For perspective, PowerNotebooks.com has shipped just under 100 of them.

So, there really is life outside of this Forum :D

Compared to my last Inspiron the plastic feel much sturdier. It actually reminds me of the plastic on my first Inspiron laptop and that was very sturdy. (Previously owned 3 Dells.)

Certainly not as stylish as the MBP's touchpad, that's for sure.

The flex on my keyboard is almost nil. I can't say I'm unhappy. The only thing which is annoying is adapting to the new keyboard. The keyboard just feels differently dimensioned from my previous laptop (Inspiron 600m) so even typing regular letters took a bit of adjustment. But I got the laptop yesterday and I'm pretty much adjusted now as far as regular letters are concerned. Maybe it was easier because I touch type... I don't know. The hard part will be to adjust to the location of the Fn and Ctrl keys and the navigation keys on the right side of the keyboard.

Ah, a Thinkpad lover... that explains the comments on the flex. ;)

Yep, I have to say I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm not happy about the delays but happy with the purchase for sure. :D

I also want to reiterate that PowerNotebooks and Donald in particular have treated me professionally and courteously during the entire process. :D

YES they do...all of them (WOWs+Email+Browser+Mute).
It was like that right out of the box...Vista64 installed.
The only thing I had to do myself was touchpad software to enale scrolling....everything else came already working.

Question: is there a way to manage WiFi/BT switch to enable only WiFi and let BT off? I don't use BT all the time and it consumes energy and is less secure. Anybody?

For me in XP Web/Email/Mute work but Wow Video and Wow Audio don't.

Same thing in Ubuntu, by the way.

I don't think it is a hardware problem... some configuration option is not set right somewhere.

Regarding BT, it can be left on so that it will automatically interact with BT devices without having to be turned on. For instance someone who uses a BT mouse might want to avoid having to turn on BT all the time. Anyway, Ubuntu is my primary OS so I have no quick answer to BT questions in Windows.

No, you can enable and disable the antenna...and it will discover BT devices when on and configured to do so.

I just figured out my question above...the WIss application handles both antennas and you can configure as needed (none, both or just one of them). The led indicator shows different color (blue/purple) depending which thing is on....Cool.

My web/mail/mute buttons definitely work on Vista32.. no idea what to do about the WOW buttons, since the drivers on Sager's site aren't even listed for Vista32... i think i'll contact them as soon as I can for an explanation of that one lol

    Hi everyone

    I hope you're all liking your ifl90s.

I was just wondering if you all got your camera's configured... I installed the driver from the cd, (CNF6212VideoClassUSB20PCCam_v5.8.9.000) but I can't seem to use the camera, do i need extra software that didn't come on the drivers disk? any advice you guys can offer? I have 32 bit vista business installed... the rest of my specs are in my sig. Thanks.

The software is AMcap. It kinda seems like the software and the drivers are one thing. Because when I downloaded what I thought was the drivers, I got a window prompting the software installation.

Hey everyone. I got my 2090 a few days ago and wanted to switch to 32 bit vista as quickly as possible after hearing the driver issues. However, I decided to give 64 bit a shot and so far I have had no problems at all. If you're a normal user (internet, gaming, schoolwork), I recommend sticking with 64 bit vista. The WOW audio and video does work on 64 bit vista but I have yet to discover its usefulness.

good to hear some of you have your NP2090's. Mine will arrive tomorrow, so I'll be sure to have my parents home to get it. UPS even called to tell me. Just wished their ground shipping was faster!

it's disappointing to hear some of your don't have the panel controls plugged in automatically. i hope mine is so i don't have to pry the panel open! you'd think the "96 hours" of quality control testing would've caught this.

when you installed Windows XP, did you get a BSOD? (Blue Screen of Death) because I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro and I keep getting one. (presumably from a missing SATA driver, because XP does not support the new SATA connection).

