So what did they tell you? End of July. Cause thats what they told me today.
-
End of july? What happened to building and shipping late june early july
-
they told me mid-end of july
-
I am about ready to jump ship. Now I'm just trying to figure out if I want to go for the 5793 (M570TU) while the getting is good.
-
Ok guys...so I just called PCMW and spent like 20 minutes on the phone with them. Found out some information we already know but I also got free stuff.
Basically they upgraded me from a 160GB 7200 drive to the 320GB 7200 RPM + Gave me 5 years of lowjack ALL for free. That's actually not bad IMOP. They said that lowjack usually costs roughly 50 each year so that's 250 for lowjack + 150 for the hd upgrade so they really just gave me 400 in stuff. Not bad at all.
All I did was tell him how we've been through a rollercoaster ride with them and they keep putting things on their website then taking it off. I talked about all that stuff for like 10 minutes....then he calmed things down by asking me about the weather - then I asked him about the wildfires going on in Cali and the conversation grew a bit kinder - then he said hold on - he'll bring up my order and see what he could do for me because i've hung on to my order for so long. I didn't even ask him if he could upgrade my order for free.
I mentioned powernoteboks + xotic to him and he laughed and said Donald worked out of his house and YEAH he knows Donald's name - I was shocked.
Also found out that they are probably going to be labeling their PCMW logo on the laptops (where mycizmo labels theirs).
He also said that there are probably going to be another revision of the 9800gtx because nobody will put that in the laptops because it runs at 100Watts or so. He said he is literaly minutes from Nvidia headquarters and have a good relationship with them but they got in a bit of trouble for posting the 9800gtx in this laptop.
He also said that they were testing the ati 2****something series, don't know what that is but he said that it's running temps similar to the 8800GTX. SO they are pretty much testing as many video cards as possible on this platform and actually trying figure out what they actually can do with the thermal limitations. Their R+D team is working on this.
He said that them are an oem notebook manufacturer sorta like alienware and that other resellers here are small operations.
I asked him about the notebook and what it looks like and quoted that shipments shouldnt' even be in north america accordign to Donald/justin or whoever and he said yes that's correct but they have engineering samples and have been workign closely with clevo on this laptop. He said he has physically seen it and it looks pretty cool. I asked him about thickness near the end of it and he said it's really not that thick.
ALso - to those of us that have made changes on our systems thus far, it's not showing up in the main login window because they are updating the backend of the website or whatever - they are apparently working on this now.
What else....brain hurting..can't remember...
In other news...I guess group buy isn't happening? No resellers have responded to this thread....if you did decide to do the GB, this would be the price to beat --->

I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at Donald, I'm just laughing at how this part of the sentence seemed to just come out of nowhere.
I'll be calling to complain tomorrow. This laptop was supposed to be here for my birthday and all. -
That's cool I'll sure make a angry/questionning call when I have time but to bad for the PCMW logo, I would have prefered a clevo logo
-
-
@DRTH_STi, there are few parts don't make sense to me.
they either charged your pre-order a premium or they are losing money. but what is the truth? you decide.
-
That is the customer service department spitting out what you want to hear so they don't loose customers.
-
I think I can get an even bigger discount than my already $250 off that I got today. I should get some free upgrades as well so I'll call them tomorrow.
-
yeah - apologies if many things seem inconsistent about the information. I will double check tomorrow whether they actually charged my account and I am being charged interest on it - I would be pissed then. OR - if they haven't changed it then I get a kickback of 400.
I'll find out then - but or now things are not lookign that bad. -
has 4 bedrooms/4 baths, which is small for Greenwich, and is currently going for $8,200,000.
I certainly wish I was wealthy enough to work out of my home.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
Just checked on my order
It has changed from Processing to now Building.
I shall call them tomorrow to confirm. -
It is possible that they have all the materials to build it as all the other resellers probably do. They just need to wait for the OK from Intel to launch it. So if they actually are they probably wont be able to ship it till the 14th.
-
Now I feel cheated. I called whining today, and specifically asked about a discount on the upgrade to the 320gb 7200 hdd and was denied, so I bought it at the full upgrade price. Now I'm having buyers remorse. If I just tried a little harder I could have got that for free, dangit.
-
I must say though - that when I do call them - they talk up a storm - what they say might not be correct but they sure are willign to spend up to half an hour if not more on the phone with you no problem. -
we will see in less than 2 weeks now. my opinion is that never stick with a company who choose to lie to you at first place.
-
We'll see about any other video cards as they insist will be in the edge in two months ish. -

