AWESOME!!! Prema for President
-
Thanks Prema. 1.x version to follow?
Blimey, your 3DMark11 score is crazy Prema. What core and memory speeds are you getting during a benchmark? I'm only getting score of around 3DMark11 score of ~2900 with 1200Mhz Core and 1075Mhz Memory, with the i7-3630 locked at the max turbo multiplier.
My offsets are +250Mhz on the Core and +175Mhz on the Memory. I'm using the 1.5 UOV edition on an W110ER (GDDR3 650M edition). -
i got this with the Prema mod 2.1OV NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO CO. W150ER score: P3518 3DMarks
Thats with +475 on the core and +1000 on the Memory clock
And TS set to 28 on the multiplier
great great great -
Ahh *Phew* I was crapping myself for a sec there, you guys are using the W150ERM, and getting the crazy memory clocks xD I thought you were clocking the W110ER memory at +1000 for a sec!!! The DDR3 memory only OCs by around 100-200MHz, it's pretty pants, while the core will go way further. Never really understood that myself, but I guess 2000MHz total for DDR3 isn't bad. I still think it could be better, considering that you can buy DDR3 RAM and much higher clocks than that.

Tester for W3x0ET OV EDITION wanted. PM me
-
Did you end up getting a tester for this edition? I am definitely looking forward to it. What are the requisites for being a tester? I doubt that I have the time or experience needed or I would have volunteered.
-
Hey Prema, I have a question.
I have a 1015PED netbook, does it have intel ME drivers on it? Or is that something that doesn't exist on a netbook?
I would like to update the drivers on it as it is my work and datalogging computer I keep on the go. -
They all use a version of the ME. If it's a current gen Notebook, try to flash the 8.1ME, if it's not compatible it'll tell you.
-
Hmmm well it's a netbook, not current gen. It uses a N475 ATOM chip.
Just curious if I can update it. -
At least the BIOS update of that model doesn't contain ME firmware...In this case I would say: "Never change a running system"!

Prema my laptop does not go into turboboost mode. How come?
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO CO. W110ER score: P2367 3DMarks
My scores are low and cpu-z does not show 3GHZ+ it only shows 2.3GHZ.
Is the unit defective or something wrong with the settings? -
That's normal on the w-Series models!
To force Turbo Boost while the dGPU is active we need to use the software Throttlestop:
1) Launch Throttlestop v5+
2) Set multiplier to “Turbo” (Highest value) and check the box.
3) Click “Turn On” in the bottom-right corner.
4) Click “Save” in the bottom-left corner.
5) Click “Options” and check the “CPU Mhz” box to see your current speed (optional). -
Thank you Prema, it works fine.
Hope you enjoy our Easter Weekend to!
-
Got it! Thanks prema! The scores were the same though.
Is my W110er benching normal? How come some people have scores of 3000+. -
No worries. 3000+ GPU scores on GT650 DDR3 are with OV EDITION and havy OC.
-
Prema, would the UOV edition give the same score as the OV edition, since the turbo voltage and thus overclocking potential is the same?
-
yes!!!
-
Thanks, I'll stick with the UOV then
-
Can anyone teach me how to overclock the GPU a little bit so I can safely push a little bit more frame rates when playing hitman absolution?
I have downloaded afterburner but not sure how to use it... -
Have you upgraded to Prema's BIOS? If you have then the potential for OC will be much less limited in any aftermarket OC software. Also, I am by no means an expert at this, and I only dabble in OC my hardware. Any changes you make to your hardware outside of OEM specs is done at your own risk. First off, check other W110ER owners (or GTX 650M) OC benchmarks to get an idea of what your ceiling is ( For example, here is a thread with some 650M benchmarks). Then choose a Base Clock Offset (like +150-200 MHz) and then choose a Memory Clock Offset (like +200-300 MHz) and test it using 3D Mark XX or Furmark to see if it is stable. I advise you start at the low end of those suggestions. You could also test your settings on your favorite game and run a GPU sensor log with GPUz to see if your system is maintaining those clocks, and what temps/voltage you are seeing. I own a GTX 660M and I barely crack 60° C, but every card is different. So pay attention to your temps. In the thread linked above, user Oz! managed to get up to 1225 MHz base clock and 1100 MHz memory, but his temps are passing 90° C, which isn't advisable.
