Thanks Prema! I just flashed the new ME update v.8.1.0.1248 and it flashed without a hitch. Here is a screenshot from HWInfo with the new ME firmware readout. +rep

Yep, got another file, reformatted the usb stick, didn't try another one though. Ps the same stick I use to Windows reinstalls.

Alright can you first check if you have created a bootable drive using RUFUS?
Make sure you have MS-DOS (not FREE-DOS) checked then drag all the files into the main area of the drive.
Restart the computer and press F7 constantly in order to get to the boot screen. Once that is done, select selection 1, then type flashme.bat

Everything should be straight forward from there on.

Oh by the way guys, your windows might deactivate after doing a PREMA bios mod since it changes some of the stuff on the computer. Just giving you guys a heads up.

I think the HWInfo problem I have is that I have no vPro tab anywhere.
Is vPro just for security? I can give a crap.. do I really need ME? My temps/idle watts are low, with constant 3GHz(Disabled C reports, C1E and EIST disabled) the package only consumes 15w and and 36 watts tops at -real world- full load.

Thanks for the information, it works fine.

    Edit:

I just noticed my GPU idle at 40C, I am using Prema Mod v1.4 UV Edition Bios though and recently installed the second ME update. CPU's is idle at 45C as well which is great!

GPU temps while gaming (GTA IV) hasn't gone beyond 68C so far.

I did everything by the Prema's guide the very first and others times -RUFUS formated USB stick, MS-DOS checked, bootable checked, draged all the files out of downloaded bios folder to the stick, from F7 menu got to the MS-DOS menu, typed "update" as it's stated in the guide, pressed Enter, and right after that it just hangs. Nothing helps. May be the fact that the LP is not of Sager's line or MSI's plays some role? Still not plausible. I'm also already starting to worry about future attempts 'cause of those rumors and myths about how easy it's to brick the hardware))

    Did you type "update.bat"?
Are you trying to flash the ME or BIOS?
Trust me, there isn't possibly a way to brick these laptops unless you something terribly wrong and don't follow the steps provided.
Even then, there is a way to enter recovery.

Everything should be a match and your computer should not possibly hang...
Is there something that you have setted that is causing this issue or some other hardware installed?

Ok I am also now on Premamod1.4UV + new ME. So far I didn't notice any difference, except that I have 3°C more GPU temp. But to be totally fair, I am now using another nVidia driver as when I measured with Premamod 1.3 UV. Besides that, I did not notice any changes. I don't know what I have to do to benefit from the new ME.

I also had trouble with the ME driver initially, but it was just because I had the older ME update from Premas Blog. I redownloaded everything again and it worked like a charm.

    [EDIT]
Ah, cool. When I set it to Quiet or Power Saver in the Clevo Center, I get idle CPU Temps at about 50°C. Very nice.

    It's a barebone Clevo W150ERq with 1.0.0.3DN BIOS.

I'm trying to update BIOS. And, provided by the guide I only typed "update" without any ".bat". Thanx for the cheers, anyway)

So, UPD. Thanx guys, typing update.bat was the solution. Flashed succesfully.

i flashed the new ME stuff and installed matching ME drivers on my W170ER, no problem at all. Don't know really if it's actually useful^^. It's supposed to reduce power consumption if i got it right ? I read before that it was supposed to downclock HD 4000 while idling. Well, i have HD 3000 on board so i probably won't experience any improvement concerning power consumption i guess. Maybe one day if i go for Ivy cpu^^

Edit : ok i just checked on my watt meter and i'm now idling at 22W in balanced mode + full brightness + wifi on. Was never idling below 24W before with these settings. So maybe there's an improvement here. But maybe the improvement would be more noticeable with an Ivy cpu don't know...

    ONLY@Ego Zero:

Create a bootable flashdrive using the flashing guide:

    FLASHING GUIDE « Prema Mod

Copy the the files from this archive to your pendrive:

    W110ER_FULL_ME.rar

Boot from the pendrive and run the "flashme.bat"

Make at least one full shutdown. System 100% OFF and reboot a few times.

