thanks but I don't speak portugese and don't know if they are good company
-
I'll probably hold myself from buying one of these, but when Haswell hits, I'm certain I'll go for the best of best..
Man. Staying on the bleeding edge of technology is so hard. -
@ fantomasz
I understand you, I would feel the same way if I was in your position, for me it's diferente because I live in a 20 Kms distance of the store and I can go there and pay and bring the goods right away
I can tell you that i was very pleased with my first contact with them, I emailed them regarding the P170EM and they phoned me to anser my questions regarding the productThat's what i call a good service.
Good luck shopping your laptop, i'm gonna follow you soon
Can't wait to get my hands on a new machine -
what configuration You chose? They have cheaper prices than german or uk resellers?
I would like to hear from You when You receive it. -
-
Not that big of a performance jump but huge battery life jump and lower heat levels!
-
Hm, doesnt sound like they will be releasing a laptop with SB and Kepler
kepler is all i care about and waiting for ivy is just wasted time for me
-
-
-
There will be plenty of Ivy + Kepler laptops but probably not until April 29th; thats when Samsung, Acer, HP, and Lenovo are supposed to release theirs. I hope Clevo comes out with a SB + Kepler within the next 2 weeks. If not I might just get one of the new Acer or Lenovo gaming laptops with GTX 660m and IVB as they will have very good specs for about $1,200- $1,400. I just wish the 3rd Gen Hybrid Seagate hard drives would come out; I want 16GB SSD cache with 750GB or 1TB HD space. That would be amazing. The current 8 GB version seems sort of low.
Seriously it's killing me not having a good computer. I have D3 Beta and BF3 and I can't play them because now I'm just using my girlfriends dual core 6 year old laptop with 3GB ram and iGPU... :/
Grrrr -
3 hours is already wishful thinking ^^
as for ivy/kepler/optimus, 5 hours is actually quite feasible, seeing that this MSI Barebone by One.de (German MSI/Clevo barebone reseller) provides 4h38min of battery time when surfing the net on maximum(!!) display brightness (config: 2920XM / GTX 670M / 16GB). so with a few adjustments 5 hours should definitely be reachable
cheers -
-
Now thats some good stuff to hear! I figured 5-6 was pretty easily obtainable; why wouldn't it be? I think some people don't realize how much power the GPU sucks up. [hint *THE MAJORITY OF IT* lol]. If I could get 6-7 with 1/4 Brightness and no wifi just taking notes in class that'd be great. Hopefully with wifi + no brightness and a little internet use it could still get 4-5 hours. I might just get 2 batteries so when I'm at school I don't have to worry and can easily pull 8 hours ha. Oh man these need to hurry and release -_-. Also which resellers have good payment options? I'm considering using this laptop purchase as a way to build credit and get a little more pricy laptop since I'll have at least 4-6 months to pay it. I'd like to spend $1,600 or so and get the 150em with GTX 675m and a SSD and a HDD, but I would want to pay half down and half in payments over 6 months or so; any resellers allow no interest if paid within 6-12 months? That would be amazing!

Looks like Malibal updated their website to offer the P170EM. Everything looks the same to me, except for a $225 upgrade option from the 560M to the 675M.
-
Financing Offer - MALIBAL
I really wish more resellers had legitimate financing offers though. I have the money, but I too would like to use this purchase to establish some credit.. Gotta start somewhere I guess. -
$225 uprgrade from 560m to 675m?
....That iis a nice price!
-
AlwaysSearching Notebook Evangelist
If that is accurate I guess the 675 is really better -
What do you think the price will be on the P150EM with a a small upgrade on the ram to 12G and a SSD?
-
-
Malibal and Mythlogic both has P17Em with Gtx675 =] on their website...i can't wait for the p150em =]