So just gradually increase your base and memory clocks little by little while testing stability. A game, benchmarking program crash, or abnormal temps are usually a good indication that your clocks are unstable or could cause damage to your hardware respectively. So find what settings you are comfortable with and what threshold your specific hardware seems to like. There is no magic number and it tends to vary from system to system. Just keep an eye on your sensor logs and stress test your settings thoroughly before settling on an everyday clock. Hope this helps... -
Studie, I had a chance to read through that thread I linked a bit more (I advise you to do the same) and I had forgotten than there are GT 650M GDDR3 and GDDR5 owners, so you will not be able to reach 1200 MHz. I wanted to give you an idea of your max OC, but I may have mislead you. The best way to find your machine's threshold is to increase both clocks incrementally until you experience instability. I now have a good feeling for the clocks of my GTX 660M, but I have read about other owners who have successfully OCed it to higher levels and others who reached lower levels. So in other words the only way to find out is through trial and error, increasing levels with caution. I would keep it under, or around 1000 MHz core clock and the memory clock also around 1000 MHz. Anything over that proceed with caution and increase it slowly. Always monitor your temps (logs are the best way to do this effectively) and read as much as can to gain more insight into what you are actually doing.
-
The DDR3 & DDR5 650M clock differently but core is the same. My W11 does about 1280Mhz GPU / 1235Mhz vRAM
-
Prema, I still have to try your new P150EM mod... will do so as soon as I get a chance. Been painting my boys' bedroom, been taking all my free time! Also want to update my W110ER to the latest BIOS as well. Will do a benchmarking and write-up on both.
-
Hey Prema, about that mod you did with screen/extra cooler, any improvement on temps/noise? How about the screen, worth it? Any tutorial? I'm curious about it.
-
Nice, I wasn't 100% sure and didn't want him to start too high and get discouraged. I am glad that you cleared that up, and I thought I had seen some W110ER owners go higher than 1000 MHz and be stable. I know you know better than anyone that it is tough to give other people advise about hardware manipulation done on configurations you are not familiar with. I gave him all the advise I could because I was in his position not too long ago, and there is a lot of misinformation, or lack of information (on other forums) about overclocking.
-
You are the review master. What color did the boys room get?
I didn't do that myself...that was some Chinese brother...I would get the modded cooler from Calibre41 instead...
TBH, I have no idea how to do proper benches...some folks like Meaker or Clyde squeeze 9000+ 3DM11 out of their single mobile GPUs...my system just shut-down...I guess I need to find a sponsor for a 330W Delta ADP-330AB D / DC 19.5v ~ 16.9A
-
I have to say your detailed posts have saved me a lot of effort searching through all these cluttered threads.
Appreicate your help! I will give things a try and see how it will work out.
Hey Prema, speaking about that 330W powersupply, would that fix my problem with the 3820QM?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...ger-np6110-owners-lounge-441.html#post9146990 -
Ha ha ha, no I want the 330W for my P170HM3 not for the W11...if the W11 would not have supplied enough juice then it would not react with throttle, but shut-down...did that with my 90W PSU just while booting when I OCed a 2960XM to 4.xGhz on all cores to test my mod ...LOL
...did you test it on PM v1.5? As that one has ALL microcodes up-to-date to support all ES QS etc... -
I had a OEM 3820QM SR0MJ from China.
Trade in 3610+200USD can get me the cpu but I decided to save the money as it is quite expensive and I did notice any immediate gains.
Thanks for the insight. -
Hm, is it possible that the 1.0.2.-EM BIOS doesnt Support Intel XTU atm?
-
The P170EM & P370EMx versions do support XTU. Make sure you use the correct version, some like 2.1 won't work on EM.. -
Yeah, i know.
I get a FC when i try to install XTU 3.2 or 4.0, so its not a Problem with your awesome BIOS-Mod!
-
Try 3.1...
-
How did you get this result
I recently installed UV Prema and I maximum I could get in AfterBurner without any artifacts (e.g textures going crazy in games) was Core +25 / Memory Clock +100 with temperatures on 65-70 on GPU.
