Yeah, I don't think it would make sense for the 151EM to come with the 670M stock. Why would they offer the 660M if it wasn't gonna be stock? I could be wrong though.. I think I've been wrong once or twice before

It could be an April Fools joke, but its kinda not the season for that. Guess the P1xxEM manual would mean that if I want a GTX 660M I would have to pay a premium for that.

Nvidia is being stingy with Kepler GPU. Why did they even bother with the GTX 670M? They should have just scrapped the GTX 670M altogether in the first place. For me the performance increase for the GTX 670M is negligible compare to the lower TDP that the 660M is offering. I would still take the GT 650M over the rebadged GTX 670M.

I might just cancel my order and wait until I can get a Kepler without having to pay a premium for it.

This is why I held off in the first place, I don't like going in blind on anything. Also I think the Lenovo y580, which comes with pretty much the same specs as these Clevos will have the 660m. Sadly it doesn't come out until May or June, or whatever IB comes out.

Rumor has it that IB will be coming out late April, but only the higher end i7 models

Seconded, but I have been waiting since mid last year... >"<

I don't want to be pessimistic until I know for sure, but my anticipation for the EM models is now becoming one big disappointment. I waited for months for a soon to be replaced processor with a rebadged GPU. The $50 deferred shipping is not even worth it.

Lol, we still don't know much for sure until the NDA is up. Just because the 670M might be standard, doesn't mean you have to pay more to get a 660M. "Standard" doesn't mean cheapest. I'm not saying you can get the 660M and have it be cheaper, but it's a possibility. Hold off on judgement until you know for sure.

Going in blind and pre-ordering at this point, the only thing you're doing is guaranteeing a $50 discount if you like what you see. You're not obligated to follow through with your purchase (at least not with Xotic). The fool's move, IMO, is to order right after the NDA lifts. I physically can't order until May, otherwise I'd have a preorder in right now.

I didn't really understand the numbers behind all this, but after reading your post it seems that a hybrid HD with 4g's SSD space is almost useless (im referring to the what I believe is a $60 upgrade to the 8131 model).

What would 4g's of SSD be useful for enough to justify that kind of money?

The Hybrid hard drives so make a significant difference compared to a standard platter drive. You will see boot times decrease and also how fast it takes your commonly used programs to start up. They arent as fast as a full SSD but are a good compromise is price, size, and performance. There are alot of videos up on you tube showing the difference between a hybrid and a standard 7200rpm drive.

Edit: I see now how it works, the difference seems to be anything but discreet.

The 750GB hybrid has 8GB of cache; what I want to do is have a cache drive separate that is 60GB SSD built for it; and then a 750GB separate that it is caching for. It's supposedly much better than the seagate hybrids with 4 and 8 gb cache; considering its a 60GB cache. People say you can get near SSD speeds on all of your cached programs etc.

If you're intent on buying one if you like what you see, there's really no downside to putting a pre-order in on one. Today's the last day to do it. You don't pay until you get your configuration squared away and there's no penalty if you decide you don't want one. But you do lock in the $50 discount. :)

I'm beginning to feel like I work for them, but I just want to see people take advantage of good deals. I agree though, I don't think they make it clear enough on the site, but I've seen them talking about it on here a decent amount.

I have no idea why someone wouldn't pre-order, aside from simply not-wanting this computer. I understand some of us have limitations on when we can put in an order, but for anyone considering one of these notebooks, pre-order TODAY! What do you have to lose????

XoticPC.com is the place whose policy I was referring to about the pre-orders. They're good people, but I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the resellers who participate on this forum. They all seem awesome.

It seriously needs to be order time. I don't know if I'm going to wait for ivy but I at least want a gtx 660 if I can't get that I'll spring for the 675m because the upgrade from 670m is probably only like 100 dollars. Gtx 580m performance with optimus would be killer for way cheaper than a 580m build. With ivy bridge would rule but with a 2670qm would be good enough. This and a 60GB cache drive SSD and 500GB or 750 w/ 64mb . I'm in need of this beast. ... might have to get 150em if I want 675 grrr hurry and release

I would recommend GenTech PC or LPC digital over Xotic PC as they are more generous with their discounts. However, you should take this with a pinch of salt, as I haven't actually bought anything. I'm also waiting for the 8th when the NDAs lift.

