I have heard that electronics in general are more expensive in Europe. I don't know why considering they are closer to China than the U.S.
In US it will most definitely be less then that; that is almost $1800 USD WITHOUT RAM, HD, or Optical? Thats just plain retarded.
-
-
They charge roughly $2224 for i7-3720QM, 16GB DDR3 Corsair RAM, 500 GB 7200rpm HDD, and a GTX 675M, and a blu ray player.
I could get the same thing on Malibal for $1739.
Not sure if I could even find another config in Europe, lol -
You can't simply do a currency conversion and say it's overpriced. He's not paying in USD, he's paying in Euros, and it's a completely different market.
A good example of this is if you watch Top Gear (the original one in the UK). During their review of the BMW 1M, they talk about how the car is 40,000 GBP. If you just do a currency conversion, you'd say it's going to be $60,000 in the US. But it's $45,000. There are way more things that factor in than just converting the currency.
That doesn't mean he's getting ripped off. He's just in a different market. -
That's why I said after that things are generally more in Europe. Usually a good 20 percent . To me in the US it is overpriced . We should get that same model for a few hundreds less.
-
It's because we are special and have VAT.
-
Yeah, it's because of all the import duties and all the sellers have to pay to bring the machine into the EU. I don't think that any of the parts are actually being made in Europe.
Is there an estimated shipping date on that P170EM w/7970m? -
I love Top Gear!

Sorry for continuing OT.

Yeah does anyone have a clue as to when the 7950 and 7990 will be available ? Im hoping for the same release as ivy bridge. Thatd be the smart move for them. We can hope ha . A 3620 with 8 GB RAM and 7950 with a 750 hybrid HD would own and probable only be like 1400 or 1500. I wonder what TDP the 7950 will have . Probably 75w, it'd have to also only require 120w power supply ? It'd be nice if the p151'em would support it. I like the new finish and kayboard on the 150 but it cost 150 more than the 151 and I'd rather put that money towards the graphics card.
I hope seagate makes a 750 or 1tb hybrid with 16GB SSD cache soon , that would sell like crazy if the price was around 200. -
You have a nice car yourself, sir!
I'm done waiting. I will be ordering a P150EM with the following:
95% Matte
2760QM
GTX675
16GB (4x4G) 1600
750GB w/ 8GB SSD Seagate XT
Killer 1103 wireless
Any thoughts from the peanut gallery? -
TwinTurbo
IMHO, i would wait 2 more weeks until Ivy arrives and order the same laptop with 3610QM, but invest in 120Gb SSD + 750Gb regular HDD in ODD bay, rather than in 2760QM CPU -
Thanks for the input. I'm not too worried about IB because the efficiency improvements aren't that important to my usage. The laptop will be plugged in for 95% of the time.
Regarding the SSD, I forgot to list that I'm getting a blu-ray burner in my ODD bay, so an SSD + HDD combo is out. From what I've read, the Seagate XT will be a pretty good compromise. -
Have you considered using an mSATA SSD to boot? Not as fast as a standard SSD but Mythlogic is offering it, so it must work better than a mechanical at least.
-
I'm not terribly familiar with mSATA SSD drives, but from the limited research I've done, I've seen mixed reviews. I guess I'm just not sold on SSD at this point in time. I feel like the price per GB will probably decrease substantially, and I can easily upgrade later if I feel the need. Thanks for the suggestion! I will do a bit more research.
-
Ah, good point. This is why I'm not going to become a businessman anytime soon
-
Anyone should be sold on SSD(speed, power efficiency, noise), it's night and day compared to an HDD, it's the price that they're probably not sold on
. I too am waiting for SSD $/gb drop to upgrade my SSD to SATA III.
-
For those who preordered from xoticpc, Have you guys receive any confirmation order yet??...I'm thinking of waiting for 2 weeks more.. for IB. I want IB + kepler but the wait is too long...i want a computer so can i play D3
-
I'm in the process of purchasing the new P150EM, but as everyone knows, I must wait for IB to be released for public consumption. Will it really be worth the wait or should I just purchase it with SB and upgrade later?

ETA for my Clevo P170EM with AMD 7970M is 3 weeks.
-
I am actually talking on chat right now with Michael S to confirm mine. Well let you know of the outcome.
-
How is the wait too long? It comes out 16 days before D3 comes out, plenty of time for it to arrive before D3 release.
That is, unless you're wanting to play the beta. -
I went ahead and purchased a P170EM. The Ivy just isn't worth the wait anymore. 22nm die shrink? Whoopity-doo; there's a new architecture coming out next year that will make the differences between sandy and ivy processors negligible (if they are not already).
-
Alright, just got off the phone with Derek from XoticPC. He just had me reorder the NP9130 then he can go into the order and give me the discounts.
I just hope I don't get 2 laptops!

