650m benches out
http://www.ocnb.com.cn/showtopic-11067.aspx
note this is on w150er so its gddr5, bandwidth~=460m
-
So the GDDR3 version is 7500 points? -
THX@DXG!
And that is only 1GB version... -
Its like the 555m 1.5gb vs the 3gb version..
I think its 1gb DDR5 because its cheaper mass produce then 2gb
So isnt it aboutthe same points as the 560m then? -
How much difference does the memory amount make, though? Last I checked, the 3GB version of the GTX 560m ASUS uses in their G74 doesn't have much of an advantage, if any, over the 1.5GB versions everyone else uses. It's only point seems to be bragging rights?.. Whups, ninja'd
-
You can blatantly use mods to fill up the ram to justify the purchase.
-
^^^^Your definition of justification is strange
EDIT: FYI, to make that face you need to use a lower case p, in case that's what you were trying to do. -
so a GT 650m's(GDDR5) performance would be very close to a GTX 560m then?
or would the 2GB version be any stronger/more equal?
I wish the new laptops ivy+Kepler notebooks would release faster, waiting for April feels like an eternity :/ -
Thanks DGDXGDG. You deliver like always
To me it looks like GT 650M = 560M but does a little better with DX11 games, hence why it scores better in 3DMark11 and why Kepler have been known to do better in those games compared to Fermi -
It's not cool when a Nintendo 64 emulator drops below 60FPS on your system...
-
Did anyone else have a "WHAT THE..." moment when they realised this thing may be able to outperform/rival a G74 in power? lol
-
^^^^Not really... The only thing special about the G74 is that the ASUS website says it houses the power of a tricked-out desktop...
*realizes what thread this is*
wait... WHAT THE... -
Yup crazy. A 11 inch with almost the same performance as a 17" big bulky laptop. Crazy indeed
-
-
-
does anyone know whats the performance drop going from GDDR5 to GDDR3 ram, im planning on trading in my m14x and anything else i have to to get this beast.
This was done with a different laptop right? because of the i5 dual core, im expecting a ULV in the W110ER. -
-
I dont really get the 3dmark vantage and 3dmark 11 scores (why are there 2 different 3dmark11 scores? and why is the 3dmark vantage score so extremely high, 30000 gpu score?)
someone care to explain?
But seems to be pretty damn strong!
I do like the looks, but when its closed it looks kinda fat xD -
-
Sad that I can`t find any 3DMark06 benchies done with a weak processor. I can only find Quad cores with GTX 560M -
If this thing doesn't have heat problems and has semi-decent quality, It will be on my short list without a doubt.
-
-
-
Might aswell post it here too
Finished with my comparison!
The 1GB GDDR5 128bit GT 650M is pretty much a 1.5GB GDDR5 192bit GTX 560M. If not better.
Food for thought:
Memory Bandwith:
GTX 570M/670M 192-bit: 72.0 GB/s (GDDR5)
GTX 660M 128-bit: 64GB/s (GDDR5)
GTX 650M 128-bit: Up to 64.0 (GDDR5 have that)
GTX 560M 192-bit: 60GB/s (GDDR5)
1.5GB GDDR5 192bit GTX 560M in 1080p with Heaven Benchmark 2.5
1GB GDDR5 128bit GT 650M in 1080p with Heaven Benchmark 2.5 with the exact same settings
1.5GB GDDR5 192bit GTX 560M in 3DMark11
1.5GB GDDR5 192bit GTX 560M in 3DMark Vantage (notice the GPU score)
1GB GDDR5 128bit GT 650M in 3DMark11 and 3DMark Vantage

I can't wait to see the pricing on this little guy. -
Obviously having the power of a fullpowered cpu and a 560m in an 11.6 notebook throws up the question about sufficient cooling and throttling.. -
Well, unless they are asking something north of $2K US for it. I'll be your lab mouse as I've put off purchasing a y470p or W520 to wait for this. I wish I could find something <13" with 900p and this kind of power from someone I'm confident of the build quality but I haven't seen it in any of the rumors so 768p will have to do.
I'll be calling around weekly to see if its out at the resellers or till one of them is willing to say when they'll be able to sell it to get me to stop calling every week. -
depending on price this will be in my computer collection soon enough.
-
thats why there are problems such as throttling and overheating
Because all the average customer cares about is better perfomance and low price .. Too bad they dont care about quality displays, but buy every crappy 768p display out there, because the power of the notebook is sufficient for them ..
In the end its just about being better and cheaper and not about a solid and functioning product ^^ -
I will jump on this one..
This or a decked out P170EM/P150EM. -
All of these and more are part of this drive you talk about. Its not going to reverse unless the global economy does also. And even then it will only change because manufactures will feel more comfortable trying to capture niche users such as you and I who can pay for better quality and performance. -
Oh and looks like the CPU is socketted, think I can try out a Extreme edition CPU?
-
Nothing to stop you from trying.. The issue will be whether or not the BIOS will support it.
Extreme editions (for both SB and IB) aren't listed on its March spec sheet -
Your only concern should be to feed it enough power and keep it cool and alive...
Don't worry about the BIOS part...he he -
I vote Ryan definitely forks over for a 3920xm -
Any idea of availability?
-
Most of the resellers are saying April is gonna be a "great" month. If they aren't available next month, then hopefully they at least be announced and we'll know an actual date.
-
-
That's because the NDA's are supposed to end April 5th.. Well most of them anyways...
-
In Australia our supplier HORIZE ETA is firm for April 30th. I would imagine that the USA would be pretty similar.
-
-
hopefully this thing doesnt break 1200
-
What is the w150ER? a 15 inch version of the w110ER we've been talking about?

Man I really hope the reseller I got my P151hm clevo from is going to let me return it. I have it in perfect condition and they have a 30 day return policy; so I can wipe the drive and clean it up and return it to them for my money.
Then I'll have $1,300 to spend on the new 151em or whatever it is this time.
My current specs are great and plenty powerful but I get less than 2 hours of battery life if I run wifi and turn down brightness and just take notes and go on facebook in class ha.
I have i7 2670, 8GB DDR3 1333mhz, 750GB Hybrid Momentus Hard Drive/SSD, GTX 560m 1.5GB.
I'd really love a GTX 670m, Ivy bridge equivalent of my processor [Ghz wise] and the same HD and RAM would be fine they work great.
I just really want this 360minute battery life that is being flaunted. The Kepler and Ivy Bridge + Optimus can have a huge effect.
Going to try and return it tomorrow they said that I could if its perfect I'm hoping there definition of perfect doesn't include never being used. There are no scratches or defects though at all.
Are the prices on these kepler/IB set ups supposed to be higher or about the same as before? I won't mind throwing in an extra $200 if I have to as I've been working allot lately hah. -
I'm sure it's easier to see on the 151, but when I returned my 150 last year my reseller said it had micro-scratches in the rubbery material. I certainly couldn't see them though. They were super nice about it though I know others have been charged like a "reconditioning" for returning a laptop that wasn't up to the resellers standards.
Only thing you can do is clean it up, pack it well and hope their definition of perfect condition is the same as yoursjust to be safe, I'd document the condition of the laptop before you mail it (with pictures of course). Just so if something happens during shipping or whatever you can show it wasn't your fault.
