Lol i don't regret the fact that i canceled the order and got the 5793. This thing is amazing. And it is not as loud as i imagined it would be, and it isnt to big and heavy.
So hard getting used to the laptop keyboard though -
Speaking of keyboard, do any of you guys use a regular keyboard attached to your laptop? If so, do any of you have a recommendation for a keyboard that can fit in a laptop bag, but is still nice to have?
-
An Apple usb keyboard. They are about as compact as can get.
I have an older model, but the new ones are supposed to work with Windows based pc's as well, according to Powermac6100 about halfway down here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1095349&tstart=0 -
The Edge doesn't have a full sized keyboard?
-
it's a 15.4 inch notebook. So far, only 17 inch notebooks have full size keyboards.
-
well the keys are still full size, your just missing the number pad on the right of the keyboard.
-
Buy a number pad extension if you really need it. They cost like 10US. Heck, I believe there are bluetooth versions as well which will go great with this system.
I'm considering getting a bluetooth mouse. Anyone uses them? how are they compared to normal wireless mice? -
They have really good range, and i liked the ones i used. The only big problem i have with them is, at least the ones i had, did not work in safe mode because the computer would not use the bluetooth...although that shouldnt be a prob on a lappy since you have your touchpad.

Just called PCMW today to change my order again! For 1900 (including shipping), I get:
P9500
2GB RAM
9800GTX
N
160GB 7200
If I get rid of the 9800gtx it will cost 1750. Not bad at all!!!
Ok..ok...I know what you are are gonna say - 9800gtx will not be supported - will probably change my order to the 8800gtx as soon as people get this laptop and review it. But, on that note, I asked PCMW again if 9800gtx is supported and man do they think it will be, despite what everybody else says they say they are determined to put that card in this notebook and will do it - time will tell. -
)
-
the only problem is that you will never see 9800m gtx on EDGE.
-
dude, when money talks there is always a way. the 8800m GTX will NOT be the greatest card on a 15" laptop. it will eventually happen.
-
if someone invest 1 billion, I am sure nvidia and clevo can fit gt280 plus liquid cooling in Edge within 12 hours.
-
i mean honestly guys -talking about price here - i'd like to see a retailer beat that price.
-
I can see the other resellers saying that the price we got is not the current price now and therefore it won't be a price match. -

lol i'm still holding out on the 9800gtx too. DRTH its just you and me.

I Have Faith!
-
hehe - liquid cooling in a notebook.. That'd be awesome! -
most people that believed in faith either died a grusome death and now have ther story told in the bible, or got shot for their beliefs -
-
Production begins this week
I'm in the first batch!
Can't wait for my EDGE. ARGH!!! -
auburncoast Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
how do you know its in production? did your account change? did you call them?
-
Called, all components except the 9800 GTX are in (they did not mention the quad cores, so I don't know). My account always read that they were building as I paid by wire so there was no processing stage like a credit card would have had, however, he changed it to the processing stage for me and from the time it goes into production it will change back. I will post as soon as it changes and I get my ETA.

If you want to know, M860TU units have already floated into US borders. (I cannot confirm though)
However, most vendors will not start customizing them or distributing the barebones until Intel is launching Montevina.
So just be patient until Intel gives the thumbs up. -
So anywho, is the 9800m GTX real on that config page for the Edge?
I'm reading people saying it'll never happen.
WTH?
edit: And also, question:
Why is everything on pcmicroworks.com tagged as EXTREME GPU. There's no such thing, right? -
They use extreme just to make it sound cool, in my opinion. I mean, imagine saying that you got an EXTREME graphics cards, damn straight, what's yours, some integrated stuff, puhhlleeeeease. -
And also, the EXTREME part is BS. I mean if you're going to be professional and sell computers that are designed and aimed towards gamers, you should at least KNOW that gamers would know what components to get, and what they are called.
Why would you even have the configurator then?
If pcmicroworks thinks so low of their customers to put EXTREME GPU on 8800m and EXTREME CPU on whatever, why don't they just make a pre-customized EXTREME laptop with no configuration options?
It just doesn't make professional sense. Hope you understand what I mean... -
Well there are a couple of people with loaded out wallets who see the highest priced options and go for that because since its higher priced it is "TEH BESTZ".
-
^^^ they called 8600m gt extreme too.
-
its all marketing... for the same stuff.
the consumer has to do his/her research to distinguish one claim to another. -
rumor from china: the shipment of m860tu is holding up due to chipset bug.
while our brains are getting overheated, why not take a look at this: http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio/X305
Toshiba is back for high-end market. -
they will more than likely just have a single 9800M... thats the only thing worth mentioning for technological improvements.
Still cant touch the D901C... which still has the crown it seems. -
sure Gophn. but i might choose this over 579x if i haven't bought one already. Harman speakers, dual HDDs, 1680x1050, 9800m gtx, they fit right of my needs.
-
the M570TU will have the same specs pretty much.
... more than likely with better pricing. -
But no Dual HDD......
ANd Great Speakers....
But at least it doesnt look like a frisbee -
you think toshiba x305 looks like a frisbee??
-
Yes.
Looks like one of those kiddie laptops.
Way to flashy, plastic like. -

agreed. hey this is some neat info, the game alan wake which has been in production since atleast 2005 is coming out on October 1st according to amazon.com. wow! can't wait.

10 Characters. -
So i know Toshiba uses harman/kardon for their speakers. What does Clevo normally use?
Yep, I got $650 dollars off (memorial, student and shipping). -
What is this news about a delay in china? Any sort of confirmation on whether it is true or untrue?
-
i personally believe it's true.
-
auburncoast Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
i haven't heard any news about this. whats the link?
-
More delays?(lost track of them already)
-
Id like to see some kinda link or something lol. Or else i have a rumor that says its on time and free!
