I think absolutely people shopping Clevo are looking at AW too.
IMO the price difference is not that significant if one has something you
want and the other doesn't.

so what will be the graphics options for the P151EM when Ivy is released?
any kepler in the mix? -
P151EM1 is GTX660 and GTX670M
-
-
-
I really hate the AW flash, and the design too.
-
I also agree, but we can't turn this into one of those threads
Looks aside, they've unfortunately got the advantage in features ATM. -
But, this is a P150EM thread, there's no 15" Alienware, so they automatically lose that debate, NEXT!
-
All of AMD's desktop 7000 cards, except the 7990, have been released and we still know almost nothing about the 7970M
I'm also debating between Clevo and Alienware, the M17x in particular. The HDMI-in would be very useful for me. Their keyboard is top notch and the touchpad is much better. Manual graphics switching is also great. Biggest thing I have against it is a lack of a matte screen and, of course, the price. -
Clevo removed the article about CeBIT.
CLEVO
This past few weeks have been terrible for me as a new customer.
The laptop went from a default 560m to a default 6990m and now went back to a 560m without upgrade options. Some models disappeared and then they are for sale again.
This is my first time buying a Sager and it's feels like a hit and miss at this point. -

Not a Sager issue but a industry issue. Who is selling anything new
or even disclosing what it will actually be? -
Answer: No one.
We are in a zone of limbo, where everything is "soon", but not soon enough. -
I understand the NDAs and such, but it seems odd to me that Sager would do something like this, where they basically don't sell anything for a month or two. Have they done this in the past, between model changes?
-
Seems like Nvidia may be hurting lately too much Apple drops Nvidia Kepler from large numbers of laptops | SemiAccurate Was wondering if they would go in Sager
-
Oh but apple never had high-end nvidia parts soit's not likely like we'll be getting more 680m's because of this
-
True that.. Wonder if new AMD stuff is giving apple a good reason to switch? Perhaps maybe we'll hear some more out of the AMD corner soon
-
-
According to a reseller I talked to, Clevo couldn't present their stuff at Cebit because of something with the Intel NDA. They did, however, set up shop in a near by hotel and had their line up on display there. It wasnt available to the public, only resellers/vendors/others under NDA..
And I don't believe Clevo is taking pre orders, only some resellers are choosing to do that. And you're not really pre-ordering, it's more of getting your spot in line since you don't pay anything until they're ready to process your order. -
Keplar is real. AnandTech - Acer Aspire TimelineU M3: Life on the Kepler Verge 640m beats a 555m, pretty good.
-
lol i think we knew Kepler is real...
And what's impressive is not that the 640m beats the 555m, but that a thin form factor notebook GPU beat a standard form factor notebook gpu.
Again, comparison between both generations by Name alone is silly, for all we know 640m could be consuming 10(33%) more watts than the 540m, the Ultra M3 is pretty large for a ultrabook, which could mean better cooling and more power. -
With Nvidia rebranding the 670/675m, nothing was really deemed as 'real' for the mobile space.

So, after reading most of this thread, i'm slightly more confused than I was starting out. I'm less worried, as a frequent traveler, about the GPU and more worried about the potential weight increase in the EM vs the HM. If it's going to be substantial i'm going to try and snag one of the last HM's I think...
Has there been any confirmation on changes to the weight? I'm guess there will be if the keyboard is backlit, but I want to try and confirm. -
I believe it's going to be 3.2kg, I could be wrong but I believe that's the weight, the manual is floating around in this thread somewhere.
-
Hey guys, the Kepler based GTX 660M has been outed:
This will probably be the default GPU in the new machines, once the NDAs are lifted. -
Why are all these Keplers showing 384 sp's.
-
Isn't the 128-bit memory interface weaker than the normal 560M's 192-bit? That's equal to the gimped 560M's that Best Buy sells for Asus.
-
So, 660m = keplar, 670/675 = fermi? So 660m will beat out a 670m?
-
-
it'll sit right where it's name suggests, between the 650m and 670m.
-
Just to clarify, is Ivy Bridge delayed or not? Will we see it in a couple of weeks or later in the year as some reports suggested?
-
The exact delay time itself is NDA-ed. In my opinion it may only be lifted after the stock of the Sandy Bridge cpu's/laptops will drop under a certain treshold whichever that may be.
There is also a great industry upwards pressure, possibly illegal, on the 8GB DDR2 ram kits prices for the older laptops, possibly to force their owners to buy the current soon to be outdated laptops. -
Interesting. I'm guessing we don't know when the NDA ends?
-
No kidding. The 8gb kit for my 3 year old laptop is $100 on amazon. I paid $55 through a member here on NBR, but still. I sold 12gb of 1333mhz for $45 a few months ago here, and it took forever to get that much lol
-
I am talking about 8GB (2x4GB) DDR2 kits, which are 130-140$ for the no name kits right now on Amazon and eBay after much better prices approx. 3 months ago. You will be laughing even more if you are in Europe or when you compare DDR2 prices with the DDR3 prices.
BTW, 12GB at 1333MHz is DDR3 not DDR2. -
I know, I was commenting on how cheap the DDR3 is. It was from another laptop I had previously owned. My current 1545 uses DDR2 (pc6400 2x4gb) and it's going for $140 for no-name on Amazon. I was lucky enough to score 8gb for $55 here on NBR..

Those SSD scores can't be right. It's getting bad performance, and the AS score is way lower than my M4 in SATA-II

Edit: Scratch that, didn't see that it was mSATA...
Great addition to this machine -

After reading Nvidia 600 series thread I am torn about buying the upcoming refresh of Clevo P151EM. From what I've gathered, Ivy Bridge won't make its debut at least until the end of next month if at all. I would love too have the GT 660M in the P151EM for just the lower TDP, but according to Prema the current PxxEM BIOS doesn't support GT 660M. Even if does it may not be available long after the GTX 670M is released.
The GTX 670M to me is not worth it since it's just a rebadge of GTX 570M that will probably perform slightly better than GT 660M and will have much higher TDP. From what is known between the GTX 670M and GT 660M which do you think will be a better choice over all? -
675M or wait for the true successor, 680M.
