The Webcam is 2.0MP, its about as good as your average webcam; its not HD its 480p I believe. The microphone works fine; I've used it on a P151HM for video games and Skype and I asked if it sounded fine and they all said I came in clear.

What's the difference between the AMD and Nvidia chips that are supposed to be coming out? Do both have switchable graphics? Do either one have an advantage over the other?

both will have switchable graphics. amd will probably perform slightly lower but will cost significantly less. we have to wait and see though

For gaming they will probably be very similar. If you do anything else that uses the GPU like HD video editing, CAD, or other 3D model rending programs the Nvidia card will be much better. It has CUDA cores which alot of those programs will take advantage of and use those for processing instead of the CPU. Those programs run much better off the GPU if they use CUDA.

The "switchable graphics" ability: Will it be on the GPU itself or on the processor? What exactly is this function called and how do you enable it?

I see Xotic is offering a discount to NBR members again. Would the current preorders with the NP9170 be eligible for the additional discount since we already have the $50 deferred?

I've been told the same thing. I might have to speak with someone about this. I have already placed my order and it is clearly noted that I am availing myself of both deferred and NBR discounts!

Yes we are also extending it to people who want to wait for Ivy Bridge. Consider it confirmed. This does only apply if you did place an order while the deferred shipping discount was active.

I made my preorder and talked to Roland today to informed that i would like to wait for the Ivy bridge. He said that the sager is not confirmed yet about the $50 deferred. BUt it can be stock up with the NBR discount. Paladin said that it already been confirmed. Now Hutsay is saying the deferred shipping cannot be stock up with the NBR discount. I just don't understand why. Because from what i know, the $50 discount comes from sager and is totally different from the NBR discount.

Everyone is saying differently. It would be nice to find out what is the real deal.

    To summarize:
Deferred shipping and NBR discount can not be combined. Roland was incorrect when he said you could and has now been smacked around thoroughly. They are different but not totally different as it is with Sager's authorization that we offer the NBR discount. Consider it a Sager discount available through Xotic PC just like the deferred shipping discount was available when ordering through us (along with other Sager resellers)

If you placed an order while the deferred shipping discount was active you can wait for Ivy Bridge and still get the discount. Sager had not confirmed this with us until about 10mins ago, right before I posted it was confirmed.

If you'd like you can contact Roland and he can fill you in.
I hope that clears it up :)

From what I saw before, the diference between those two using the same configurations was 100€ give or take (P150EM DIY ), the version with GTX 675M was 1249€ if I'm not mistaken.
I'm glad I waited and didn't bought the GTX 675M :) It's an Excellent card the GTX675M, but I'm hoping that the 7970M will be better :p

It seems that the Chinese are comparing performance of 7970M to 6990M, not saying a rebadge.
But I don't understand what's written, so if anyone does please translate.

    "7970M relatively 6990M
    Ran sub-35% increase
The actual game frame rate of 25% -30%"

    this was from google translator

Good answer cloud :p you posted before me with a good translation didn't saw that, Thanks bro

I'm now having a problem where my new order just got an order update and confirmation request, but they claim I don't qualify for the deferred shipping. I've sent off an email covering the questions and statements they made, but I'm at a loss as to why they are telling me I don't qualify.

I attempted to call the verifications office but was unable to reach my verifications representative.

    This is a little frustrating.

Well that further proves that 7970M is indeed better than 675M/6990M. Can`t imagine AMD taking a hefty premium for a GPU thats not better than the old Fermi 675M/580M. :)
What a rip off it would have been if 7970M = 675M

Who did you order from btw?

I am looking to install my own drives into the P150EM. I was wondering how easy it is to remove the backplate on the laptop and insert a drive in? How about inserting a drive into the optical bay as a secondary drive?

I've heard it's an easier process than other laptop manufacturers.

It's very easy, just remove the screws holding the backplate and it comes right off. Yes, you can have a hard drive in place of the optical bay, though you need the caddy, which is like a $15 option (no optical drive), I think.

You will have to get a new AC adapter, as the 120W won't be big enough to power it.

Will the P151EM be able to handle the 7970M ? And if yes, do we have an idea of when it will begin to be shipped out?

since tge 680m is kepler isnt it still possible it may only require a 120w ? and the 7970 should definitely work on the 151em. since the 670m does.
