i have received my P651HP6-G and have to say that its a really good TN panel. The viewing angles are better than any TN i have seen before. In my opinion its absolutely satisfying my needs. I'm glad i did not take the 60Hz IPS variant.

Could you make a video of it just to show what the angles are? Linus made one to compare IPS and TN but those were monitors and... a little outdated...

I got the AUO 120Hz panel installed in my Eurocom Tornado F5 and it's amazing. It is perfect for a gaming laptop that doesn't need the perfect color accuracy for professional work. I had the IPS 60Hz Gsync LG before and the difference is night and day.

It reminds me of my desktop 1440p 144Hz Gsync TN panel. The colors are a bit more washy but the brightness, response time, viewing angles and refresh rate are excellent.

    Love this panel!

I'm glad people are saying good stuff about those 120Hz 5ms panels. That makes me think less and order mine with no regrets.
Are there any testing results out yet for the 17.3" 1440p 120Hz 5ms ? I wan't to know if it's really 5ms or at least close.

I have it and love it. Picture has a lot of character and I would call it 'different style' rather than a defect or problem.

Do you use it for gaming?

I saw some tests on notebookcheck and its response time is 10ms/30ms, nothing close to the advertised 5ms. That's a shame.
I mean, an IPS panel has slightly higher response time (around 20ms/35ms) but with much better color quality and view angle, and cheaper!

As per AOU, it has 8ms response time, 5ms is not accurate...it also has a h/w frame pre-load-buffer for g-sync, so unless they tested with g-sync enabled their numbers maybe off.

I have been playing quiet a bit of WD2 online and have zero problems in RL.

They also just used a different method to get really good side to side viewing angles compare to regular TN panels, hence the different look of the image.

I got my AUO B156HTN05.2 and new eDP cable today from Eurocom. Install went smooth. G-Sync is enabled and it is 120Hz. The colors are definately not as nice as an IPS but maybe I will try calibrating it with my i1Display Pro.

EDIT: the ICC profile from Notebookcheck actually looks fairly good so I'm just going to use that for now.

The panel is amazing IMO. I wish Eurocom would provide me with a BIOS that adds the monitor to the BIOS whitelist and enables G-Sync. Maybe @Prema can provide support for this?

    Still about 17.3" 1440p 120Hz 5ms TN.
Eurocom says their model is AUO B173QTN01.0, HidEvolution says AUO B173QTN01.3.
Do you know if that is correct? And what is the difference between the panels?

I calibrated my B156HTN05.2 using a X-Rite i1Display Pro, DisplayCAL v3.2.3.0 and ArgyllCMS v1.9.2. Set to sRGB, 6500K whitepoint, and 120cd/m^2 white level. Calibration speed was set to low. Profile quality was high, 1136 patches. Looks good to me, not washed out like with no calibration. Brightness was set to 30% as that was closest to 120cd/m^2. Full folder, including ICC profile: http://www.mediafire.com/file/zt5m96o14edh6s1/B156HTN05.2_#1_2017-02-08_18-09_120cdm²_0.3127x_0.329y_sRGB_S_XYZLUT_MTX.zip

The 15 inch is TN based so will offer worse viewing angles but less light blead and faster pixel response times.

I wonder how the 120Hz panel fare against the AUO B156HAN01.2 (for me the best 6-bit panel). I side by side comparison would be awesome, I'll try to get hold of one... but it's hard to get them.

Where are you located? They go for around $70 USD on most etailer's sites here (Amazon, eBay, even WalMart had it at one point).

I'm getting mixed results about the 120hz screens interface if anyone could help clarify

N173HHE-G32 - I have been hearing it's 30pin and 40pin on the screen side interface. I can't even find any close up pictures of the actual screens back. Is anyone able to confirm?

What screen are manufacturers using for their 1080p 120hz screens?

I currently have a 40pin eDP in one of my laptops, I want to change it from a B173ZAN01.1 to a 120hz screen, preferably 5ms. I tried the
B173QTN01.0 but it didn't really function perfectly in the P870DM-G (some flickering, some GPU subsys problems)

Honestly, 4k on a laptop and especially 15" is totally overrated... And it kills your eyesight when you try to use it without scaling.. Better off with 1080p IPS IMO!

A nice fast 1080p panel is great for cards like the 1060 and 1070 or even just office use. The fluidity makes everything feel nicer.

    Hi.

I got the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with gtx 1050ti and i7 7700. First i replace the bad TN with a samsung PLS. Perfect. Now i got this monitor

    http://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/shop/AU-OPTRONICS-AUO-B156HTN05.2-15.6__183900.asp

120Hz Work perfect, but remember, no G-Sync. Colors are okay. but not close to samsung PLS scrren i had before. its 30 pin.

here are a film of the PLS screen i put into it.

@Krustybbr you need to install the BIOS version that has the G-Sync cookie included.

And I can't for the life of me find the right 40pin cable for the B173ZAV01.0 to replace the P670's 30pin cable. Any suggestions?

The P650 has a 4k upgrade (which is 40pin) so I'm assuming the P670 has a 40pin even if vendors don't sell it with anything but the stock FHD IPS screen. The P670 lineup needs 120Hz or 4k options, seriously lol.

The AUO is the only panel I am aware of that lets you go that to that refresh rate.

Not officially, but you can use the 40p, 4-lane eDP cable from the P770ZM (6-43-P7701-011-C). The P65*SE's is too short to physically reach the lcd connector when installed on the P67*S* systems.

Hi, does the panel in your link really do 120hz ? It says in its title that it is not a 120hz panel. I just wanted to know since it seems way cheaper than on ebay.

    Thank you.

Anyone with the 17.3" models using B173QTN01.0 (2560x1440 120hz 5ms G-Sync) try out B173QTN01.4 that is available on Alienware 17R4 now? You can buy them off eBay right now for $130 US it seems. The new 1.4 revision fixes the alternating black lines and according to some 17R4 reviewers has some color accuracy improvements over 1.0 revision as well.
I am guessing that the panel will successfully display but you might lose G-Sync support without the panel info being in the vBIOS yet of the G-Sync supported nVidia card.
Would be awesome to get some confirmation. ;)