Do you guys think this will be a solid gaming laptop in 2 years? I'm not getting it until June/July for my birthday, so replace the CPU with IB and GPU with either 680M or 7970M. I also didn't upgrade to 2760QM and am saving the money to go with an SSD in the ODD bay, good or bad? -
Can anybody confirm that there will be a an option for the 660M with PxxxEM models? I asked Xotic, but they couldn't give me an answer. I cancelled my order to wait for the 660M, but it seems weird since it will technically be a downgrade from the 670M. It makes more sense to see the 660M for the WxxxER models.
-
The IB comes out on april 29 right? Who knows when wil it be on stock. The 660 or 680 will be release in couple more months
-
I'm pretty sure the 660M will only show up the in P151EM1, or at least according to an Australian reseller
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1878798
Info is over a month old, though.
IB is already in stock, Intel has been producing them since Q3 of 2011. Only thing stopping them from releasing it is the fact that they wish to deplete their SB stock first and their own NDA.
The 660M stock should be your major concern, with TSMC 28nm Kepler yields being horribad. -
Is the NDA lift at the end of this month going to be a paper launch with the real launch(as in stuff in retailers/system builders etc hands) a month or so later like X79/SB-Extreme or will IB based product available to buy first week in May ?
-
If you plan to get this machine first until June/July I can confirm that the price WILL change, it WILL differ from now and besides IV will be released (this month) and we'll see the true power or nVidia's power 680M and AMD's 7970M and 7990M
-
I believe the Quad-Core mobile processors will be released on April 29th.
I think it's only a paper launch fro the Dual-Core mobile processors which are set to be released in June.
EDIT:
So guys, my macbook is very close to death, and I want to confirm this one more time. How long will a P150EM with:
i7-2670QM
GTX 675M
8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM
750GB 7200RPM HDD
last? I wish for it to last four years to play games on med-high for a while and as long as I can run games in 3-4 years at a playable FPS on low, I'll be fine. Also, just for schoolwork as well. -
I sure hope that I can put in an order for Ivy Bridge at the end of this month. This whole relaunch thing seems like a big mess for Clevo. People have been waiting for months for soon to be replaced processor and rebadged GPUs. I was set on getting a P151EM Sandy Bridge with a 660M, but 660M is not available and to make it worse the P151EM won't ship until April 20th. If I have to wait that long I might as well wait a bit longer and get Ivy Bridge, but there is still no signs of 660M.
-
Yeah clevo is doing this just to get money out of IB stock . I'm pissed and might just wait for the Lenovo gaming laptops with 660m next month with IB at this rate. Really not liking having to wait for months.
-
yeah, i'm feeling really let down by this whole experience as well... i don't know where to turn, though.
-
I talked to Hutsady on XoticPC live chat yesterday, and it seems firm that configurations with Ivy Bridge are set for April 29th when the NDA lifts........still not ETA on 660m..
-
IVB Will launch on the 29th for sure (Not guaranteed of course i'm not intel, but its looking that way)
-
Someone on the Asus board said that Asus ROG G55 & G75 will launch on the 29th with Ivy bridge and 660M. Hopefully it's true, otherwise I might just have cave in with the 670M.
-
Not to stoke the fire, but there is a web retailer that has the 660m option listed as extended lead time.
-
This or the Lenovo w/ same specs will be dope, I think the new YP580 will have these specs also. The G55 and G57 will come with a Hybrid hard drive 750GB w/ 8GB SSD supposedly, plus IB and 660m, pretty killer if they can pull it off for $1300-1400. I think I heard that the price will be $1450 though, still reasonable considering thats the same cost as the Clevo 151em w/ 2670, 8GB ram, and GTX 670 and the same 750GB 8 GB ssd hybrid + windows 7, which is what the G55 will come with; so basically the same price + with 660m and the price difference of like 50-100 from the GTX 670 is probably because of the Asus "brand name" and the chassis being a little higher quality possibly, the new model looks way nicer than last year; the keyboard looks cleaner and the cooling system looks good.
Time will tell... I'm going to wait till I can see them all online and in reviews/benchmarks. Considering I'm going to spend most of my money on this [I'm only 20] haha. -
I thought the pricing for the G75VW was going to be $1799... it won't come the same price as the P151EM1/P150EM, that's for sure...
-
I'm saying for the 15.6" I think its G55?
-
G55 is set to cost around $1350 for the high end model. There's going to be a lower end one for like $1150 I believe with only 8GB RAM and a different HDD.
-
Yeah I hard 1350 or 1450. I hope; that'd be a good deal.
-
Mine went into production today. If you haven't heard from them, you should email, chat, or call and let them know whether you want it made right now or will wait for IvyBridge.
-
Question do these Clevos have the Thunderbolt display port like in the G55/G75?
-
To the resellers:
Will you retain the $50 deferred shipment discount if you wait for Ivy Bridge processors? -
So from what I'm reading, I won't be able to get a P150EM with a GTX 660M?
-
Yes you can, you just have to wait until Kepler hits.
-
which will be in 1 month or two..
-
ALLurGroceries Vegan Vermin Super Moderator
Thunderbolt has apparently been dropped for the ASUS models.
Edit: I was looking for the source but the employee MarshalR@ASUS who posted it deleted their post. It is still partially visible in google's cache here: https://www.google.com/webhp?ie=utf...ote+the+G75/G55+does+NOT+contain+Thunderbolt" -
Not for the 660M. Indications from the resellers are that it should be ready around the same time as IVB, which is the end of the month.
