Hey all, Question for you guys, i have a 1060 (black pcb) in my clevo P750DM-G with bios version 86.06.2A.00.0B, which has GOP version 0x30003. Will i be able to update to GTX_1060_86.06.18.00.0A_N17E-G1 vbios or would i need a specific vbios to allow the bios upgrade?

I've seen a few people have problems with this mod and I'd like for it to go smooth when I do it soon. I assume most of the issues were from lack of following instructions, but perhaps there are things to consider outside of the instructions.

One thing I noticed was a RAM incompatibility. I currently have Hyperx 2x16GB 2400mhz. I don't remember who it was with the RAM issue, but I remember that switching to 1x16gb crucial RAM rather than 2x8gb hyperx solved it. Has anyone else had this issue with Hyperx or RAM stick size/quantity?

Are there any other incompatibilities or similar things to look for that I missed?

I am running a P750DM-G with GTX1060 and recently purchased a 9700K to run in it. My GOP version is 0x30004, so I will have to update that. Has anyone else with this setup ran into issues?

Other than that, I am curious how this BIOS compares with the Prema modded BIOS.

I realize I asked alot of questions. Any input on any of this will be appreciated. Preferably from those with the same setup.

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC mentioned this to me about incompabilities in ram. Not something new to me.

Do you know if I will have a problem with the 2x16gb 2400mhz hyperx? I'm just trying to minimize downtime since I'm going to be doing this on my main work laptop. It looks like Vengeance is working fine for you, so I will probably pick up a couple sticks to be on the safe side.

I'm using 4x8gb of hyperx with no issues. You should be good to go. Backup the bios that you have now. If you run into issues, flash it back.

2400mhz is a rather low clock so I'd suspect a bad stick over incompatibility.

That's interesting about the lower clock rate effecting it. I will have to do some research on that. The set I'm using is 2400mhz at cl14. The other set I was looking at was 3000mhz at cl16. I want to minimize downtime. Would it be wise to get a faster set of RAM?

    Thank you

we do still need 7th/6th gen cpu to update the bios itself before switching to coffee lake right?

No! There are SPi programmers with clips that you can use to flash the BIOS chip directly in the motherboard like this one for example:

    https://www.banggood.com/pt/TL866A-...=PT&currency=EUR&createTmp=1&cur_warehouse=CN

see that black clip in the photo, in the top left?

You can put that in the BIOS chip and flash it directly in the motherboard, no dessolder is needed

And yes it would need another pc to flash the BIOS since the spi programmer needs to be connected to a working PC

@dsanke Clevo released the 1.07.28 BIOS for P7xxTM1-G. See if it is worth the mod?

Anyone with black pcb zotac 1060/1070 in P751DM model?

I flashed both 1070 vbios-es from this thread in my 1070 zotac, but P751DM goes into EC VGA temp panic always. Original BIOS same EC panic.
    BIOS version 1.05.11, dsanke mod
    EC version 1.05.04

    Update:
P751DM goes into EC panic because black PCB is not directly compatible with clevo, VGA card need to be hardware modded to work, I believe this is what needs to be done.

Hi! I'm new here and I can't write you directly (in PM) so excuse my writing here) At first I want to say thank you very much for your work! Recently I've bought Clevo P870DM laptot and updated the BIOS with your firmware to install new I3-9100F CPU. So it works and quite stable under benchmarks and some heavy games! But I have some issues now and I've googled everywhere but find no solutions. First issue is strange video card behavior before OS is loaded. I'm using win7Prox64 and my GPU is 980M original by Clevo. I have black screen instead of menu where I can choose Safe Mode, Load Last Working Config, etc. The menu is working fine but I cant see it and have to use like if I'm blind) The next most disappointing problem is some strange artifacts after using hibernation mode. I put my laptop to hibernation, then wake him and all fine at this moment. But after restarting laptop may just turn off or make on BEEP then windows loads. Another strange thing is some shortly seen graphic artifact during OS preboot like if the GPU is broken, but its new and works fine then. Please tell me what should I do now, make some tweaks in BIOS, or flash stock one and migrate to older CPUs? My OS is installed on MBR disk, SecureBoot is off. I've tried with vary versions of drivers and even without some of it installed but this was not a problem. Excuse my english, I'm from Russia)) And thanks to you!

