Wow! The new PremaMod v3 ist awesome!
One question: Is the enabled CPU Turbo while GT650 active permanent or optional?
-
-
well that is a good start
I was curious which ones were newer and older, as in, if you had a part number or revision.
-
Well I played around with my OC on the 650m Bios and I can get 1130mhz on the memory. I thought I could only get 1040mhz so that is quite an improvement. I'll try the latest Prema mod now
-
When there is mention of "new" and "old" W110ERs, what does this mean?
I'm using a model that I ordered in Oct 2012, with an Ivy Bridge CPU.
Can higher memory OCs be had on a new BIOS? Memory is what completely and utterly chokes the W110ER after all, so anything more on that would be cool. Can't remember what my clocks are on mem but it's between 1050-1100. Core is astonishing for me, up to 1270 when it's boosting (all the time in games). -
That's fixed for good, no more need to enable Turbo in Throttlestop on the W-Series. :hi2:
I have no idea if it' even the vRAM or something else on the board that changed, but the results are consistent between newer and older boards and that specific vBIOS.
It has nothing to do with the released Mods, but a beta vBIOS that we where testing which showed very divided results between older and newer W11. Your core is an awesome OCer.
BTW: I just fixed a bug regarding BCLK OC that was ONLY present on the P370EMx Mod, new version is up and kicking, sorry for the trouble.
-
Prema what processor do you have in you W110er. I wonder if we can clock them the same with the same RAM and same GPU overclock and see if the results differ between 740m and 650m New and old W110er to see if its internal RAM timings or something else.. I can only clock up to 1140mhz on my RAM though.
I'm using the v3 BIOS and had a look round, it looks great and really like the new splash screen! I like how lots of people will see your name every time they boot up
Do you need any help testing v1.6 Bios with the RAM OC?
Out of interest how come since Bios v2 it isn't possible. Did they remover somthing at a core level? -
Sata RAID boot delay finally sorted. Great job, many thanks!
-
Will u make a bios for the W350STQ allso ? thanks
-
Hi all. Im pretty new to all of thos so have a couple of questions if someone wouldnt mind answering them?
I have the clevo w370et with 3630qm cpu and nvidia gtx 660m from pc specialiat.
What is the difference between under volt and over volt?
What do you use to overclock your gpu? Bios or nvidia inspector, etc?
Do i have to do anything with throttlestop or can it be left alone?
What program should i use to test stability of my gpu and cpu. Im aware furmark is bad!
Thank u for any help
-
Have the fan curves been modified on the W110ER bios? My fan is a lot quieter now (or so it seems) and I love it!
-
It's over/under volted at Bios level so you dont have to do anything. Personally I always test using games because stability and clock speeds can vary from game to game. Obviously you'll get lower clocks and better temps with the under Volt and higher clocks but more heat with the overvolt.
Quite a few games have built in bench marks keep overclocking 10 or 20mhz at a time and try a few different benchmarks and check for artifacts or flickering or the more obvious one the display driver or whole PC will crash.
For 1/2fps difference I prefer to use use the UV version and have lower temps but the W110er is a different laptop so your results wont be the same. -
hi , can i ask , i'm currently on the 2.1 prema's bios mod and wishing to upgrade it to the v.3 of the mod , all i need to do is only download it to a flash drive and re-flash the bios mod by typing "update.bat" without having to revert to original bios right ?
Thanks for Reply

Synthetic tests like Furmark are terrible at gauging stability. I like to use a highly sensitive (but lower loading) test like AtiTOOL to find coarse stability and I then verify with about 50 passes of Crysis Warhead Mixed loops which simulate worse case game loading (3dmark 11 or vantage works well too).
For memory overclocking, I prefer to use the Standford CUDA Memtest which is extremely sensitive to memory instabilities. It relies on double-checking results so stability is defined by a total absence of soft errors as opposed to the highly subjective "wait until you see artifacts".
You'll be surprised how difficult true stability is to achieve even in a total absence of artifacts. -
Yep

Hey Prema. At first I was a bit sceptical with the enabled Turbo + GPU. So I did some testing and found no problem with that whatsoever. Most games don't put heavy load on the CPU so I couldn't measure any difference in heat or power consumption between 2,4 or 2,8 GHz while gaming. Only COH 2 is a little more demanding, but everything stays below80°C even after hours. (Using the PremaModUV)
The coolest thing however is that bootup is way snappier now. When Win was loaded, the 650M came to live for a second forcing the turbo to disable. With that gone the W110ER finally feels as fast as it should be.
Thanks a lot man.

