laptopscreen will probably sell you a compatible display, not what your looking for.

Inquire with laptopscreen's support about whether they're selling that exact make/model, or if you may end up with a "compatible"/likewise panel as skandal mentioned. That's a huge price gap, which makes it a little suspicious.

No matter the seller if I need an exact panel I would call and check for sure first.

Just did. It was 60hz. Weird why people here have the same model on their P870DM3 but is 120hz gsync. Will have to go with ebay then.

Are double sided tapes mandatory when replacing panels despite having screws?

If the screws line up then you don't need tape.

Might help to secure it in place while you put the screws in, but otherwise the screws by themselves are adequate.

Just opened it again and it seems tightly secured. Anyway. My current panel ( LP173WF4 SPF1) is gsync capable. Will the new panel's ( B173HAN01.1) gsync work?

In theory it should, I don't think it's hard coded anywhere to only accept one specific display. As long as the system and display are both compatible, I would think it should run.

I'm planning on purchasing this Laptop and it's awesome news that you were able to install a 120Hz panel. Also in that link http://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/shop/AU-OPTRONICS-AUO-B156HTN05.2-15.6-NOT-120HZ__183900.asp it says NOT 120Hz but it guess they just meant to put 120Hz before the NOT. I'm assuming it is 120Hz and it's at a really cheap price and I don't really care that much about colors so I'll be sure to buy it and install it. Thanks for posting your experience. Been looking for 120Hz laptops and don't want to dish out $1500+ so this is a perfect option.

Edit: Seems like this is the best 120Hz display and it is indeed 120Hz and there really are no other options. I looked on Reddit and it seems that it is simply unscrew and screw so it's easy to install. The only problem people seemed to have is that the brightness could not be adjusted so it's always on maximum (This does reduce battery a bit).

Ooh, thanks. It is really nice. Have you been able to fix the brightness adjustment problem? Try drivers from the manufacturer website? Maybe you can go to settings and make it 60Hz and try to change brightness? then go back to 120Hz? Either way, I think it is worth the upgrade ^^

The battery life is around 5 hours. Last night i watch 5 episode of twin peaks and got around 30 min left after that. :)

Is a new cable necessary to upgrade from 60hz to 120hz? Assuming both are 30pin and same plug locations

Few previous posters in this thread mention their Inspiron 15, which runs the 15.6" IPS screen, was just a direct swap. I've been chatting with another user about his upgrade, and eurocom advised him to get a different cable, which he said looked identical aside from part # written on it

Thought maybe a reseller could chime in whether they use the same cable

So long as the pin count and type is the same you should be good. None of the cables are special so that the pins do different functions.

    Just incase anyone googles it:

    P750DM2-G upgrade to 120hz b156htn05.2 screen from 60hz IPS LP156WF6

This is a direct upgrade, no other cable necessary, just plugs right in and boots up. I am missing GSYNC while another user mainted GSYNC, presumably due to him having premabios and me being on a stock clevo bios.

Agreed with others, screen is awesome, colors are great

Can someone help me find a screen replacement for my laptop Asus ROG GL502VS? I need the 120Hz Gsync version or at least the 60Hz with GSync. I've search everywhere, even ordered one from laptopscreen.com but is was only 60Hz and no GSync.
I would need this AU OPTRONICS B156HAN04.3 or this LP156WF6-SPB6 but I can't find it with gsync and 60/120Hz

    Hey

I'm looking to upgrade my panel on P870DM-G, currently i have LP173WF4-SPF1, it's an IPS with only 60hz and overclocking maxes out at 65hz. More than that image starts to degrade.

I'v already ordered the 40-pin eDP 4-lane cable, that should enable to use better panels.

The laptop is used in gaming most of the time, so 120hz and max resolution 1440p should be max. 4k is too demanding at the moment. Looking for a 120hz panel with good quality. I'v got a gtx 1060 gpu in it, maybe it can run games at 1440p ok.
1060 is the non g-sync version, so the panel doesn't need to have it. Still works too if panel has g-sync.

Options at the moment seem to be:

    All 17,3"
AUO B173QTN01.4 120hz TN 2560*1440 , new version of B173QTN01.0 that has the banding issue fixed
    Chi Mei N173HHE-G32 TN 120Hz 1080p 5ms
    B173HAN01.2 120hz AHVA

Leaning towards the 1440p B173QTN01.4, are there any new panels worth getting in the near future?

    Hi,

Have been into all 34 pages and eurocom website (only FHD @60Hz), but just for clarity; is their any 120hz options for 750ZM (currently with 4k screen)?

    Regards,

Why is that, because normally panels do work with different laptop manufacturers? Or is there a way to make it work? Since this seems to be the best panel at the moment...

Dunno why that is, but they were probably asked to be produced by Dell specifically. Im not sure exactly why.
As for making it work, im working on a way to figure out a way to dump and modify the EDID, but haven't had much time because of a busy work schedule.

    There is nothing called 3K, there is FHD (1920x1080), QHD / 2k (2560x1440), UHD / 4k (3840x2160).

3K is more or less a marketing moniker that usually refers to 2880 x 1620. It's a thing, just no official designation for it.

Decided to take a risk and ordered a B173QTN01.4 from taobao https://world.taobao.com/item/55750...a.7700824.w4002-16538486513.14.6f1cbbceOVhBI7

Looking at the photos, it seems not to have any Dell part numbers on it. Was only ~80€ delivered

I just call it QHD , it's just easier , cause you have so many resolutions of QHD .