CNET has one, but personally I think they were way to harsh on the NP2090 and gave it an undeserving score. There's some *ok* analysis, except for a handful of blatant lies, so you should check it out. Ignore the low score though, I have no idea how they arrived at a 6.5 after noting only a handful of things wrong with the laptop.

They're just comparing the IFL90 to systems that are in a different class, price wise and all.

That and, apparently their reviewer either didn't do his research, or was told misinformation from Micro Express... One of the cons he listed was that the IFL90 is only available in 1200x800, which is clearly untrue.

I just got mine yesterday and here is some initial feedback on the NP2090:

Overall it is an fantastic laptop. I was coming from an older NP3790 and this is a huge improvement. I have 2GB of RAM, 512MB video card, and the matte screen. So far everything works great (e.g. XP drivers, no dead pixels, quiet, good heat management). In addition it just looks great and is lighter than I expected.

Gaming performance is very good. World of Warcraft (my primary game) runs like butter with all the settings maxed (avg 60fps). It also looks incredible. Oblivion also runs well but I don't really play that game much. The sound quality is also very, very good.

The only minor things (which I am sure I can resolve once I have a chance to tinker some more):

    1. Keyboard is "mushier" than my NP3790 and will take sometime to get used to
    2. The matte screen make the whites look a tad grainy. This doesn't effect games.
    3. The charging light blinks in the front of the laptop - which can be annoying since it is not in plain view but your eye will notice it.
    4. Scroll/Num lock seems to behave strangely - like one press for numlock and one press for scroll lock - like the FN key isn't needed.

It is a great machine for ~$1400 to the door.

I got mine yesterday as well, I spent night getting the extra RAM in, OS installed and a few programs. My specs:

    WSXGA+
    T7300
    3 gig RAM
    7200 3g/s Seagate 160gb HDD
    Vista Home Premium

My impressions (this is my first notebook):

This thing is very sharp. Yes its all black and I think because of that pictures make it look plain, but when you're in the same room with it, its very sleek and I don't think plain at all. The blue lights look nice and didnt seem too distracting to me, although my wife thought they were.

The screen is very nice, I had to laugh at myself for cancelling my first order because it wasnt going to be glossy. Everything is very crisp, the light saturation seemed very even, and viewing angles from left to right were good. Up and down were not, but I cant imagine that matters much. So far I would say the screen is the best feature on it.

The keyboard is very firm everywhere except for the left side, which is unfortunately right at the standard gaming keys. It isnt terrible in any way, with normal typing it doesn't flex at all. I haven't gamed on it for any amount of time so although I dont think I will press hard enough for it to be an issue, I don't know for sure.

The hard drive is the 7200 seagate momentus 3g/s, and after installing vista, wow (standard and expansion) and CS Source, the left side of the palmrest was only a little bit warm, not hot in any way. It is also pretty quiet, I heard the fans kick in only when I ran CS Source, otherwise its silent.

Like sour said, WOW is nothing for this machine, and from what I have seen CS Source is no problem either. Everything turned up and it was around 75fps in CS in game. I will be loading BF2 tonight.

Overall I am very happy with it, the waiting isnt gone from my memory, but I am happy nonetheless.

P.S. I was concerned the resolution would be too small for me, but after using this for only a little while I actually had to check to see if I had turned the dpi up, everything seemed to be just the right size. If text is too small once you turned dpi up to 120 from 96 I dont think many would have too many issues.

My old laptop does this ( e*machines). Often I can stop the blinking by pulling the AC plug out of the back and re-inserting it, once the laptop is charged. Before it is charged it seems to keep blinking no matter what

Got mine today, the machine is amazing. The screen is amazing, only flaw is that I found 1 dead pixel on the left side that shows up in white/green/yellow backgrounds. Doesn't bother me at all because its basically unnoticeable, even when I turn the background to all white, I actually have to search to find the dead pixel since it's so unnoticeable. Overall, very pleased with this machine.