Prema I updated my W110ER (from PREMA 2.1 to PREMA V3 normal one).
Then I went to update Intel GPU and Nvidia 650...
When I install latest nvidia drivers trough a custom "clean install" it says I don't have a compatible nvidia hardware graphic card.
If I use express install, nvidia driver installs, but the rest (physicx and nvidia experience) says "error".
I never had problems updating nvidia drivers before. Could it be any of the newer BIOS UEFI+EFI settings???? There's like vram EFI or something.
There's so many new options in the BIOS that I even never seen before, and don't even know what they mean.
ps: at the moment I'm not at home...

i use the same Mod and have no problems installing driver, you may have grabbed a driver with the proper .inf for W11 missing.
-
it is the latest nvidia drivers Nvidia GT 650M 320.49 WHQL for Wind7 64 bit
I have been installing nvidia drivers and none gave me trouble until now, not even the beta ones.
Can't it be because of the new Vram EFI and all that kind of stuff on the new bios?
OR because of the latest intel GPU driver????
Keep Cool -
Very doubtful on both. Try the driver and .inf on laptopvideo2go.

Yes, try grabbing it somewhere else or if the older versions will still install.
-
Yeah, but the .inf files I really don't care much (i can fix that).
The problem is really that the physicx software and nvidia controller would still be OFF
. (I really need nvidia software a lot, specially because in most games I have problems with GPU launching on Intel GPU even if I press start app with nvidia GPU...).
But later I will try default bios settings, uninstall intel driver, clean PC with ashampoo+registry mechanic... then I will download old oficial W110ER Intel+Nvidia drivers from the oficial CLEVO site and see if it install well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prema, I also flashed the latest Intel ME firmware for the W110ER from your site trough windows, but could you please link me to the corresponding driver PLEASE
.
Oh and BTW, PREMA I REALLY LIKE A LOT THE NEW BIOS STARTUP STYLE
.
Keep Cool -
-
Prema did you get to test out the GTX 780 yet?
-
Just a heads up, the latest Nvidia GT 650M 320.49 WHQL drops the max brightness settings by about 4 notches, I reverted to the older 320.18 driver because everything ended up looking really dim. The alteration isn't in software either, the driver somehow jacked the physical LED brightness settings.
-
I have been mostly busy finishing the Mods, but I soldered an external socket to the MXM board and have been running like 50 flashes on card and BIOS, I am slowly narrowing it down...
I am Out of station for the next 10 days so please help each other here!
-
I was wondering "WHEN THE HELL DID THIS MONITOR BECOME SO DARK" thanks for that. I rolled back the drive and now I feel back to normal. The driver actually dimmed it a lot on my monitor.
Wow, great ordeal you must be going through.
And will do! See you around soon. -
Hey all. Is the UnderVolt version still better than stock performance wise? Do u still get the 34 multiplier on the cpu? And what would the default clock be on the gpu with the undervolt? I have the overvolt but does run hot... Would like it to be cooler but stil want better than stock performance. Thank you
-
I have tried lot of things and couldn't FIX my problem that happend after updating from Prema 2.1 to Prema V3.
I have installed nvidia+intel GPU drivers from CLEVO website, and they are older ones that worked fine, have also tried loading default Bios settings........
No matter what, nvidia does not install physx.
After updating to Prema V3, acording to GPU-Z my Nvidia GT650M doesn't support "CUDA; Physx or DirectCompute 5.0".
ps: I guess it can be because of the NVram flash update from the Prema V3???
Keep Cool -
I have the same setup and no problems. GPU-Z doesn't show physics without driver...
-
If I flash your 2.1 mod for W110ER will it flash nvram to what I had before?
I haven't done anything else on the laptop other than updating the bios, and now I can't install any complete Nvidia driver (physix fail and nvidia experience too).
But for now I will let the laptop like this, because at least the main nvidia driver get's installed however there's no physx, cuda or direct compute 5.0.
.
ps: Anyone have any idea??
Keep Cool -
Do a clean install of drivers. Try to reflash first, then delete your nvidia drives, restart, and let the drivers download.
-
I did clean driver install.
I uninstalled nvidia+Intel drivers, restarted, cleaned their folders, cleaned the PC files+registry with Ashampoo+Registry mechanic.
Downloaded intel and nvidia drivers from Clevo website, official supported versions for this laptop, and physicx still failed to install.
ps: I tried already 3 nvidia versions and none install the physicx (and sometimes fail saying I don't have a nvidia hardware GPU on my system). I also flashed the BIOS again with the same Prema V3, but it's the same...
Keep Cool -
Your gpu might be failing. How old is your system?
-
im with prema, i installed the v3 mod as well and all is great here, although i do have the gddr5 version instead of gddr3
-
GPU never, ever failed, never got black screens, distortions.........
I simply updated nvidia drivers every time I saw an update and it never failed me.
But since I flashed to Prema V3, now I can't completely install any nvidia driver.
After flashing to V3, everything was also FINE with the driver I had (from like 1 month ago or so). But then I went to update nvidia driver and it said I did not had an Nvidia GPU hardware in my system.
ps: I managed to workaround and installed the main driver, but the rest FAILS to install, no matter the version of the nvidia driver
. So my GPU doesn't have Physx, Cuda, or Direct Compute support anymore.

