my source was from a small vendor in china, thus, I can't confirm it. it's up to you guys to take it or not.

Okay, PCMW has said (to me and others on here) that they start building this week. So has anyone's status changed on their account. They stressed to me that once they start building the status will reflect that.
Have they started on anyone's yet? -
not mine. my payment is still being verified.
-
Update: Intel got to them. They are pleading but Intel is playing hard ball and telling them not to ship out the laptops before the 14th.
However, many other companies do not have all the components in yet (like the x9100) and PCMW individuals may still get their notebooks up to 3 weeks before everyone else. Not that I care, cause I want us all to have and enjoy it.
However, I was guaranteed lowest price up until August 28th, even if Sager prices are lower, I will be given my choice of the difference back in cash or kept as a trade credit for upgrades. So there is no need to cancel your order. If you pre ordered, you are SAFE!
The Quad core and the 9800GTX are going to be in the system, however, as of now, its EITHER OR, it can't be both.
Motherboard upgrades are available, so don't throw away your EDGE because the new Intel Nathalem processor (mobile edition) comes out in 2010, send your laptop in and they will upgrade the processor with all the new components. Diamond customers will shine here as you get preferential treatment and the major discounts.
But still....darn Intel, they delayed it in the first place -
Was only a matter of time before this happened. Im pretty sure PCMW wont be able to ship out before they receive the OK from Intel since they are still a relatively a new and small company and not even a premier partner and not to mention the repercussions of ignoring Intel's warnings.

That is nice to see they finally wanted to be honest about the release of Montevina a couple of us have stated from the beginning. (BTW, it is July 15th)
-
I guess just hope that Intel doesn't delay the release again :/
-
I am just slightly confused about the Nehalem claim. So Clevo has confirmed support to Eurocom who confirmed to PCMW support for a motherboard upgrade in the M860TU chassis to a platform that won't even be released as engineering samples for likely another 6 to 8 months.
Sometimes I think PCMW will say anything to get and keep business. -
if so as I will get the quad and ssd and a 8800 card then
-
That email sounds more professional than others I`ve read on the forum here...
So they`re still learning,which is good. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Deathwinger, did you mean either the Extreme (not Quad) processor OR the 9800GTX?
-
Yes, I think that was what he meant.
-
if they are willing to price match any retailers, what is the point of $500 off event?
-
TO get more customers by having higher base prices.
duh -
They will guarantee the lowest price, and trust me, that $500 off was WELL worth it. Because even with that reduction, if Sager wants to come and have some price special for the launch of the Sager 8660, it will be matched. So even more savings there. -

Ok, so since I KNOW that Clevo has yet to ship the first production model of the M860TU to anyone anywhere in the world...I wonder what excuse PCMW would offer when someone asked them to take a picture of all those M860TUs that they have sitting there waiting to build with a copy of today's local paper in the picture?
Deathwinger...you are probably the best candidate to ask for the proof that they already have the M860TU in stock...let's see what they say about why they cannot provide it.
The Intel story is certainly a convenient one, but it too is just a cover story.
It is just one excuse after another to cover for all of the stories they have been telling for months now...I can hardly wait to hear what cover story they will tell when July 15th comes and goes and they still cannot ship the M860TU, regardless of its configuration.
Oh, and the only way they will be able to put an Extreme processor in that model is if they do it in spite of Clevo telling them that it is not supported or warranted by Clevo.
Now, as for the 9800M GTX...well, that is just another whooper of a story, and they will have to come up with yet another cover story as to why they cannot deliver it. Save this post so you can quote me later.
And finally, at this time there is no way of telling whether the Quad core processor will be offered in the M860TU regardless of what video card is in there.
Ok, I have been pretty quiet about this for a while now...and after disclosing the truth yet again in this post I will leave this topic alone again and just let time tell its story.
Those who continue to want to believe whatever PCMW puts out there will do so, and those with a little more wisdom will wait for the launch of the final production model Sager NP8660 (M860TU) to see what the REAL specifications are...and what the REAL pricing is.
As I have said before, anyone wanting to be notified when this information becomes available, just email your favorite Sager reseller and we will be happy to add you to our notification lists. -

Again, a very good & thorough explanation Donald. +1 As we have said on prior occasions time will tell its story as we pass by pcmw "ship date's" again and again.

thanks justin and donald. gotta whip us in line. even i still have a pre-order for some reason and i believe every word you've told us over PCMW word which has no backing whatsoever.
-
"I can hardly wait to hear what cover story they will tell when July 15th comes and goes and they still cannot ship the M860TU, regardless of its configuration. " Is that only for PCMW? Or are you saying that no company will be shipping them upon release?
-

only PCMW.

