P6xxSx series refresh won't be ready until the Skylake HQ processors are out.
I believe that those are rumoured for September/October.

Got to have something interesting to do a refresh after all.
-
I hope it arrives before early September, so I can get my laptop before going to college.

I want to see a LGA2011-3 (or whatever the server socket for skylake is) in the 17" batman chassis with dual GPU capabilities. I want the most expensive laptop known to humankind -- 36 core xeon with quadros in sli. If its DDR4 compatible it needs 128GB of RAM.
Would asking for two CPU sockets be to much?

i think Prema said in some-thread that 2011-3 is not going to happen in a laptop chassis.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The batman 17" chassis is too small to cope with that anyway.
-
Right now, I just want more panel options for G-Sync. It's pretty limited at the moment. A 4k 17" display wouldn't hurt too.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Sager can't offer a 4k 17.3" panel because they are not made.
-
Sometimes I wonder why manufacturers made 4k on 15.6" displays, but not on 17.3". I just don't understand. Is there a huge demand for 4k on 15.6" displays instead of 4k on 17.3" displays?
Sent from my potato running on Android 5.0.1 -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Vastly more 15.6" models are sold than 17.3" on the market as a whole.
-
Quite a shame, one of the few things on my list would be more panel options for 17" laptops. It seems that even the better TN panels or IPS options at 1080p are even harder to come by in 17" varieties.

The P570wm coped just fine
You do need the extra space though for a BEEFY heatsink.

WHY? Don't people wan't those 2 extra inches? People need to man up.

But I don't think it will be too long now for the panels.

Less than a week away from the big windows X launch. I better see some new skylake mobos and laptops along with it. I have waited much too long and now its coming close. Nvidia better launch a refresh too maxwell is almost a year old already and the mobile versions need more 4k power and power for demanding games like witcher 3/batman.
Also screen discussions cant be stopped I guess, the 17 inch is a better screen for 4k and the 15 in is better for 1080p with higher refresh rates. 17 inch books dont sell as well but it makes more sense to have 4k options for that screen. I'm going to go with a smaller 15 if I do simply because I use external displays and I rather the book to be as light and small as possible. 15 and 17 is not too different so smaller wins most of the time.Last edited: Jul 23, 2015 -

Still a couple of months away from the year yet for the 980m.

Can't wait for skylake to be released. I am just making a gamble for the waiting game... need a laptop within 2 months, don't want to settle with Haswell.

Why no more 90%/95% NTSC now?

The panels are no longer made, high gamut eDP IPS displays are just starting to hit but are expensive at the moment.
-
ok will wait until they come out. i don't think i can go back to narrow color gamut display.
-
Meaker, you've mentioned that higher res displays aren't too far off. I know this is simply conjecture: do you think higher res or IPS display will make it for 17" skylake laptops (September) or probably not until the next big change? I can appreciate that there's no way to know for sure, so I would never hold you to it.
I'm mostly just curious if it's likely or not-likely.

Free Sync Screens, and HBM Graphics, preferably something in the lines of R9 Nano, allthough its going to take at least 2 years before well see hmb gpus in laptops

IPS Screens from 1080p for 13 15 inch to 4k to 17 and 18 inch all with free sync/g sync -

Hope desktop skylake comes in laptops by August/September. Need to get a new laptop by October 2nd. Going to a stock trading conference in Vegas and everyone is going to have a MacBook Pro or Sony laptop. I'd like to go with a 4k screen skylake desktop CPU and maxwell refresh gpu with a pcie SSD to show off and trade faster lol
-
Uh I thought Sony no longer makes laptops
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The current model does that

I dont think the current model can oc like this just by air cooling

i'd be happy with 4.6ghz aircooled in a laptop with skylake lol

I'm hoping clevo begins production of the batman 2.0 asap when the new skylake boards begins rolling in. One of my concerns is the time clevo will begin producing the batman 2.0 and other possible notebooks after the new lga 1151 sockets are finally released in normal desktop form. Also I'm interested to see what cpu options will be available when launched and what the local vendors will give for optional cpu choices. Also I'm a bit tighter on my budget than others and price will be the final role on whether I get a skylake notebook or a skylake desktop. I prefer a notebook so I hope clevo/sager will offer lower spec non gsync versions of the laptop with normal 1080p screens (less expensive).
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If you expect that to be the average on a desktop let alone a notebook then I think you are setting yourself up for dissapointment.