Hi all. I followed the guide to flash the new p150em bios, and now my laptop wont boot. I mean, it goes to the bios, but without getting the logo, and it doesn't let me choose now any boot options, that option is greyed out. The first time after flashing I could change the boot order, and I also got the bios logo, but after reset the bios, the logo never was shown again and the boot drives have disappeared, even tho I can see my drives on the different sata ports. Any ideas??? Thank you!!!!
EDIT: fixed it already, thanks anyways guys! -
That would be the normal behavior if you switched to win8 mode. Just disable win8 or load setup defaults.
-
Hello,
I finally installed Prema Mod and it's working great! The bug of not being able to recognize the second screen was a non-go for me, but I'm glad that it's fixed.
I wonder if I can make a feature: during BIOS loading, if I press the power button, the notebook continues the boot sequence, instead of powering off. Can its behavior be changed to shutdown the notebook if pressed during BIOS loading? -
Long press power button will hard-shutdown the system at any point.
-
Hello there,
I have the Prema Mod V3 installed on my w150er laptop and i have no idea what the CSM settings in the bios are for, is there ayone who would be able to explain this a bit? atm i have it set to never launch CSM, is there any reason i should enable it for my win 8 UEFI installation?
thanx for any information on this subject!
Regards: Wulff -
Is there still this bug, that the W110s screen brightness is reduced with the 320.49 driver? I don't dare to update.
-
I don't know if that is where the bug comes from but my screen has gotten darker since the last update of some GPU driver. Couldn't remember which one though.. my brightness controls don't even work so I am stuck with it haha.. stupid clevo control center
-
It's just NVIDIA's driver version that's FUBAR...
-
Well I have latest nvidia driver, an always updated and never had that brightness problem...
Also my Clevo Control Center always work fine and I can control brightness well.
However I still have the problem that now I can't completely install any nvidia driver. New drivers came just today, will test them out.

All of this commotion makes me want to stay put lol. Think I might still be on 314 or something, I'm not even sure anymore. I play the same game with AMD in my desktop too. 13.4 works for everything I've thrown at the system so I stick with 13.4 haha.
-
I am using Prema Mod v3 with driver 320.49, install/uninstall, brightness no problems at all...
EDIT: Same with 326.19, all good. -
I need fast answer on this.
To install windows 8 with UEFI, what are the options that I should use.
On CSM (I have as following):
Launch CSM = Always
Boot option filer = Legacy only
Launch PXE Oprom policy = Do not launch
Launch Storage Oprom policy = Legacy Only
Launch Video OpRom policy = Legacy only
Other PCI device ROM priority = Legacy OppROM
1- Should I change all of them to UEFI only?????
Under OS SELECT what options should i use? (I have OS Select = Others).
There is Windows8, then Network stack (if enabled, Upv4 and Ipv6 PXE support appears to enable\disable).
2- So what options should I chose on this OS select?????
Keep Cool -
Set OS to Win8 and make sure UEFI is set to enabled. Then install the "secure boot keys in the security boot menu (you may have to re-boot once). You can enable the Ipvx support, too.
-
Prema, and on the CSM, should I change everything to UEFI ONLY instead of LEGACY ONLY???
Or should I deactivate CSM?
Keep Cool -
Just keep it the way it is, you can changer it later on. Don't change the Launch Video OpRom policy to UEFI though or you will loose the dGPU OC...