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
I am only talking about PCMW stories.
I am not saying anything else about when anyone else can or cannot ship. -
Okay. I was told last week by a PCMW rep that the first M860TU's were being built that week, and everyone who ordered on Memorial Day weekend should be started getting there systems built or being shipped by this week.
So. Even though I am pretty sure that anyone who's status has changed would have already volunteered that information. I just want to be sure. Has anyone's status changed? -
Once again Paladin, it's cool to remind us that there has been a lot of lie.
So please stop attacking eventual consumer (i'll be damn happy to cancel my order from PCMW and go with xotipc if they offer equivalent price) and try honestly to understand why so much people are still sticking with PCMW -
-
Well although PCMW has some ugly marketing technic, I seriously doubt they can go out of business with our money.
I believe worst case scenario they will refund our money and they wont sell the M860TU which would be wierd after all the effort they put into it
or I will receive a 15.4" with a 8800gtx for 2K$ by the end of july
So give me one reason why I should not stick there (knowing that i can cancel if anyone has a better price or use "price match¨, septic on the last option)
Could they have lower price by selling cheap screen or processor or ... ??? -
To Donald/Justin: hey guys, thanks for all your help thus far. But now let's talk business if possible.
What's the likelihood that some of us can get a group buy going when the prices come in? I mean there must be at least 20 of us here that want this laptop myself included. I like others have put down at PCMW but would of course rather to go with you guys but aside from being straight with us it would be nice to have a group buy on launch. just my 2 cents. -
that would be an interesting event....
... a NBR group buy of a particular notebook to get discounts... very interesting idea -
don't knock it broobviously its been done many times before ie. in the asus forum by gentechpc
It would be a great way to have a landslide of orders come in to either of you. It would be great if we had competitors actually blatantly competing instead of smiles and giggles to each other all the time. Just saying that for competitors you guys are really nice to each other and obviously the professionalism is there, but when REAL launch comes as you guys so astutely point out - a GB would be a great thing and seal the deal with a lot of us. Think of it as a great way to compete with those PCMW guys. Maybe you guys are really secure with your income and don't feel the need to have one - or maybe you'll think it's a great idea that would benefit a lot of us. Either way - balls in your court for this. just my 2 cents. i guess that's 4 cents in toto. -
Group sale? So one person would pay for everything and then collect money from the people in the group? If not that then it would be easier just to do a limited launch promo for like the first 2 weeks its offered.
-
Even if Xotic or Powernotebooks offer a lower price, PCMW individuals still have the price matching, which means u get the money difference back or credit for an upgrade later on.
I don't see any need to cancel with PCMW. They have a good after sales rep, why should it stop now? -
So far, their 3 month price match still sounds good.
-
cus theres no one to match it to
-
there will be, in less than 2 weeks
-
@DRTH_STi: I know you're getting justifiably prickly about the nonsense you've been taking for sticking with your goals, but you shouldn't let that cloud your reading ability - as I read his post, Gophn wasn't dismissing your idea but, like me, thought that it had interesting possibilities. -
@Shyster1: Thanks - but, given the ambiguity and setting of the comment I construed it as anti-GB material.
Yes there are a couple of ways to do it, holding in escrow is one of them. However, the way it was done in the Asus forum IMOP is a lot easier. One of the laptop resellers there had persons in the group by on a list. Then, when the laptop launched people on the list purchased the laptop as regular on the reseller's web page. However, the reseller then changed the amounts on the bill to reflect the group buy price. A second way to do it is to provide a "coupon" built especially for those people in the group buy that are redeemable at time of sale. IMOP, both ways are easy ways to handle the group buy instead of it getting messy with an escrow. -
@DRTH_STi,
Sounds interesting, do you, perchance, have a link or links to the relevant posts in the ASUS forum (I'm really lazy, aren't I)?
-
+1 for the group idea. coupon option sounds nice...cmon xotic/powernotebooks. =D
-
That's one of them - it got a bit messy at the end but it was for the V2S-A1 (ASUS).
Reseller Gear2play (Btotech) participated in it and I believe - don't quote me on it - gave the laptops away at cost or near it to a certain number of people.
There are also a number of other non computer related forums that deal with group buys as well including NASIOC (north american subaru impreza owners club) that even has a section on group buys (which I buy from all the time).
There are many more thoughout the forum, some succesful - some not so successful.
Point is - if either of our two resellers here would like to do it - it's been done and done succesfully at that if procedures are followed. As a guideline, I would list these procedures as:
1) Identify the product sold + dedicate a threat to the GB
2) Get a list of GB buyers, have a cut off number or date.
3) Identify discount (whether discount is larger with more orders or whether it is static)
4) Identify method of obtaining discount
5) Ship laptops and everyone is happy they got a great deal from a trusted reseller
Resellers may also not have to worry about PCMW's price matching guarantee. PCMW refuses to come onto this web site so when somebody points to this website for the deal + how it beats PCMW's price, PCMW won't even come here. SO you guys do not have tow worry about PCMW beating your GB price. It's a win win situation. -

groop idea sounds very cool. any thoughts on the justin or paladin?
how many here are looking to get this laptop? i make one -
we should do a poll similar to the one that was done in the asus forums of who is definitely interesting in being part of the group discount thing.
but should make sure if a group discount is even something justin or paladin would be interested in..which would be awesome.. -
lol I just called to cancel my order and the guy gave me a $250 discount to keep it. That's $350 that I got off now with my student discount
-
who were you buying with Doc Z?
-
I really don't remember his name, he had a funny accent though.
-
i meant company...... im going to assume its pcmw.
-
is it jsu me, or whenever i try to call them it takes more than 20-30 mins tao get some1
-
Lol you should try and finnangle the 400 sale discount they had also
.
-
well.. i jus called and got another 100 off... hmm that's a total of 700 off their "horribbly inflated prices"
on another note,
does anybody have an idea of how the sound in this beast will be?? I've heard that some clevo models had iffy sound...
