave the notebook idle and charged in for hours on end, constantly? Do I need to worry if I am using the computer and have it plugged in?
2) Does leaving the notebook on battery usage severely reduce its performance, such as in 3d applications? I had powermizer set to max performance and it still ran horribly.
3) Do you have any advice on objects or pieces of furniture I can use so I can sit on a chair or couch and use the notebook?
4) Where can I find some info on the creative x-fi expansion card for notebooks?
Thanks! -

I can answer number 1 and 3. He means by overcharging it. Don't charge it to 100 percent THEN leave it still charging for a long period of time.
number 3. I suggest getting a laptop cooler, that's USB-powered and then putting the laptop on there and proceed to use it like that. That way you are using it on a flat-surface. -
Just ordered mine....2 gigs of ram and T7300 CPU.....also got the XFI Card and G7 laser mouse from Newegg.

thank you

I got my order changed to WUXGA on Thursday (so I wouldn't have to wait another two weeks for the WSXGA). E-mailed Justin today and he said that it would ship either today (Friday) or on Monday.
I'm so excited!Once I get it I'll definitely write up a review. Photos, benchmarks, the whole she-bang.

may I ask when you ordered Joga?
I was hoping mine could ship out on monday too T_T.
what do you think Justin?

One thing I'll note is about the audio input/output jacks in the front.
My wife had gotten me some logitech x-540 5.1 surround sound pc speakers for a gift, and I was all excited about using them with my new laptop until I noticed that it didn't have an SPDIF in and the laptop only had the line-in, headphones, and mic jack out. The speakers had a front, back, and sub/center 3-wire system and I just couldn't see how to convert the two.
Well, it turns out the Realtek system can remap or whatever all the jacks to be whatever you want, so when I plugged in my rear speakers in the line-in jack, it asked me what it was and let me choose. So I get my 5.1 surround sound after all
Perhaps this is common and well known with the audiophiles out there, but my last laptop couldn't do this (zd8000) and I was quite pleased that my new powerhouse could.
I'd write up a review or something but I'm too busy getting all my stuff installed. I will say that the keyboard keys seem a tad bit bigger than the keys on my zd8000; maybe it's the font or something but I like it. Also, the trim around the keys is textured, which stylewise is pretty cool.
I played WoW and bf2142 last night for around 4 hours and the heat levels seemed quite acceptable (I have it sitting on a targus chill mat with the fans off), thought I don't have any hard numbers to give you on temp or 3dmark. Perhaps this weekend.
The numpad is a bit squished (again compared to the zd8000) but quite usable. I used the microphone with Ventrilo last night while playing WoW and I was understandable, albeit a 'bit far from the mike' per some comments. I played around with the vent settings to increase the input volume and it seemed to work better (the mic boost in vista make it sound horrible). I don't see any function/hotkeys to control the fans, and couldn't find anything about it in the manual, but perhaps I missed something. I do like that I can turn the touchpad off with FN-F1, the zd8000 had a button for that too and it's quite useful, at least for me.
Anyway, that's my two cents for the moment. -

Will this be offered soon in any of the Sager laptops?
I really want to purchase a NP2090, but wish it had the 8700m. -
Agent CoolBlue Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
I think it'll be an option for the Sager NP5790, not the Sager NP2090.
-
The 8700m GT is for 17" , but how about using the search button?
-
Get the 5790 with the 7950GTX.
-
Anyone else that's got theirs in want to give us a short review?
-
*sigh*...I don't have money to upgrade to WUXGA...:'(

1)Quick question...Newegg...is it turstworthy, because I've seen a lot of people mention it here...never heard about it tho..