According to "One Smart Geek" from Mythlogic, their site will update with the new models based on the Clevo chassis on 8th April 0000 EST (GMT -5). Offerings will include the P151EM, P150EM, P170EM, W110ER, W150ER and W170ER. (Mythlogic staff please correct me if I'm wrong)

Refer to the Reseller Feedback thread if you have questions about resellers, but I personally vouch for either LPC-digital or mythlogic.

I've done business with Larry(babyhemi) a few times, every time it's been a pleasure and I can say they have the BEST prices, every single time, when I asked for a quote through email.

Mythlogic has a unique personalized touch to them, they are custom builders and they are enthusiasts like us as well so they run through rigorous testing, install the latest drivers, OC check, etc. that is not available from others. But of course this results in a price premium as they can't buy things in huge amounts to save on the base prices.

Either way you will love the upcoming models, I myself am waiting to see what the models actually are.

Ok I'll be ordering a computer not sure if it will be the 150HM or the 150EM, it will all depend on shipping dates. As I need it before the 1st week of May since I am deploying.

So my question is will a 150HM with a 6990m achieve the same frames as the 150EM with the 675m?

    As some scratch math says 6990m ~ 580m = 675m

    Yes =)

And before the first week of may for an EM is perfectly doable.

Guys I know isn't from Xoticpc or Malibal or other US distributors of P150EM but anyway I'm just giving you to see how are the new configuration. It's the French website of Clevo and has worse options than the US distributors.. However, it gives you an idea for the configuration you can choose.

    Clevo Clevo sur mesure P150EM 15.6" FullHD, i7, Clavier Rétro-éclairé, Ivy Bridge pcw.fr - distributeur Clevo officiel, CLEVO P270WM, CLEVO P150EM, CLEVO P170EM, CLEVO P150HM, CLEVO P180HM, CLEVO P170HM...

    link for all models
Clevo Portables pour Gamers pcw.fr - distributeur Clevo officiel, CLEVO P270WM, CLEVO P150EM, CLEVO P170EM, CLEVO P150HM, CLEVO P180HM, CLEVO P170HM...

Yes, yes it is =) (Without Ivy Bridge processors, with sandy bridge, as IVB doesn't come out till the end of the month)

Yea thats just a seller of Clevo's it isn't CLEVO's french website. Its someone who got lucky with a domain.

Their company was created 1998 and they start sell Clevo 2000 and they are one of the Principal partners with Clevo in Europe. For that reason, I don't think it's just a luck with the website name. However, their prices are very high.

Oh? And where do you intend to find a laptop HDD with 64mb cache? Do tell your source, I want one too!

I second this. Personally I'm going with mythlogic as their phoenix upgrade plan won me over. Sorry for triple post, my 3ds can't seem to find the multi-quote button.

Hehehe :O) That's why I said their prices are very high almost double of what it suppose to be. I have to be crazy to buy from them, but if they pay me why not. :p

I post this site only for general information, to get idea for the new possible configurations of P150EM and P170EM no one has to consider to buy from this site as I saw somewhere that they don't have good customer service and they have speculative prices. However, each person has to decide for himself.

How this post say: New Models Speculation Thread ....

Ivy bridge doesn't come out until the end of what month?

After browsing through that French website, things aren't looking too good for those hoping to get the 660M. I guess I'll continue to wait until 660M becomes available along with Ivy bridge.

Check my previous post I linked to it. It'a a separate drive that's an SSD that acts as a cache for another drive . I'm going to put the storage drive (a 750 GB or 500) in the optical bay . Its the crucial adrenalin

Yes you have to put in your payment info, ;p!!! But when the NDA comes down, they ask you to verify the parts in the computer and "confirm" payment. Unless you confirm, you won't be charged and there isnt a penalty for backing out of your order at that moment.

It's getting so close to the date... I really want to find out what I'm ordering before I actually order it.

Also, can any of the resellers state whether this laptop will have the same ODD replacement needs (9.5mm tall SSD, 12.7mm tall caddy)?

Hey, thanks for the info, didn't know that one. It's good to have other sources of information as sometime we can catch easier the speculators and false companies.

I was mistaken for that reason Clevo About Us pcw.fr - distributeur Clevo officiel, CLEVO P270WM, CLEVO P150EM, CLEVO P170EM, CLEVO P150HM, CLEVO P180HM, CLEVO P170HM... see the part of "Historique"
