...well, when you consider what a great deal pcmicroworks gives its customers--I understand that they are now actually paying you to take a laptop from them--you should just be patient.
-
It'll be shipping on Thursday or Friday. Hold tight.
The delays have always been met with compensation in some form or fashion, I can't complain. But they have the systems, final burn ins are taking place, and after that they will be ready to go. -
Can someone post a video
of there Quad core laptop
on youtube would like to se how it works -
It's only a great deal if you receive the product.
I am patient, but that only goes so far before I start getting worried, ESPECIALLY when I have to call them for updates instead of them calling, or even emailing, me with updates.
A simple email once or twice a week of, "hey, we know you want your laptop and we're doing our best", would have sufficed.
What it really makes me think is that one or more of the following is occurring:
1. They took too many pre-orders to be able to fulfill them all
2. They made promises they couldn't keep (wasn't everyone wondering how they could get these components before everyone else?)
3. They are using my money to purchase someone else's components and, in turn, using someone else's money to purchase mine - i.e., the "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" effect.
I don't know who PcMicroworks are, I don't know any of them personally, and I don't know if they are honest, dishonest or somewhere in between. All I know at this point is that my order is 3 weeks overdue and, frankly at this point, someone should be calling me to explain, HONESTLY, why.
Avoidance makes them look scrupulous.
-
I wouldnt be worrying just yet. Even sager isnt quite shipping large volumes. The first wave is just beginning. If you dont have it shipped by mid-week next week, then maybe you should start to worry.
-
-
don't worry bro. I called them and shipping is starting late this week to early next week. I ordered memorial day weekend with some others and apparently we are the first in line - so dont fret if you don't get it so soon. You probably got a sick deal. It's worth it!
-
Sorry, couldn't help making the easy joke... -
-
a)Stop necroposting;
b)PCMW lied about the shipping date to take your money. Shady or not that's for you to decide but just remember that the very first M860TU was received last Friday;
so,
c)your order is not "overdue". Mine hasn't even begun to be built yet and I ordered it over a month ago. -
B) I got laptop in my sig for 1650.
C) I got laptop in my sig for 1650.
I think that just about covers it...lol. You'd also crap your pants if you knew the deals some other forum members got from PCMW. -
I'm not too clear on what you mean by "compensated" - I've yet to see anything like that.
-
Can you enlighten me as to how?
When did you order it?
When did you receive it?
Sorry if you've covered this in this thread, it's difficult to read through 35 pages of posts
-
I pre ordered my laptop for 2200 initially at the president's day sale. Then they grew late on their shipments so they decided to give people concessions like FREE PARTS. So I got a few free parts which brought the number down drastically to 1800 or so. Then a few people on this forum started badmouthing PCMW. Guess what happened? As a form of goodwill they dropped everyone's prices. Some resellers on these forums said "do not buy from there. Our prices will be better!" and "they are just pulling prices out of thin air with no basis of comparison." They just wanted you to buy from THEM when this laptop came out. What a joke.
Here's the kicker. I pm'd Justin at xotic and asked him to price match my unit. He said "their service is not like ours so we won't pricematch". LOL. Way to get out of your policy there brother.
So. Nobody wants to touch the prices PCMW gave and frankly, we who ordered from them have everyone on here to thank for these great prices. Thank you power/xotic you lined my pockets well!
edit: /end of defense. I agree with Deathwinger here. -
Sigh...I'm stopping right here. I'm feeling too much sour grapes being passed around. Listen, I'll stop talking about this for now, and the next time I post on it will be when I do a review on my system. (and yes, it will be before 2009, lol)
I can't say the same for DRTH_STI, he's gotten an incredible deal and knows what he is getting into. Which I find commendable considering the reactions of everyone who trusted the resellers of the np8660 to turn almost 180 when just ONE system was in question.
Ah well, such is life.
DRTH, you have my blessings to continue defending, but I think they're just going to get more angry. Not good for the blood pressure I've heard. -

Im willing to venture a guess that the good deals are a result of those inflated prices. If one person pays 2600, then they can sell it to another for 1600 and still turn a profit as a whole. Rather than being set in price, they can be more like a car dealership. So they probably arent doing anything wrong IMO. Although i do understand not price matching seeing as how you arent buying the EXACT same laptop, seeing as how it isnt Sager branded. Which does make a difference in a sense.