Be sure to read the article linked to in that post.
This is why all the "tell them what they want to hear" nonsense coming out of certain vendors can only be believed by those who so desperately want to believe that stuff. What they are saying is simply not true, and I cannot fathom why they continue this charade.
PCMW is NOT Clevo direct and they are NOT working directly with Clevo in any way...they are NOT nVIDIA direct and are NOT working directly with nVIDIA regardless of the fact that nVIDIA headquarters is in a city nearby to them. They are NOT Intel direct, and until just recently, when it became known they were violating their advertising rules, Intel didn't even know who they were.
They do NOT have engineering samples. They are NOT testing various video cards in the M860TU. They are NOT anywhere near the size of Alienware, or even PowerNotebooks.com. They have only been in business for a couple of years, and if you will recall when asked they said they are not "open to the public and don't have a storefront" so no one can visit them. Hmmm, I wonder why?
When any of you call them tomorrow...remember my earlier challenge...ask them to take a picture of their "engineering samples" including a local newspaper with a current date in the picture so they don't try to foist off some stock photos...oh, and ask them if the pictures of the conference room and the lab that they show on their website are really theirs. Since you cannot get a tour of their operation, ask them to take pictures of their REAL R&D lab and the rest of their facilities so you can prove to the rest of the good folks here at NBR that they are who they say they are...and so you can show those scoundrels from PNB, Xoticpc and Sager how wrong we all are.
Oh, and of course they would know my name...I have been in this business since 1999...which is also the last year I ever worked out of my home (except for evenings and weekends of course). PowerNotebooks.com has sold more Sager laptops than any other reseller or Clevo OEM in the US (hmm, other than ProStar), and by a very wide margin...of course they know my name!
Please be careful with where you place your trust. Remember the old adage "Fool me once, shame on you...but fool me twice, shame on me"
Sorry folks...end of rant :rolleyes2: -
I should have picked this:
Let me try that again, $25,000,000.
It just doesn't get any less painful no matter how often I say it to myself
At any rate, Paladin44, you seem to be doing just fine, regardless of what your house looks like, or where you conduct your business affairs, and you're certainly doing right by your customer-base.Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Stand back and take a look at the facts that Donald and I have presented since May. You will notice a common direction on where there statements are now headed after months of lies. It is in the same direction as the facts that were presented months ago by a few of us.
I agree with what Donald challenge. Lets see todays paper next to these laptops, video cards and other items they "claim" they are "testing" and in their "facility". It should be very easy to take a couple pics if the above is true. -

Would love to see some pictures of proof from PCMW and find they're just photoshopped
-
I got them to give me overnight shipping for free, amongst some other things, and I'll be getting pictures of my laptop next week via email.
-
Supposedly my system has been discounted so much that it's now only $50 above cost so he couldn't offer me any additional discounts. I did get a little something after being persistent though lol
-
Paladin44 - Donald:
Don't kill the messenger bro. I'm just passing off what I heard and I will definately be giving them a call today asking about those engineering samples and to take a picture of them with the day's newspaper.
Since i've got your attention - hows about a group buy??!! Come on man give us a reason other than your great support to buy from ya! -
-
Deathwinger + Docz - What did you guys get? I told you what I got!
-
lol
yeah i'll give these guys a call right now. -
All this PCMW bashing can keep going on but I really doubt that either XoticPC or powernotebooks.com can beat this price. Yeah we may wait another month or 2 before we see the notebook but the price is killer (at least for me). I'd love to buy from either one of them because I've heard great things about both but again...I'm skeptical about their price being lower than this. -
-
Oh well I got about $350 off my system and today I got a free upgrade to a 320GB 7200 RPM hard drive.
-
alrighty. config I ordered in my sig cost 1887 including shipping
-
no warranty?
-
So a company that is promising the world yet doesn't actually have the stuff on hand nor can prove they have the hardware? Pre-Orders are fine but it sounds shady reading over these phone call experiences from sweet talking reps.
Also why would you post a sig of a computer you don't actually have on hand? I mean this sounds like an awesome laptop but you don't have it and won't for a while. -
got no warranty because they're pretty expensive - the point was to get this laptop for as cheap as I can get it as I'm on a student's budget. Both of my wife and I are finishing our 3rd year at law school and are extremely, extremely in debt.but that doesn't mean we can't indulge every now and then
-
Yeah I'm thinking of dropping the warranty as well...$350 to get discounts on future parts? Doesn't really sound all that appealing. I just don't wanna run into problems down the line.
-
Hello, first post
I've been following this laptop for a while and finally decided to put in my order with PCMW. Quick question though, how are you guys getting it for so cheap? My config is similiar and with the instant rebate included in price and additional 300 off it comes out to be a bit over 3k.
-
Then again, I'm going to be making money from this laptop. So it's probably easy for me to see it like that.
@teebo: we order in late may during a memorial weekend sale, in which we got $500 US off the price. -
But I'm not that into getting new laptops or new parts every couple of years or anything. I know for sure I won't be upgrading hardware in my laptop but there is a possibility that I may want a new laptop in 2 and a half years or so. Is it worth it for me?
-
I dont' know bro. if you have the cash, go for it, if you don't, don't. I don't have the cash so i'm not going for it. a warranty is always good to have. i'm probably going to insure it under my credit card or something - i'll find a way. or that insurance company Donald was telling us about.
-
Yeah I hear you...$350 is way too much though...

Who got a Quad Core Notebook
from PC microworks
anyone have a any bad experince with them ? -
there have been a lot of good references from PCMW. Although - there is a sticky on this forum that discusses their prior company incarnations and how they weren't very good in the past.
However - if you protect yourself accordingly when you purchase ie buying with a credit card, you will hopefully get a system at a great price if you know how to bargain with them and you'll be protected.
Got the system in my sig on pre-order or 1650 by bargaining with them. -

Has anyone actually received their super-duper edge laptop yet?
I placed my pre-order in June and was told I'd have it 3 weeks ago.
The latest excuse is that, because of the Olympics, the order is delayed (they said it was delayed through customs) and that I'd have it this week.
I'm starting to wonder if these people aren't just taking our money or doing something shady?
