Sager NP2090 Owners Lounge

Got mine yesterday. XP Pro wouldn't install (got BSOD) so I decided to go with Vista Ultimate today. Been downloading and installing stuff since then. Screen is really nice. Interior feels somewhat cheap because of the hard plastic but it also feels very durable and really isn't a problem. CD drive feels a little fragile since when you pop it out, you can push is back and forth instead of being stiff. But it works very well. I'll write a full review after a week or so of toying around.

 

What screen sizes are you all getting? B/f and I are probably going to go with 1280x800.

 

installing xp! ahhh, the glory of the laptop - the one thing that i was surprised about is the the actual top finish - it's not flat like I had anticipated - its more of a black that has a "fishing boat" type sparkle in it

I ordered the EXACT same laptop, according to your signature specs, from PNB on 6/28 and still haven't heard a peep. I guess I picked the wrong seller

 

Virchow, resellers should release at the same time. It tends to be Sager's decision when to fill orders, and Xotic and PNB should fill at the same time. You should probably call Donald regarding this.

 

Anyone having problems with, I don't know what specific part this is but it seems that every few seconds my mouse will click. Like if I'm playing a fps and i"m idle for too long I'll just fire. Or if i"m typing and I leave my pointer there for too long it'll click their, moving the cursor wherever it clicked. It's kinda annoying. I'm using an external mouse btw.

 

I've just hooked up my Dell W207FP monitor (20.1" WSXGA+ resolution) and it works fine. It may be because my NP2090's native resolution is WSXGA+ and the monitor hooks up properly. I don't know how it works if you have mismatched resolutions, but I don't think the laptop has issues with hookups on external monitors.

I just read your article about the 19" not working with your Sager.

I suppose I was sorta talking to you though your previous post wasn't talking about that.

 

Yeah, the laptop definitly doesn't have problems with external hook ups, I've tried it with other hook ups, Albeit with a 15" CRT, that probably had the same rough res.

Anyone know what's up with the clicking thing though?

 

I've used an external trackball in XP with my NP2090 without any trouble. Used it while playing HL2 Episode 1, no problem there. There's a way to get a log of USB events... I don't remember off the top of my head how it is done but that may be useful to see if the mouse has an "overactive bladder".

I've hooked my 2090 to a 40" HDTV, no problem there either. (Except that my RGB cable is a @$%$%! antenna.) The resolutions don't match but then again I did that in Ubuntu so I was using X with nVidia's Linux drivers, not the Windows ones.

 

I've had mine for about a week, and the only real problem i'm having is my wireless wont work. And if i do the windows update then my lan wont even work so i had to do a system restore just to be able so get online. anyone else have this problem with 64bit?

 

I keep hearing all these delays with Sager notebooks. If I ordered mine, let's just say for the sake of argument, today, when would I recieve it on my front doorsteps?

 

Please contact the resellers directly, they are the only ones who can tell you about the shipping times.

 

the turn around has gotten pretty good. i ordered mine on july 28th with WXGA, 2gb ram, no bluetooth, and no tv tuner and it shipped out today!

 

WTF? I ordered the 19th and still not shipped.

Ordered my 2090 last night from xotic, finally a member of the club...

 

Whoo! Mine is supposed to arrive today. The local shipping center is about 30 minutes from my house, and the delivery truck left at 9:30, so hopefully I'll get it soon!

 

How do you guys find out when yours is shipped? You get called or an email? I havent recieved anything

Shipped on July 31th, received email notification and tracking number August 1st, got a phone call from UPS acknowledging the shipment date a few days later, received my Sager on the 8th

So the turn-around time for ordering a Sager laptop from Xotic PC will take 1 month from the day of order to the day of receiving it? That's pretty long...

 

It should be getting shorter.... or so I hope.

For what it's worth, I was told by Justin from XoticPC today that an order placed today with the WSXGA+ screen would be shipped in the "first part of September."

 

Which Dell? I just ordered a Dell 1520 with 8600M GT and delivery date is scheduled for 08/30. That's 2 weeks from now.

I guess 2 weeks is OK for me to wait, it just that taking 1 month is really long, especially if I have to wait extra days for the check to clear (I want the discount).

 

I ordered mine July 19th with a WSXGA+ screen from Powernotebooks.com, and it shipped Aug 14th. With ground shipping, I should have it by Aug 21st.

i ordered my wsxga+ july 19th from pnb and was told they mine didnt make the cut and wont ship out....
how come people ordering later are receiving theirs but not i?

If you're referring to the post above, maybe difference between retailers? Maybe Xotic had less orders and equal PC's so they could ship to later order dates?

 

well both xotic and powernotebooks said that WSXGA+'s would resume shipping on the 20th i think that i was just higher up on that list and mine shipped a little earlier, i'm sure yours will be shipped early next week

I ordered my WSXGA on July 24th, and it shipped yesterday, it's supposed to arrive tuesday!!!

 

sigh..another wsxga ordering later got it before me...
there is no difference between compal ifl90 and the np2090 besides small things like warranty. i dont understand..just really dissapointing. need it for info systems major =\

There is a difference, because the Sagers aren't from XoticPC, they are just being sold by xotic. You get them pretty much from Sager. And if you get the powerpro or the force they come to PNB or Xotic, where they are assembled etc.

UPS says mines supposed to be hear tues. wouldn't be suprised if it comes on monday seeing how it left and 5 am this morning and will have all of friday and sat to travel, unless it needs to make a lot of stops

EDIT: my status was pre-order pending item arrival and then went straight to Phase 5 shipped, only got e-mails for wire transfer info and order update when it shipped.