Everyone selling something trying to make a profit otherwise they wouldn't be selling... Think about all the people, all the equipments and all the insurances and taxes they have to pay, of course they ganna charge you a lot more to keep the business running.
-
let's wait till you actually received it from PCMW gentlemen.
-
what happened to "the chassis are being held up in customs and will be in to us within the week. We hope to have them shipped out within 10 days."
that was about 2 months ago. -
That's interesting, it was the story I was given last week.
So, now back to my other post. Are we getting jacked around here?
-
Thanks for the info - and sorry for making you restate it
-
I wont say anymore comments to make pcmw perish. It can do that on its own without any help.
seriously though, im going to get flamed in a minute. -
-
-
Flamed for what? Pointing out the obvious that what they're doing is less than honest?
-
I mean, im even the one that started this thread (the system glitched though and deleted the first 14 pages wich left eleron as the first post= owner.) -
Well...as I suspected - I called again a few minutes ago to find out why it hasn't shipped and today's excuse is that the WUXGA+ screens aren't ready yet.
I spoke with Erick at 1-888-59-MICRO (64276) and he offered to upgrade my CPU at no cost to an X9100 (3.06GHz/1066MHz/6MB).
My original order had a Intel® Core2 Duo T9600 (2.8GHz/45nm/1066Mhz/6MB)
I told him that I was still unhappy, but would wait...mostly because I have no choice.
I noticed that my original CPU is no longer offered on their website so I have to question whether this was a peace offering or just something they had to do since they don't seem to have any T9600's. I also question it because it seems odd that a salesperson who answers the phone isn't usually given the authority to just upgrade someone for free without first obtaining some type of authorization. Whatever the case, I'll take it, of course...just seems kind of fishy.
Erick told me they should have my system ready by next Thursday or Monday (9/1) at the latest. I told him I didn't believe him.

these guys are such perfect scam artists.

The WUXGA story is actually true though.
I don't think any of the OEM's have received them. Sager certainly hasn't. -
I think this thread should be merged with the m860tu owners lounge
-
Not until now...
So I guess my instinct is correct. It really does look like they aren't a legitimate company.
I'm going to call and request a refund today.
I've also taken the liberty of opening a case against them through the BBB in California.

I've been following this saga at a distance for some time now. Yes, PCMW offered some huge discounts to those that bought early during those sales, but the fact that the current price now exceeds what everyone else is selling it for leads me to agree that they're just using people to advertise for them. The strategy doesn't seem all that sound, since the targets of the advertisements can't get the same deal that the advertisers got.
This argument will keep on going and going until people start getting (and testing) their M860s from PCMW. -
I just called and spoke to Johnathon in customer service who offered to credit my account with a full refund but continue to keep the order in the system. He said that someone would notify me when it was ready "next week" and that I would then have the option to pay for the order at that time. I agreed to accept those terms.
...We'll see

@someguyoverthere
Notice the statement: "Sager has confirmed with Clevo that the M860TU will not support 44W+ processors or the 9800M GTX because of the thermal budget!"
This is not a Sager thing, it is a Clevo thing. Clevo does not certify their M860TU for use with either component, so anyone building it with either one has voided their Clevo warranty, which means any buyer only has their "custom" builder to look to for warranty on a build that is already known to exceed the thermal budget of that model. -

Why hasn't my status been updated then? =(
Someguyoverthere: PCMW may well try to stick a 44W+ processor in there and close shop before one can return it for servicing because something melted. So in that sense, they're not talking out of their hats, because they may actually try and do it.
It does sound like a very stupid plan though.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

Are they allowed to say they don't want to fix it if they offer a 1-year standard parts and labor warranty?

So has anyone received their long awaited Edge yet??
-
I have, temps are perfect, accessories are great. I'm loving it
So did another member Teebo, and DHTI will get his on Monday. -
After a month of frustrating angry conversations with the sales teams from Alienware trying really hard to order a M15X I finally gave up and placed my order for an edge instead, NOTHING MAKES ME HAPPIER to see light at the end of the tunnel... Yay! -
SplinteredVision Notebook Consultant
I just configured an edge and it came out to about 1000 dollars more than a sager with the same config
-
That's because PCMW lost so much with deathwinger's laptop they have to make it up by overcharging you....
-
They should have a new slogan though,
With PCMW, we can guarantee your Edge laptop does not burn off your wrists or palms like the competition, just your wallet instead. -
That's pretty funny, too!
(ps--I'm glad you got your beast) -
Not yet...but...
They called me on Thursday and said they would try to ship it to me Friday for a Saturday delivery. I don't think they got it out on time so I'm *supposed* to get it Tuesday (since Monday is a holiday.
