Hellhog I don't know why you would want a 660m in the P150EM? Why not just get the P151EM or an even smaller notebook from a different brand. You could get a much thinner laptop with a 660m due to it generating less heat and consuming less power. The P150EM would be perfect for 680m or 7970m when they come out
-
-
Because it'd be easier to upgrade in the future to a higher power consuming GPU or CPU, without modding the heat dissipation.
-
no need, the P151EM has the exact same cooling system...
-
The P150EM may end up being my first Sager/Clevo unit.
So many little things to consider though...screen, warranty, GPU. How long to wait, etc. I'm thinking that I'll wait for IB but not for the new GPUs, since the 675M seems more than capable and I've always been an NVidia fan. It sounds like the 95% color gamut matte screen is better, but I can't decide how much better. It seems like if I'm spending this much on a laptop, I might as well go all out and not quibble over $50-$100 options, but they add up!
But I guess this is what everyone goes through.
-
Could anyone post a pictures of power supply block for P151EM/150EM/170EM? Wanted to see how big they are.
Thanks -
Ready for delivery in May is the latest rumor
There are several resellers that have listed GTX 660M in P150EM. Example
http://www.monsternotebook.com.tr/P150EM-GTX660M-MONSTER%C2%AE-Q61P150EM03.html -
Will it be possible to upgrade to a 680m from the 660m?
-
Does anyone have any feedback on Optimus 2?
I'm also puzzled as to why people's projections for battery life are so low... Other 15 inch laptops with the same processor are managing 7-8 hours. If I set the applications I'm using to use the iGPU, why shouldn't it manage 7-8 hours as well? I'm basing this on the semi-assumption that the discrete GPU consumes no power when not used (I saw several ppl confirm this on another forum). If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated! -
I wouldn't see why not. MXM3.0b is a beast.

So I just got my P150EM today, and it is really nice (bought it from LPC-Digital, it was shipped 2 days after the new model came out!).
The matte screen and keyboard are just great, the screen was so bright that I had to adjust the brightness.
Without gaming, my temps is around 40-50*C, never gets hot. I'm wondering if it is normal? Every 3 or 4 minutes, the fan "turns on" (?), gets a little bit loud, but barely audible from 2 feet away.
With Optimus, the battery lasts about 3 hours with installing software, using office and web-surfing.
My issue: I put my SSD in the primary drive, and HDD in the optical drive. The BIOS and my Intel SSD toolbox recognize the HDD, but I can't get access to it. It does not appear on My Computer or anywhere else. How do I fix it? -
daydreamer how much did that cost ? also three hours is ba, installing software takes a significant amount of battery. could you test it with brightness at 0 and wifi running plus internet use ?? i bet you could get 5 hours
-
Have you "Initialized" the disk from Disk Management in Windows?
-
It works! Thank you so much!!
It's about $1700 when I placed my order. Right now I am still recharging it, hopefully I'll be able to test the temps and battery life with gaming. But yeah, it will last much longer without installing software. I'll try to test it again, hopefully it will last 5 hours
-
$1700 isn't bad; is that with tax? I want the same but might opt for a 240GB SSD and no other drive. Eventually I might add another 240GB to the optical though after a year or so. I only use about 150GB with all of my programs. The rest can be room for save files, pictures etc. But movies and music I will store on my external and just access most of my music online w/ Spotify/Netflix.
the SSD only set up will generate a little less heat and probably save some battery life.
Also if I did end up really needing some more room I could get an mSata SSD also; 120 or 240gb, or a flash drive 64GB and just plug that in haha.
I'd probably just add a 240GB mSata once the prices drop to around $150-200. I'v never used more than 200GB in my life though. Even with 10 games installed + photoshop + photoshop saves + win 7 I end up in the 150-180GB . range. I dont like storing pictures and movies and what not on my computer anyways. Thats what the net is for haha. -
congratz daydreamer on your purchase. please post some with experiences with is. maybe, if you have time later on, some pics and benches would also be nice.. in the mean time enjoy your new toy
-
Has anyone's Xotic order shipped yet?
-
Mine was shipped last Friday and is expected to be delivered today.
-
Was it 95% gamut or stock screen?
-
His sig says 95% Matte.
-
A guy over at overclock.net got his 2 days ago if you want a little preview to hold you over.
Just got my Sager NP915 in the mail! -
Mine comes today. Gotta load up windows tonight.
-
Still waiting for IB/GCN/Kepler Clevo reviews, hopefully those come in before pre-order date because I'm just going to impulsively order it.
