Understood. That is why I have ordered the 2090 with the higher res. I was just giving my take devilcm3's question about standard resolution. I did forget to quote his post.

Oh no! Oh NO! NO NO NO!
XoticPC tells me they wont have a WSXGA+ Glossy for four weeks... OR MORE! School starts in like 7 weeks...
What's the real difference between Matte and Glossy? Maybe I'll get the Asus G1S... Or the C90. It looks nice... -
Glossy tends to make colors brighter and I believe gives more contrast. It also has a mirror effect that many people dont care for, although indoors it isnt terribly noticeable. A sunny day outside or under fluorescent lights is a different story.
Matte is very likely the finish you've seen on most desktop LCD panels, it reduces glare and reflection and is easier on eye strain. It is also been said to create colors more accurately than glossy panels also.
Nearly all the laptops you will see in Best Buy, CC, etc have glossy screens. Thats not saying they are better or anything, just pointing that out in case you wanted to drive down and check one out. They may have a matte too that you could see side by side. Otherwise look at the LCD monitors, they should have both types of those that you could see side by side. -
Did we ever find out if the Sager is faster than the G1S? -
Glossy can give headaches to some people after a while irrespective of whether their lighting situation causes perceptible reflection or not. If you google for the words glossy and headache, you'll get some hits.
I've heard a few colleagues complain about it last semester. -
A friend of mine actually gets headaches from Matte screens, happens to him for desktops as well.
Generally speaking I see more people looking for Matte, yet matte seems to be harder and harder to find for some reason. Production cost maybe?
The G1s is faster at stock levels, due to the GPU it has being clocked higher at stock. I think it was decided performance was comparable, and easily reached by the 2090. -
Well I went to Best Buy and looked at glossy and matte screens. It appeared that the glossies were a little brighter and clearer. Is this the case on all glossies or is it just the better quality of some brands?
EDIT: I just noticed a potential deal-breaker... They switched the Fn and CRTL keys... How am I supposed to play games with this layout? Is it possible to switch them? A program that will trick the comp into thinking Fn = CTRL and vice versa? -
-
7/10 delivery date, It's as if I didn't preorder at all. Or didn't get teh lower res.
-
all about the matte baby
-
glueeater, lol, that really bites
-
Meh, you'll probably still get yours before mine. ;(
-
So if I order mine today, and got it Friday, you guys would be so pissed wouldn't you?
-
-
So just switch them and use sandpaper to sand off the lil prints, then use whiteout and write crappily Fn and Ctrl on them again.
...Or you can just get use to them. -
I'm not wanting to wait 4 to God-knows-when weeks for a 2090. I decided to maybe get an IFL90 instead. Even though its $200 more, it will come 4 weeks earlier. BUT, do you think that I'll need to upgrade to 64-bit Visa any time soon? Does 32-bit only support 3GB RAM? -
The 2090 IS the IFL90. I would imagine they will all ship around the same time.

-
What pisses me off, is that ok ups messed up my order. But they don't even make an effort fixing their own mistake and stick me with the cheapest delivery. DAMN you Fourth of July national holiday.
-
-
that deserves a complain in my opinion. if they mess up they should compensate you in some way
-
Whoooo, I just finished reading the entire users manual! -
The users' manual is online? Do you have a link? I'd like to prepare for it too
-
-
I just used this http://www.bizcom-us.com/support/IFL9091/UManual/030/IFL90-030_UM.pdf
It's kinda lengthy, and I only skipped the xp parts because I'm getting vista. -
Thanks for the manual, I must be the only guy here that plans to use good ol' XP!
-
I was going with XP at first, but I didn't want to go through the trouble later of getting vista on there, so there you have it, lazy ol' me...
-
I'm going Vista myself as well, not because I like it more, simply because I'll end up needing it at some point /shrug
Oh and Glue have you considered calling UPS and telling them that you are writing them up to the BBB? -
Dont' worry, I'm an XP guy too ;o
-
It's pretty much teh same with me, yeah XP is probably better but I see myself being too cheap to buy vista, so it just kinda saves me the trouble later on.
lol not really. I'm the kinda guy that doesn't really wanna do anything. Partly because I don't wanna be that guy that's always ahead of you in the line keeping everyone up, but mostly it's because I"m hella lazy.
but do you think that'd work? Just threatening to call up the BBB? Doesn't seem like it might, actually might seem like something that would take out an hour+ with the on hold time. I don't know if it's within my right to call because xoticpc did everything and has all the information and the delivery is under their name. -
For me, I'm just too damn used to XP even though I'm probably going to have to go to Vista, if only for the DX10 support (unless stable DX10 drivers for XP comes out). Besides, a lot of compatibility issues and the crappy signed drivers thing for 64bit Vista is really turning me off.
I just put pretty themes for XP to keep my Vista urge in check, because that's their advertising feature for new computer users - prettier looks. -
I was going to install xp pro but i just stopped. I only have an SP1 cd and I do not want to deal w/SATA drivers...so I'll probably just install Fedora 7 or Ubuntu 7.04.....as for gaming, well I'll just have to buck up and face the bad drivers for a few months...hopefully it'll clear out soon.
-
I read somewhere that MS isn't coming out with a SP1 for vista, and it's only going to be updates overtime.
-
Bah, I'd rather have a big upgrade that'll improve a lot of the features or fix a lot of the features...now I won't know when Vista's good to go!
-
Edit: Please look at this: http://crunchgear.com/2007/05/21/windows-vista-sp1-coming-soon/
It is a screenshot of sp1 running... so it does exist. -
Oh it works, not all the time, but if you land with the right person, it works. I've done it a few times with other companies(Fedex once) and I have followed through if they didn't fix whatever was going on.
Though I guess since Xotic did all of it, and you never spoke to UPS yourself....might not work so well. Tell Xotic to do it
And as to Vista SP1, it will exist. All kinds of information on it. The real Rumor was that it was getting pushed back into 2008, which wouldn't be cool. -
Yeah, sorry about that SP1 thing. WHat I was going on was pretty old. Not sure where I read it.

heja, anyone who could re-upload the 12 mb pdf manual for the IFL90? that would rock
it went down while i was downloading it (10 kbps or so :/) and i'd like to read some stuff about it while waiting as well
would be appreciated a LOT -
it's up again, dlding at 5 kbps, stopping every time afer 10 min or so
-
http://www.bizcom-us.com/support/TechSupportDriversDownloadPage.htm
get the manual from there, the downloads go much faster for some reason -
I'm getting a kick out of them calling the fingerprint scanner a "finger printer".
Let's finger printer, for happy!!! -
that really caught me off guard the first time i read it. it was a very wtf moment for me -
i'm bored so, does anyone want me to download all of the 32 bit drivers put them in a zip and make it into a torrent?
-
I have one more question...
I head on these very forums that the 8600GT has 512MB on-board VRAM, and can even Turbocache another 256MB for a grand total of 768MB. Will this make it more "future proof" than the G1S, as games will require more VRAM for higher res textures? Also, is the loss of DVI or DHMI going to really upset me? I want to get a large monitor and TV tuner to watch TV and movies on my computer, but as things go Hi-Def will I REALLY need one or can I buy an expansion card?
Also, how is the screen? Is it crisp and clear and bright or bluury-ish and dull? -
-
i kinda dislike linux. i installed it on my last laptop and i didn't like it much
-
Flip, that would be awesome if you got all the 32bit drivers into a zip and uploaded somewhere. I would love you forever!
Or at least give you some rep points.