I confirm the bug you've reported. And I have no fix for that now.So if you can't stand that, you'd better switch to Skylake CPU and official BIOS.

Thanks for instant reply! So no BIOS setting can fix this problem? And if I decide to stay all as it is and will never put my system to hibernation mode all will be ok? How do you think?)

In my opinion , the EC firmware and hardware design are different from TM and DM series , so my modified BIOS is based on TM , it will have these bug.
There is no BIOS setting to fix that. And if you do not use hibernation, you will have less probability to run into this problem.

Ok thanks again) I've flashed your BIOS with programmer, because the screen stays black after normal flashing. If I decide to roll back to stock firmware is there any way to flash under windows? The last BIOS lies here https://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P870DMG/. And when I was flashing it it was written on screen "making backup" so is there my old BIOS on flashdrive from which I ran flasher utility? If it is what is the name of the file?)

Anyone with P750DM on the dsanke BIOS mod? What audio and touchpad drivers do you use?

I could not make any audio driver work properly, the jaks detect headphones, but these work in parallel with speakers, also main headphones does not output any sound.
Tried drivers from here: https://premamod.wordpress.com/2017/08/15/j95-realtek/, but no results.

Also, touchpad drivers do not work, only default one.

Supposing the backup binary file of the BIOS chip was lost, is there a repository where the default BIOS file can be downloaded?
Or is the BIOS chip file specific to manufacturers / resellers?

Thanks Moral Hazard. I ended up finding and flashing the "Backup.bin" I created earlier according to the guide. Hat tip to the OP.
Also, current motherboards that do not support 2nd gen CPUs is now a (ridiculous and naive) pet peeve of mine.

Note to self, when flashing the BIOS chip, it is a good idea to erase the chip's contents before writing to the chip.
Now that it is back up and running, I need to reapply thermal paste to the CPU/GPU and then modify the fstab.
The laptop is getting hot and getting bothered with the filesystem that it wants to believe still exists.

I should be aware next time to keep track of the location of the screws per screw hole, so as to avoid over-tightening one area or loosening another too much.

Hi could you please restore the images to the first post, I am trying to unlock the BIOS on a Santech G49, based on Clevo P775DM3-G, which has the BIOS locked and as a spi programmer I purchased this:
    https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07G4DL8N8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B0713V5GGL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I do it to upgrade the CPU with 8700k or 8086k, now mounts i7 6700k gtx 1080 display 17 4k- nvme slot: 2 sata III slot: 2.
Someone could kindly do a video tutorial or restore the pictures and explain to me what to do because it's all new for me I'm a beginner, and the pictures are no longer available.
As soon as possible I will put photos of the Santech G49.
Or if possible make a video tutorial.
    PS: thank you all.

is this Vbios (GTX_1080_with_G-Sync_86.04.2A.00.2B_N17E-G3_G) correct for my clevo P775DM3-g G-sync?
if I understand correctly the files necessary for me are: Vbios: (GTX_1080_with_G-Sync_86.04.2A.00.2B_N17E-G3_G) and (P7xxDM_10.bin) however this bios or confuses me because it is not marked in the txt file: P7xxDMx.bin.
I'm trying to understand why my english is really bad .... :(

    Hello,
Does SPI programmer need bios chip to be desoldered and resoldered on clevo p775dm3 ? What is the risk I end up with a fried bios chip? Also I have some general questions on Z170 boards and 9th gen cpu power requirements, other compatibility issues. could you PM me?

To flash the bios chip, I had to unscrew many screws and lift the motherboard up enough to get access to it. I didn't remove the chip. I just clamped the SPI programmer onto the BIOS chip and flashed it with the backup that I made from the instructions (thanks for that OP!).

Usually alligator chips will do the work. Ch341a black edition or green edition with asprogrammer or similar will be enough. Make sure the chip is detected as Winbond 128Mbit or similar. The full dump size should be 16.8MB including MEI ROM.
