Well, he's happy and numb. Don't ruin his moment. Either way, it doesn't really matter. His notebook should come soon.

But for $600 I cut out Vista in favor of Linux, got only 1GB of RAM, and a 2.2GHz CPU. And only an 80GB 5400. It's still a pretty good deal, in my opinion, for the price I got.

EDIT: But I guess the price makes sense. What with TV tuner being $110 for Vista and all.

Another Friday ship, but mine's arriving Thursday... too bad I'm across the states.

My order was placed July 10th, so it looks like they're moving nicely through the WUXGA orders, at least. :)

Just received mine today from Power Notebooks. WUXGA screen and base setup. Loving it so far, even though the layout of the jacks and such is a little funny.

By the way, does anybody know if there is a particular hotkey for turning the computer's fans up to full power? I read that such a command has been available on Sagers in the past, but I didn't see it listed in the manual.

Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

    Congrats on the new beast.

it should be Fn+1 for the new Clevo notebooks.

    Tell me if thats correct.

    ____________________________
    And...

Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:

    1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
    - you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
    - when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
    - OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place [remember to use it occasionally to charge and discharge it].

2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
    - ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
    - RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
    - check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
    - ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating

By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years.

Yeah, mine shipped too. It's all so exciting. I just hope I don't hear about success in building a quad-core notebook in the near future... Eh, it'll probably improve my quality of life dramatically even if it isn't quad core. ;)

    Thanks Gophn.

After installing the hotkey drivers, I tried using Fn + 1 and I didn't see any change. I didn't hear the fans kick up, and nothing showed up on the screen.

Should I see some sort of notification on the screen telling me that the fans have been started up?

Is the fan hotkey a Sager feature or Clevo? Because I scrolled through the Clevo manual from their hp and there is no fan hotkey mentioned. Fn + F1 is mousepad on/off according to the manual...
Is there a way to map it to a hotkey?

I am trying to confirm the Fan Toggle within the Clevo M570RU.

the manual does not show it.

So if you want to boost your fan speed, try the GetThermal software.

But you should not worry, the notebook has temp sensors that will keep the temps cool

Read this for GPU temps monitoring:

    Pfft... overheating? Not a problem.

I'ma purchase that nice sleek black cooler. And put a couple of fans around it (I mean FANS. Like the ones used in wind tunnels). That should take it down to the ability to just barely cook an egg on the CPU.

Nah. No need to be worried. I just want a docking station for this big guy. I JUST ordered, like, 3 minutes ago :) But I have no idea why RJTech asked me for my bank phone number... just put the credit-card people support phone number. Hope it won't make a difference.

I had a problem with my credit card when xoticpc tried to verify some information on it. Apparently I needed to contact the bank that issued the card and give them permission for xoticpc to have it. Took a couple days to solve but oh well, it's fixed now.

can anybody who has one of these confirm that their firewire chipset is by texas instruments?

I've heard both via and texas instruments, so this is a little confusing.

    yukonbob... pictchas and review!

BigP: the difference is really not that great. It's just crisper. It's a lot more noticeable if you ever plan to use your notebook with a projecter (which I will be doing). It's not that bad for gaming either, especially considering that you have a 7950GTX. It's a great card. If you've got the money, go for it!

Jarettdad, thanks for reminding me. Chances are that I'll not be home when mine comes, and I just called RJTech and requested that they make it into a signiature package. So they said "OK." Now I'll have to be at home to receive it, and UPS won't just leave it at my doorstep for anyone to steal.

If you're not worried about someone stealing it, then no, no signiature is the standard procedure.

Yes you are right! Well I've been fiddling with it all afternoon and decided that I have to install 32 bit Vista because I just can't install WOW or MOH. Office 2007 went fine though but forget it if I can't play a couple games.

I am very happy I went with the WUXGA, it just blows my current desktop 17" regular LCD away. It's gorgeous! The orange trim is really nice, more like a burnt coppery orange than the bright orange I thought it would be. It looks very classy to me.

Is the difference between the T7500 and the T7300 worth the price? I can technically afford either (the T7700 is definitely too much), but will it really make a difference?

To anybody who has it already: What video card driver version is included with it? (for Vista 32-bit, although 64-bit probably has the same version number)

I'm trying to figure out if I should just install the drivers that are on the CD, or try to find something newer from LaptopVideo2Go or something.

Alright, it looks as though I'm going to be the first one to review it for NBR. I ordered it last night off of RJTech and it's supposed to come next week. But I needa buy Windows XP somewhere first >.<

Joga, I would assume that the latest nVidia driver would be included. The one for Vista. I can't remember what it is right now. But it would be counterintuitive to include a driver for Vista which is not made for Vista.