A quote would have been nice so we can know who your addressing pal. Anyway, as far as the hardware goes chances are you may be right but we still got to wait and see. I'm so glad I waited because even if the first skylake chips arent so great the next upgrades and improvements on the same socket should improve eventually after a year or two. I noticed on one or more occasion you being a bit gloomy over the new hardware and thats fine your entitled to express what you think but at the same time some of us are really waiting a while here and are looking forward to some changes. -

I am sorry you feel I am being down, but I am telling you how it will be, if you want to get excited over that then go ahead, but building something up to be more than it will be will lead to a backlash.
There are some nice improvements to storage options and USB bundled in and it will be an incremental improvement, that's fine.
Wont stop me from calling out bad info when I see it

Just so you know I'm in no way trying to give you a hard time as its obvious your knowledge and reputation is among the top respected people here. I know we haven't known each other that long but I was hoping you would have known I'm not the type to get that excited over stuff. I'm actually happy you can call out bad info and by all means continue to do so if necessary I totally dig that actually since I'm no pushover myself. This is a big time for vendors and consumers and I'm really hoping it goes well so I'm trying extra hard to be "positive" with the new tech on the way. Only time will tell how it all turns out. -

I've always been more excited at the GPU generations ever since the first core i7 launch.
-
Haswell was pretty exciting for Thin and Lights.
And that's about all that was interesting. Hoping these Skylake rumors are true. -
Haswell was pretty nice for thin and lights. Likely partially responsible for my renewed interest in laptops in general.
I think I've seen a similar CPUz "validation" for the last 3 generations of Intel processors, so I tend to take them with a grain of salt. All other leaks tend to point towards the same as the last few generations: 5-10% improvement. There's definitely a pattern of behavior, so that's where I'll align my expectations until we get a bit closer. Hopefully we'll all be pleasantly surprised though.
I agree that GPU generations seem to bring more excitement. It's interesting that Nvidia has been so quiet on this front lately. -
Like cpus there is monopoly building up in the gpu space as well with AMD unable to compete in either fronts. so expect nvidia to play Intel with incremental changes game till AMD can compete.

Helloooo Dreamcolor 2:
Took 'em years, but no matter; excellent news. Crazy gamut, normal 4-lane eDP, only 40-pins and no icky dual connectors as with the DCs. This will fit many current Clevos; happy upgrade times
!
Two things; real measurements (black value, mainly) and cost (probably atrocious, at first). Also a matte, but what-the-hey, can always strip the antiglare film again if no glossy is forthcoming. -
You can actually contact suppliers through panelook , you can try and send an email, see what happens.
Maybe you get a price.
-
Yes, for 500 pieces
.
Need a new system first, anyway; it'll run on my W230SS, but that might look a bit iffy. It'll be perfect for the W870CU's replacement, though. Not sure yet ... either a P370SM-A or whatever succeeds the P570WM. Also want to see a service manual of a Clevo SLI with G-Sync first. -

This is good news for the people looking for screen options especially for 17in types but I was hoping for articles related to new clevo laptops with skylake, new nvidia gpu's revelaled, tb ports, better battery life, and overall laptop nextgen news or something. Anyway windows x will be here soon and hopefully with that more news on all the things I just mentioned. -
No, because there's none ... as of yet.
Aorus has one in the pipeline, though, ergo; so has Clevo. Of course, could settle for an Aorus 'service' manual too, if these held more information than their app's functionality or the speed dial for their RMA service. -

You may as well wait until a machine releases with it, I doubt you will get the panel yourself before then anyway.