I did not test results with stock BIOS.
Should i install now OV, can this increse results ?
I do not care much of battery because i usualy keep my lappy plugged to wall anyway. -
I already tryed it yesterday, but today it seems to work!
-
UV is not a good OCer, OV is and UOV are the OCer...
JAY!
-
Hey Prema, I just flashed your bios on to my P370EM. Everything is working fine, just when i turn on computer, first American Megatrends screen flashes, then there is Intel Rapid Storage screen a then American Megatrends screen, but it hangs there for like 45 seconds, then it lists hardware and then just boot normally. Why is that hang there? I did recreated raid as you said, but it still the same
Even if i take discs out of the raid. Only thing that helps is change from RAID to AHCI, then it boots just as it used to.
-
IDK man, it seams the new RAID ROMs work better with certain drives than with others...try to update the Seagate Firmware, too and make sure to use RAID driver v12.0.0.1082? Try to avoid driver v12.5.0.1066.
-
Drives firmware is up to date. I tried RAID driver v12.0.0.1082, but its same. I just dont get it, computer just hangs, drives are not even seeking or anything.
Anyway, im back at stock atm. But its shame. I ll just try your next version, if its get better. -
Can't get my 650M core clocks stable passed 1195(originally 1099 without OV) with OV edition for W150ER. If I'm not mistaken, some people were able to achieve 1250.. is there anything I mus do to get those clocks?
And do memory overclocks really matter? -
Sounds like you're quoting your base clock. I'm talking boost clock. If you're running Throttlestop and using a 35w CPU, the boost clock will be 100MHz or so higher. My GPU boosts from 1155 core to 1270. It's running at the latter pretty much all the time throughout gaming, completely stable. I may try pushing it incrementally further, but there isn't too much need. I think I'll be pushing things too far then.
-
Passed 1195-1200 I get the nvlddmkm.sys BSOD. I have latest nvidia drivers, and P-state P5 is forced with nvidiainspector. Temperatures are good, on both CPU and GPU
Also if I don't force the p state and allow the state which offers boost, it switches back to default clocks randomly.. -
Maybe that's the limit of your chip then? Not everyone can go as high as eachother after all, each and every chip varies a little. Maybe me and the others are just the lucky ones?
-
which one then you suggest?
I am interested in only GPU overlock, should i go with UOV then ?
This is only increaing voltage on GPU, right?
I have currently 2.1 UV:
1. can I just flash it strait away now with 2.1 UOV/OV without any other changes doing a backup/stock load ?
2. can I just flash it strait away now with 1.5 UOV/OV without any other changes doing a backup/stock load ? -
Hello everyone,
My new W110ER by Schenker should arrive any day now, and I'm really looking forward to it
I have been lurking on this thread for some time now. The knowledgeable community was the reason that persuaded me to get exactly this model.
I was wondering, could anyone point me to a mirror with older versions of Prema's modded BIOS? I have looked on biosmods.wordpress.com but could only find the most recent version (also, my google-fu failed). Now, I am specifically looking for v1.2, should be based on Clevo BIOS 03. I'm going this far back because of the intermittent "whine" introduced by BIOS 04 and later due to a lowered idle iGPU frequency, and there is no downgrading from later versions. Speaking of which, how is the whine with the latest releases? Any new reports or workarounds?
I am aware of the great deal of improvements in the newer mod versions that I would miss out on, but frankly the only option I would love to have is disabling the screeching low battery alarm
So any old mod would do for now (until you convince me that the whine is not that bad
Thanks! -
Is there not a way to manually tweak the idle iGPU clock speeds?
-
YES, YES, YES
I pulled them for a reason! If you flash BIOS 03 or a mod based on it (even if you flash BIOS & EC without a shutdown) IT WILL BRICK your W11 and you can send it straight back to MySN
You can change 2D clocks via Nvidia Inspector...there are no idle clocks the system puts the dGPU into sleep when not used. -
Hi Prema, thanks for the quick reply!
I see. But is this that usual problem with downgrading (I know it's generally a no no) or something specific to do with 03? Would 02 be of use here? Of course I first have to see which BIOS I get fresh from MySN. -
Anything lower than BIOS 04 & EC03 will brick it...
