The W870 (according to Kommanche). Anything else? X8100, W860?

17' AND 18' systems yes. I don't think you'll ever see the 480m GDDR5 in a 15' notebook. So no W860CU I would think. -
Multicom, Norway, will be delivering the X8100, the D900 and the W880 with GTX 480M, in june.

Not many of you understand norwegian, I suppose - but I swear that is what it says here in this article from PCWorld Norway. -
Any news on it be available to current W870CU owners?
-
Maybe not ... It looks like the W880 will be the W870 replacement, if you want the GTX 480M .... but don't quote me on that.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
What usually happens when something like this is released they are just available with new notebook purchases and not a stand alone upgrade part for current owners. It will probably be July before we can sell the upgrade kit for this. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
That is accurate.
We should see the W880 with the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 480M 256bit 2GB GDDR5 sometime in July.
It is very unlikely that there will ever be an upgrade available for the W870. -
This helps a little:
Google Translate
edit: Still not clear from translation if SLI 480M will be offered. -
mySN offers the GTX 480M as an option for their W870CU. It is just freakin' expensive. If it works in the W870CU it should even work in the W860CU, with a new PSU that is. I would love to try it out but this card is just too expensive at the moment. However, it could mean that they are just replacing the W870CU with the W880CU when the GTX 480M arrives without changing their name for that laptop.
-
Nope, it doesn't say - but I would at the very least expect the X8100 to get SLI.
I will be calling Multicom tomorrow, for more info.
Edit: Multicom does not offer GTX 480M SLI in the X8100. Only as single card. For now, at least.
Maybe the rumoured X7100/X7200 will. -
mysn pricing looks high - 700 (£600) from 285 to 480, Kobalt want £410!
-
you know where to get it from then, lol.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
In Europe or the UK...Kobalt for the win!
Not only great pricing, but personalized support that the others just don't seem willing to give
-
Andrew & Neil will appreciate that paladin44
oh im sooo very tempted m860tu > G875
vacation to florida/vegas or a new computer,hmmm. -
So, what's the 5870 -> 285M -> 480M difference going to be in the US? Any concrete figures yet?
-
Blackpool then. Or Croydon. Then you can have both. -
LMAO
i dont think so.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
The 480M is $550.00 more than the 285M -
Wow what a bargain lol ....
-
$550?
What. -
And the 285 is $75.00 more then the 5870, so like $625.00 more then ATI's offering .... It better be super duper fast for that much scratch ....
-
It's because thanks to the economic crisis the Euro has lost much value... otherwise it would be cheaper... but Euro will become more stable soon and then the Euro prices will drop a bit.
-
Ha, more than 2x the price and almost 2x the TDP of the 5870 for 10-20% gain. Whoa Nvidia, you didn't even need enemies to beat you up, hehe. Big time loser!
-
I guess it's shame on me, for hoping Nvidia had learned something about competitive pricing.
Like I can ignore that a desktop GTX 480 costs $500. It doesn't cost much to downclock a $279 GTX 465. -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Let's just imagine how much the SLI for this is...
-
Yeah the pricing is just off the charts.... $1250.00 for SLI :O....
I also confirmed the pricing from another reseller at $550.00 over the 285m and we were both just laughing ....
No matter how much better performance that is just redonkulous ...
I know there will be a few who will be shelling out that kind of cash i just wont be one of them
...
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
^--^
BUT...don't you want to WIN??
-
I would already be winning buy having all that extra $$ in my pocket
...
-
Wow that's pretty crazy but not surprising given the terrible yields. GG nVidia, you failed before even competing. -
I call it a flawless victory by AMD
1/2 the heat, 1/2 the cost, better OC'ing capabilities, 90% performance. Do the math.
-
LOL! Stick a fork in nVidia THEY are DONE!
-
While we're all in the mood for disclosure, what's the US price for the base W880CU, assuming it comes stock with the 480M?
-
The only model announced today with the 480m was the NP9280... I was also trying to find out the price on the W880CU but seeing the cards are a small fortune well yeah......
Ill stick with my desktop for the hardcore stuff and maybe grab a cheaper gaming notebook again .... -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
No disclosures but think about it....add $550 to what a W870CU costs and you should be close.
-
Wow, how naive! What are you basing your assumptions on?
-
Hmm, it might not be so bad with the barebone route. Just adding $550 to the base, it's still less than $2300, fully specced with an ES 920XM.
-
Adding $625.00 to the base since the base machine has the 5870....
-
Oops, k, then it's... $2339.
A factory W870 w/ 920XM + 5870 is $2274.
I believe I just found a way to justify it. For myself, of course. -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
I would say getting a barebones of this wouldn't be so bad if you have some parts to put into it. -
940XM QS already out for some time, get that one.
-
Not everyone has the inside sources you do, kaltmond.
You always know way more than anyone else, and you know it way before anyone else, and you never reveal how you know. -
I saw a 940XM QS on Ebay for right around $800.00
..
i7 820 is plenty though for a single card and a nice happy medium....
The 920 i had in my W870 was nice and all but since they are crippled by the lack of no bios overclocking its just a waste of $$ IMHO>.. -
Do we have confirmation on the W88's PSU wattage? I'm going to need at least 200W.
Yeah, I know.
It's just that I'd feel weird going from my 2.4Ghz Q9200 -> less than 2Ghz CPU, even though I know better.
Plus the ES route makes it look like such a good deal, if you go 920XM. The $495 you save from the CPU pretty much cancels out the 480M's $550 premium. -
Yeah i had the 920 ES in mine and it was perfect and ran cool enough considering what it was....
I would certainly get the 920 ES along with the 480 vs a OEM 920...
Unless your super worried about reselling the notebook here on NBR then buying the ES will be of no issue which i doubt you are based on your Sig
...
I sold my machine and bought a set of 5870s for my desktop for about half of what they go for new and my i7 920 is at 4.0ghz so i have plenty of gaming power but i still would like a gaming notebook from time to time as usual lol...
If i didnt mind the crazy noise of the M17x i would be all over that with the Xfire 5870s .... Amazing screen, build quality , At home warranty ... Cant be beat in those regards... -
Better than beating them is being able to afford a bigger 2nd place trophy.

CLEVO - Products -
Back lid of the X7200 looks very cool and stylish. But lol, there's people who's going to be disappointed at the plastic body and non-backlit keyboard. I guess Clevo really sticks to their principle.
-
That X7200 is very sexy....
Wish Clevo would throw on a backlit keyboard though....
I really enjoyed my 8760 quite abit though and other then the lack of backlit keys and crappy sound it was an amazing machine overall... -
