I definitely like having LCTRL in the right spot too. The notebook is remarkably solid. I have to hold down the base while lifting the lid because the fit is so good. I imagine that hold will loosen to a more reasonable level eventually, but I can't say I mind it.

I think I'll be running 32-bit operating systems on it a little longer, which is a shame. Getting the 4965agn working in Linux seems like a bit of a pain. I'm hoping ndiswrapper works better in 32-bit than in 64-bit. I'm sure the official open-source driver will make it's way into the kernel in no time, and then I'll switch back to 64-bit.

From what Justin told me is about 7 business days. But from the page where I put my order the shipping method part says it's about 3-5 business days...

EDIT: just checked and in my order the shipping method is " International USPS Global Express Mail EMS (3 -5 days - Please Email for additional International Options)". I wonder if it will really take 3-5 days only for the laptop to arrive to my house in Adelaide...

I got my tracking order today, but I thought there was some sort of shipping delay because I lived in california yet my ETA is August 2nd, 2007 which is in 3 days( I got 3 day shipping, UPS blue) Justin said there would be a 1 day delay but...O_O. I guess this is better for me, yayyyy!!!!

jeez...18 pounds? The laptop is only 8 pounds...I only got the laptop with an OS...I wonder what the other 10 pounds can be...I can only recall a case...oh well this is too exciting...

The sound quality is good, its need some configuration within the RealTek software.

Set the Environment option to Carpeted Hallway.
And if you want even more quality, set the Equalizer to Soft (as in Soft Rock)

Try it, it worked well for several people, using WinAmp especially.

God dammit. I was really hoping the notebook would come today. It's 2.30 PM and still no Brown. Maybe tomorrow? :(

I only live 800 miles away... how long does it take that ****ty van to get here?

And I'm kind of bummed about the speakers. I was hoping they'd be good enough to last me until my speakers arrive so I wouldn't have to use my dad's speakers. Are they not worthy of games? I mean, does that equalizer thing work well enough?

What's your estimated delivery date? I would be more excited if it said "Out for Delivery" than an arrival scan in your city, as it could take them a day to sort it out then put it on the truck for actual delivery.

In your Control Panel or START menu, there should be something that says "Sound Manager" or "Realtek Audio Manager"

Is it possible for the onboard audio to do 5.1 analog audio and take a mic input at the same time? It seems like only 3 of the 4 jacks can be remapped using the included software. (I'm not even going to think about how it works in Linux yet...)

I'll tell ya in a few days ;) I'm hoping my laptop gets here about mid to late next week. I tell ya what though, there are lots of excited people hangin out to get theirs too. It seems like such a long time to wait! :(

I just sent money (tuesday morning) by bank transfer (wire) to xotic. They reckon not been received yet. Anyone know how long that usually takes? I think that's what's holding my order up.

I'm sorry if you find it offensive, but I find it rather offensive when people try to force their religious opinions upon me. If you don't like it, suck it up. That's all I can say, sorry.

Kryptik: if they have not yet sent you some email or letter giving you your final price, DO NOT SEND THE CHECK. Only when they give you your FINAL price can you send it.

thats the thing in the email it has the price and then the subtraction of the rebate but technically it doesnt say "Final price: blah blah" so i guess i should wait for another email saying "ok weve processed the order and heres your final price after the rebate you should send your payment now" or something to that extent

Hmm... if it gives you the rebate but doesn't say "final price" or anything, you should a) call them and ask, or b) wait until they give you another email. Or just email/PM Justin@XoticPC so he can give you more information. But that's quite an ambiguous message. They should be more clear.

Back ordered from Clevo, or just from PowerNotebooks? And I'm assuming you're talking about the WSXGA+ screens :p

It is Sager/Clevo that is back ordered on the nVIDIA 7950 GTX video card for this model (they are fine for the NP9260), and they are also back ordered on the WSXGA+ screens. However the WUXGA screens with the nVIDIA 8700M are now coming in regularly.

Unfortunately are we put into the same situation with the 7950GTX. Sager/Clevo have a shortage on this card for the 5790. Sager is scheduled to have the 8700 in this week (today/tomorrow) and finalize testing. Once testing is finalized the 8700 will be shipping regularly. Anyone that wants to switch to the 8700 will get $100 refunded if the 7950 was originally ordered.

If anyone who ordered though us would like to change please email us and we can do so immediately.

We apologize for this situation with the 7950GTX :(

(For those who dont email/call we will be emailing through all customers with the 7950GTX)

It almost seems like I was not meant to ever recieve the laptop I really wanted. First the WSXGA+ and now the 7950GTX!?!?!?
The amazing price I was getting for the two of those was why I wanted this laptop in the first place =( Now I don't know what I should do....