I'm thinking of getting a 240GB and using my 750GB external for everything; do you guys think that a 240GB SSD is enough for 64 Bit Windows + Photoshop Suite + my normal dozen or so small programs + a handful of games [probably 5-10 games at any given time].
I figure the OS will take like 40-50GB and my programs maybe a combined 15GB, and my games probably about 70GB. Then I'll have a little storage left like 70 GB and that will leave me space for the SSD to not be full, I heard you are only supposed to run them at like 75-85% capacity and never fill them?
I am either going to do this or just get the 750GB hybrid drive which I had before and it worked pretty decently. I just wish 240GB SSD's were cheaper; like $200, then I'd buy 2 and just be set... Maybe I can get a 120GB SSD and a 500GB HDD in the p150em, does it have 2 slots for HDs? -
-
The pricing on the Malibal P170EM is quite good. Hopefully the $100 differential from the P170/150HM applies as well to the P170/150EM.
-
I'm hoping the difference is $150; because I really have no need for a 17" laptop. It would be nice but it's just not that portable. 15.6" seems to be the perfect size; I'd even go for a 14" if it had the GTX 670m and a i7 2670 and 8 GB RAM. It might get a little too hot though.
On another note; Do you guys think its worth waiting for Ivy Bridge? I'm under the assumption that it won't help that much. The battery savings will probably be less than 15% compared to Sandy Bridge; they will probably run a lot cooler and be a good 15-20% more powerful though for the same price. But April 29 is a long time to wait when we can get SB + Kepler and the 150em or 151em next week! Grrr -
some people think that the gain is about 1-2 hours on battery life. I personally think the wait is worth it especially if your a college student like me or like going to coffee shops or library to study. It just makes it easier plus, the brick is huge so not having to plug that sucker in for good 3-4 hours is definitely worth it! Im as anxious as you waiting to order the p150em. I want a computer before Diablo 3 comes out!...LOL
-
4 more freaking days -_- Then I get to order one of these beasts Grrr. I wish that backlit keyboard was chiclet with lighting in between the keys. It looks like it is going to be so much harder to type on compared to the 151hm. I often have to type papers etc. and even get paid occasionally to type up documents for professors [ i type over 80 WPM without errors ]. I don't like to have to use an external keyboard so this is a big deal to me. I'll probably just get the p151em and GTX 660m + i7 2670 + 8GB ram + 750GB Hybrid seagate drive. Don't know how much better the 660m will perform compared to GTX 560m but with OC'ing I hope it can hit GTX 570 or 670 levels. Since its Kepler I think it will run cooler and that might make it possible to out perform the 670 with some 15% OC or so. Notebook review is saying the 670 is only about 15% more powerful than the 660 anyways.
And Fredrick I'm in your same exact boat. I think we'll get an additional 2-3 hours though not just 1-2. Optimus is a huge plus on the battery life. If we wait for Ivy Bridge I'm guessing it will add something like 30-45 minutes more; not as big of a deal as completely turning off the GPU of course but still a good 10% gain in battery [thats just my estimate]. I just want 5-6 hours for in class if I dont have an outlet. If I'm in the library/coffee shop between classes I'll definitely just plug in though; because it's not that big of a hassle and if it's a break from class I might want to do some gaming -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
The next generation processor will have virtually no affect on battery life, what will affect it is Optimus. So Sandy Bridge or the next generation processor just won't make any really noticeable difference.
-
Thanks paladin44, I was thinking Optimus was 90% of the battery saving and maybe 10% would be from Ivy Bridge because it sucks less power; but the Optimus is the hugest improvement by far. I hope the new version 1.2 works allot better than the last version; I don't want to lose FPS :'(
-
So paladin does that mean The GTX 660 comes with Optimus or does Optimus only come with the Ivy Bridge. If I have GTX 660m p151em + Sandy Bridge w/ Optimus then that'll still be awesome.
-
Molite all of the 6 series will have optimus; sandy bridge or ivy bridge doesn't matter [because they both support it], what matters is the motherboard and if its wired to run optimus; the new clevo models 151em , 150em, 170em, will all be wired for optimus because they will all be running the 6 series graphics cards!
I'm looking to do the same build as you basically; I want 2670 i7, 8GB ram, 750GB hybrid drive from seagate, and GTX 660m. All on a P151em. I would go 670m but I feel the battery life won't be as good as the 660m, and it will run much hotter because it's not Kepler like the 660m is.
The GTX 660m should have some nice headroom for OC'ing at least 15-20% because from what I've read it runs about 8C cooler than the GTX 560m did [due to it being Kepler and 28nm instead of 40nm or whatever Fermi was]. Meaning we have about 8C of OC room to play with -
So when do you guys think the resellers update their website? It's 4/4 and the NDA is supposed to end at the stoke of midnight. Will it be updated right at midnight or will we have to wait till morning before ordering?
-
I'm hearing from some people that it ends the 5th and from others that it ends the 8th. I'm officially confused as hell.
-
Sigh, I just want to order already. This money is burning a hole in my pocket.
-
I feel you; the sad thing is I had a P151Hm with GTX 560m and returned it because of the lack of battery life. The 660m with Optimus should get at LEAST double the life on battery. So I'm waiting for it to come out so that I have actual decent battery life when I have to use it for school and don't have an outlet. The Clevo's are great quality and very legit for gaming and photoshop I just can't wait to have a new one with slightly improved graphics + Optimus!!!

So it ends on the 8th? thats what RJ Tech told me.
-
-
NDA ends on the 8th.
-
Hopefully resellers will have some decent back to school promos on these babies this summer
-
But I can understand for those who've been waiting a while that another 3 days might seem like an eternity... reminds me of when I was a kid and waiting for Christmas morning or something haha. Awesome how a computer (electronics maybe in general) can do that to us, well me anyways -
NDA ends on the 8th,
These laptops ship on the third/last week of April. (29th?)
So it may be a while before we actually see any machines in the hands of our forum members. -
Bummer. I'm certain I saw on a couple occasions XoticPC employees saying the NDA and deferred shipping end dates were both on April 5th. Must have been some confusion on their part. Three more days of waiting I guess...
-
Accidental double post. Sorry.
-
-
are you kidding me ive been waiting for the 5th for like a month now...
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
It is Intel's NDA, not Sager's.
The $50 deferred shipment special has just been extended by Sager to the 6th. -
Yeah so we will know on Suday :/
-
What now its the 8th?...i swear to god, xoticpc or some reseller mentioned that the NDA will be lifted on the 5th..wahhhh....3 more days of pain..LOL