I think I'll stop here before I start sounding like an advertisement for Newegg, but really, you have nothing to worry about with them.
-
Thanks a lot guys....I'll consider both..
-
I love Newegg and their fast shipping, sometimes it can be as fast as ordering one day and the package at your door exactly 24 hours later.
-
+1 on newegg being great. I've dealt with them many times, and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.
Like for any company though, keep an eye on the return policy. For example they sell LCD TV's, but they won't take any back for any reason. If there is a problem you would need to go through the manufacturer. Just something to keep in mind. -
I was looking at the sager website. Customized my specs for the np5790 and went to cheak out. You have to see the price quoted for my specs. Hehe If I order this do they have to honor the quoted price. Legally its a quote not an estimate.

Nice specs and price for sure.
I would recommend to order the notebook through:
.... because they are great for service/support, while using Sager as the hardware support if needed. -
That has to be a bug. I just tried to do the same thing and my price was much higher.
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
The pricing on that notebook you had configured is way too low . . . I would check the reputability of that website.
Either that, or it's a mistake on their end. But there is no way you can get those specifications for $1,799. That sounds like a starting price.
Edit: You know what, that site looks really similar to Sager's site (unless it is Sager's site . . . ) - www.sagernotebook.com. I've never heard of that website you have listed before. -
That is the starting price because those costs next to the upgraded parts haven't been factored into the price yet.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
I don't know how you found that site, but it is not the Sager website. It is Sager's webhost's development server and is not intended for public view.
Legally you have nothing... -
-
Dappa69 I configured a bit less with 2.0GHz/2GB RAM/100GB 7200RPM/8700GT and I had $1979....so it had to be a bug...
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
It is when you put it in your shopping cart that the default beginning price shows up without the cost of any upgrades that you have added.
The point is that it is a live development site and not for commercial use. No orders placed from that website will be honored. -
Yeah I agree too. Actually I thought it might be some sort of scam site to phish credit card details.
-
Back on topic..... CAN'T WAIT!
-
Okay, I'm going to throw this to fate.
I can't decide between WUXGA and 1680x1050. It's cheaper, and would allow me to get a 2.2GHz, but then WUXGA is more preferable and nicer-looking, but only allows me a 1.8GHz (or 2.0).
Best 2/3. The next three people to post in this thread, please say either WUXGA or the other one, and best 2/3 I will choose. Man, this is a ****ty way to spend my weekend. -
The 2.0 GHz is the optimal price point, since it has the larger cache size. So go ahead and get that and the WUXGA so you won't have to wait as much longer.
-
I don't mind the wait; I mind the price.
My vote is also for WUXGA. Oh, would you look at that? Two people said WUXGA. Hi-def it is!
Yeah, so, anyone planning on reviewing this beast in the near future?
EDIT: HFS! it's $2009 with 2.0GHz and WUXGA. I was really planning on sub 1900. Dammit! Help?
EDIT2: I FIGURED IT OUT!I'll buy it without processor, and hopefully by the time it arrices, I'll have enough money to buy a 2.2GHz off of Newegg with next-day shipping!
ZOMFGWTFBBQ I CAN'T WAIT! -
I'd say WSXGA+ and get the better processor, IMO. I'm typing on my desktop with a 20.1" LCD monitor that's in WSXGA+, and I think the size, resolution, desktop space, and price was perfect. WUXGA on a 17" might be a bit small, considering I sorta consider WSXGA+ on 20.1" to be on the "small side" of resolution text readability.
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
Resolution is all personal preference. Personally I think WUXGA on a 17" is very readable. Then again, I use SXGA+ (1400x1050) on my 12" ThinkPad . . .
You're not going to notice a difference between 2.0 and 2.2GHz. I'd get the 2.0GHz. -
Right. Configuration is in my signature. Rate it?
Oh, and does the wireless card accept ONLY n? Or will I still be able to use my current router? -
All new Wi-fi technologies (like Wireless-N) is fully backwards compatible to the previous technologies (Wireless-B/G)
And that system in your sig is definitely one of the best systems out there... even though its being phased out. I know my notebook is like that now, its being phased out, but still owns in gaming and performance. -
wooo!! phase1!! .... how many phases are there?!?!