-
Uh oh, it looks like the OP in that thread is having problems with Skyrim and optimus. That's really disconcerting to hear, especially since Skyrim will be the first game I plan on playing once mine arrives.
Anyone else with a new unit able to check into this? -
And the OP also says that he only gets around 2 hours of battery with mild use. I thought Optimus should increase battery life to pull out at least 3-4 hours. Is this because the drivers haven't come out or are the components too power hungry?
-
If it still only gets 2 hours count me out. Thats horrendous. I'll wait for the Lenovo y580 w/ i7 3610, 8GB RAM, GTX 660m, and throw in a 240GB SSD.
The lenovo should get 4-5 hours at least. Heck maybe I'll just game a little less and get the W110ER the 11.6" with GT650m, maybe they'll make it with GTX 660m and i7 3610. That would be a gnarly 4 lb machine haha. -
That's strange. Today I retest it and I've got 4 hours with web-surfing and office. My p150em has no problems so far. My temps is around 50C idle, which is a little bit warm, but that would probably be fixed if I use IC Diamond/Arctic Silver.
-
Its still a SB CPU, why not wait for the Ivy Bridges release to see how much they increase battery life?
-
ivy will probably only add like 30 min. daydreamer is that with brightness on low like 0 to 25 percent ?
-
Yes it's about 25%.
-
I'm having a hard time waiting to order my P170EM.. If the 7970 doesn't come out pretty much same time as Ivy. It will have to be the 675 gtx.
-
wait a little longer and get the best
-
I'm with you, and as soon as IB is released the wait is over. You can wait for ever (chasing the dragon), there is ALWAYS something new on the horizion if you just wait a few more weeks, months, years. Technology is an evil mistress that's always tempting you with something new.
-
I couldn't agree with you more Wildride.
-
I ordered my P150EM with SB 2760QM a week ago, but I received a call from Mythlogic today about the opportunity to switch to IB if I wanted. No price increase, just an additional 2(ish) weeks wait for the IB release.
There's no way I'm waiting for the 680m to drop, but how could I refuse such an offer? It'll be a long wait, but I'll just have to live vicariously through everyone else that's getting their systems now. -
I just received the new P151-EM.
The BIOS version is 1:00:01 and the EC as well.
I want to upgrade.
How can I do?
CLEVO's site?
Thank you! -
amd would be very smart to release 7970 along side the ivy bridge . I'd my pants. I just wish they had a 320GB ssd for like 250. I'll get a 240GB and add a 500GB later on if I fill that.
-
I would enjoy it if they did as well. Mythlogic has kept using these smilies which has made me think that they're trying to lead us on, but it's so easy to have it just come out later on.
-
Are there any advantages to the gtx 680m vs. the 7970m?
I'm almost considering waiting for the 680 but if there is hardly a difference then I'll probably just stick with 7970. -
We no next to nothing about either of them. Everything you see if guesses and false leaks.
-
I have a sneaking suspicion that the 7970m will come out around the same time as the 660m, which is supposedly around the same time as Ivy. Here's hoping we see it in a week or so.
-
Im so ready to spend this money for my first sager....IB come out already and 660m and or 7970 =D
-
The OP eventually got Skyrim to work. I also like the backlit keys on the Sager NP9150. However, for the life of me, I cannot understand why Clevo decided to place the windows () key on the opposite side. Have they ever heard of muscle memory? I mean, I recently got used to the shortened right shift key on newer lappys. What happened to the fuller-sized keyboards of yesterday? Looks like I'll gunning for the y580 in June
-
C'mon, we're all computer nerds here, including the Clevo engineers. There's no such thing as muscle memory for us...
-
on the contrary, there is
but us being computer nerds, we will adapt fast
-
Well i find this weird too i use the windows key every 3 minutes (windows + D). Is there a way to map de the fn key with the windows key? I think that would solve the problem. And why did they add the |\ key next to the space bar?
-
nice I just learned a new shortcut
. does it by anychance work ingame?
-
I realized just now that I don't EVER use the right shift key on any keyboard lol. So i guess that won't cause any trouble for me.
-
I literally never use the start button or right shift key. So I'm kind of excited ha
-
There's lots of good windows key shortcuts. I use Windows+L like 20 times a day. It keeps people from messing with your stuff (like putting some crazy wallpaper up on your computer or setting meatspin as your homepage
) and it's much quicker than hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del and then enter.