Then install Prema Mod W110ER v1.4 or 1.4UV (follow included instructions)

Then only install the latest ME update that is available on the blog (follow included instructions)

Then install latest ME driver (also on the blog)

    ENJOY :)

    hey prema, quick question.

I was looking at the bios mods, and, notice you need to boot off a flash drive. now, after booting off the flash drive, are there any other steps necessary that require windows, because currently, im under linux, and some steps i wont be able to do.

I'm looking to down clock the cpu as well (would love to go under 1ghz) as my linux machine reports .1% cpu use :p

Was also looking at the ME flash thing. Would that need windows to be flashed as well? Please let me know.

Also, does your 1.4uv edition have pre-configured settings for downclocks and what not?

The updating of the bios is done under dos, you only have to make sure that ur usb is bootable, and then copy the files from the prema bios folder to ur usb and boot from the usb, then you go to dos and type in the proper command to flash the bios (for example update.bat)
Same goes for the ME update, although i wouldnt know if you need windows for that, in windows i have to install a matching driver to make everything work ok. have no idea if there is a linux driver as well for that. but the flashing is also under dos so no need for windows to be able to flash the firmware. but perhaps it is a good idea to see first if you need a driver for linux for that. or maybe wait for prema to answer

    Regards: Wulff

The BIOS/EC/ME are OS independent. All settings are stock and need to be changed by the user. ;)

you download it to a flash drive with DOS running on it. (see how to set it up on Premas blog) Then you BOOT from the flash drive and run the .exe. your current OS has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. :) you could do this without any hard drive in..

checked the flashing guide, there is nothing there for the ME file.

So essentially make a bootable usb, copy the all the files in the intel management to a boot drive, then run the setup.exe file?

    Think i got it.

Sorry for the double post, but i figured it out. Linux has support for the intel management, and, flashed the firmware. hopefully, i see a difference, i already idle at about 55 with the just the undervolt.

The flashing guide (for his BIOSes) shows you how to make a DOS Bootable drive. Then, instead of copying the BIOS files over, you just copy the ME files located in the zip file. If you did it in Linux, I am 99.9 percent sure you did not flash the ME Firmware. It has to be done via a DOS flash disk. (as far as I know)

yeap, it flashes but doesn't work. i tried this "fpt -f 8101248.BIN -me" and an inscription incorrect size. 1.5mb vs 2.0mb. I went and pressed "Y".
in windows appeared vpro and driver was installed, but I'm not sure that it works properly.

    Hmmm
My power consumption with the ME + matching Driver seems to be higher than with the ME firmware alone with no management driver.

Weird, Batterybar is reporting11.7-13W at idle with lowest CPU, LCD and no WIFI
    used to be 9-11W.

Then again I'm also using the newest WHQL driver for NVIDIA

If HWinfo shows Intel "ME Version: v8.1, Build 1248, Hotfix 0" under SMBIOS DMI > Intel vPro then ALL IS WELL ;)

YES, different ME & NVIDIA driver result in different power consumption...and the latest isn't allways the best.

Post a screen shot of ThrottleStop while your CPU is loaded.

The multiplier might drop down when lightly loaded but when fully loaded, it should be able to maintain the full 23 multiplier as long as it is not overheating.

Humm, does that cpu even support Turbo boost? (wasen't it supossed to be disabled on that low budget CPU?)

"the i3 does not offer the Turbo Boost technique for the CPU part and is therefore clocked at 2.3 GHz (max)"

Has anyone found a method to keep the iGPU loaded lightly to prevent the whining noise of it idling at the new lower Mhz? So far the only solution I've found is to live with it when on battery power and to run a distributed computing program on the dGPU when I'm plugged in.

It would be great if there was something like throttlestop for Intel GPUs that could keep it at a higher Mhz that could be adjusted for when your particular laptop starts making a whine that is noticeable to you.

    Batterylife test,

    Battereater Idle test
Balanced profile, corepark override registry mod, all cores except 1 will park unless active
    Throttlestop forcing 800mhz
    WIFI off, Lowest brightness

    5hrs and 17 minutes
Shocking, don't know how the Eurocom W110er are getting 400+ minutes, I wonder if they somehow have managed to completely shut off the GPU or if theres something on the stock W110er motherboard thats leaking power :(
