Yeah everyone is getting that upgrade for free, it just wasn't widely announced.
I've been on Phase 3 Sent to Production for two days now, how long does this step usually take? Phase 4 is Testing and Phase 5 is Shipped right?
-
oh my gosh my 2090 has shipped and is expected to arrive tomorrow! I'm so excited, but I have SOOOO much homework to due lol, so I definitely am going to have to stare at it in its box for at least one day if it does indeed arrive.
Does anybody want another review? If so I'll make one. -
Hey, congrats, Mets. By the way, those 10 errors the other few nights were terrible. Anyway, another opinion can't hurt. Have fun with your new laptop.

My gosh - you guys are just getting them now and you have ordered in July!? 0_o
Just put my order in today with Donald at PowerNotebooks.com. He's done lots to ease my apprehension as this is the first order I've done with this kind of product/service. As with most people, I've usually gone with name-brands (Dell, HP, etc).
This forum also helped ease my apprehension too - found very informative posts, drivers, bios, etc. Somethings a bit too informative (the SLIC 2.0 tool can be used for an "art" darker than overclocking...)
Edit: That was a nice surprise from Xotic (the free CPU upgrade)! Probably a gift for you guys being amazingly patient. After all, after 2 months, prices would drop, technology may have changed. Probably part of the reason they gave the upgrade is because of a price drop? I'll stick with the "appreciation gift" theory. -
As soon as that billing issue was sorted out, XoticPC was extremely fast with processing my order. Order shipped!
-
I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. But I ordered it last week. I hope to get it in the next few weeks or I might just EXPLODE, LOL.
-
It's on it's way, got my shipped notice today. 50 days it took to get a laptop shipped to me, unbelievable. (30 days were Dell).
I just cant hardly believe it. -
Heh, just don't get too used to the wait!
-
So, I take it that long delays are expected from Xotic? I was a bit discouraged to see that my order said "back ordered (2-3 weeks)." I guess this isn't a big deal, but how long would you suspect that it would take to actually get to me?
My config:
- Display: 15.4" WSXGA+ "Matte" Type Super
- Processor: ~Intel® Core™2 Duo T7250 2.0GHz
- Video Card: 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce
- Ram: ~ 4,096MB DDR2 667 PC2 5300 (2 S
- Intel® Robson Turbo Memory: 1GB Intel® Robson Turbo Memory
- Primary Hard Drive: ~ 100GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150) -
Should be here later today -

Ordered on Sept 13th and after e-mailing my rep at discountlaptops today to confirm payment, he says it'll be shipped be out middle of next week.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your order with Sager! We are pleased to tell you that your order has been shipped on 09/20/07 16:51:13.
Ordered mine on 9/12, ready to ship 9/18, changed configuration 9/19 and out the door two days later. I can't find anything negative about dealing with Sager direct. Looks like I'll have mine next Tuesday. -
OK...I do have some concern about my purchasing from Sager direct. I'd better hope that I don't have any issues with my PC from 8:30PM EST on Friday till 10:30AM Monday. I don't know what I was thinking. I opted out of buying a desktop from a reseller when I realized their Tech Support hours were 9:00 - 5:00 Monday through Friday.
Guess I got excited after finding a PC that I was willing to pay for (after shopping for a year), and didn't do enough research on it before pulling the trigger on the order. My original plan was to buy from Xotic (I didn't even know about Power Notebooks or any other resellers), and I think I was just asking Sager some questions and they asked if I wanted to place the order and I said OK. Oh Well...it's not like there are ever problems with new model releases.
I guess that I could always exercise my 30 day return policy if I'm not comfortable with this level of Tech Support for the coming years. Being a Service Manager myself...I'd feel pretty crappy doing that, but...I'll admit to feeling kinda sick to my stomach about the deal at the moment. -
-
I already spoke to Sager about it. They promised that I have a 30 day return policy if I needed to send it back. I may be over reacting a bit here. I've had my current PC since 98 and that warranty through Gateway ran out in 2001. So for the past 6 years, I've needed no "Tech Support" to fix anything wrong with it.
From all I've read, Sager is very reputable and I shouldn't be expecting to have any problems with the new laptop. Most issues I've come across in the past several years are software related...but I'm not going to discount the possibility of problems. I worry about it if and when they happen. -
According to UPS Tracking, my laptop has taken more than 36 hours to go from California to Dallas. Wtf? It's like an 8 hour drive at the most.
-
-
I think USPS would have better service. -
Do you know how long it takes to read through 47 pages of posts to try and find pictures of members 2090's that are more than the same 5-6 views that Sager displays, on a 9 year old PC running 98SE? Like 40+ minutes! My only saving grace is that I'm not on dial up...grrrr...lol.
And to think...I'm simply looking forward to playing my favorite games from years ago.
Pro Pinball: Timeshock, Big Race USA, Fantastic Journey
Acclaim: RE-VOLT
Empire: SHEEP (with true to life Artificial Stupidity)
I really have no patience for role play games...though I'm sure they'll find their way onto my laptop anyway.
From what I've been able to gather, it appears that all of these will run on XP Pro. One thing I'm wondering though. I've only had a 10G HD up until now. Is it possible to copy an entire CD to the HD and run the games from there instead of through the CD ROM (or DVD in this case)? -
I remember you used to be able to pick the No-Cd option sometimes for games. I don't think it's offered as much anymore in order to prevent piracy.
98SE. Man, the good ole days... -
w00t finally got my sager! i checked the site yesterday and it was still pre order pending item arrival. and i just got it today. wont have time to play with it until 4amish cuz it's my bady party tonite!
-
Well it appears that I have no reason to feel shorted on Tech Support availability. After looking at some of the reseller's sites, they state Monday - Friday Tech Support hours and Customer Service being available 24/7.
Customer Service is not Tech Support. I'm not trying to bash anybody here. I was only researching to see if there was anything to gain by shipping the notebook that I'll have on Tuesday back to Sager and purchasing through a reseller instead. I feel much better now. I have the same support options as everybody else.
Ya know what? This deserves a -
i have to wait the weekend while mine sits in some warehouse in sioux falls. a 40 minute drive away...

Edit:
Someone being an employee at whoever you bought from, Xotic, PNB, Sager, etc. -
-
Just to clarify, XoticPC is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, which is definitely not on the east coast. They are also not based in LA. Sager is based in Industry, CA (Los Angeles County).
-
hmm... I'm too anxious to get my hands on my new lappy. -
I'm not sure if I sure be asking this here or in a different thread, but could anybody recommend a wireless router to go with the new notebook?
Thanks, Walt -
-
I have had experience with Linksys, D-Link, and Cisco 800 series (kinda pricey) but I like them all. The D-Link is pretty nice and usually fairly inexpensive for a wireless/wired solution. Linksys was swallowed up by Cisco a few years back so they're pretty good too, but I think they tend to cost a little more (but not too bad).
-
What kind of specs would I be looking for to roam my apartment without having to worry about losing connection speed?
-
i got a netgear wgr614 for a pretty good deal $25bucks used.
-
I posted this in the Networking/Wireless section of the forum as well. I'm really leaning towards this TRENDnet TEW-631BRP. I don't have any issues with spending $80 if it's going to get the job done. All input is welcome and appreciated.
Thanks, Walt -
xotic is in nebraska?
>_< i should of of ordered directly from sager, i dint realize they were in the city of industry, which is like 20-30 minutes form my house.
For some strange reason it takes like a whole week to get stuff with normal shipping from the city of industry. It seems like fedex gets the item from the city of industry, brings it to a shipping center a couple of hours away, then sends it to my house. -
If you had ordered from Sager itself, you would be nailed with sales tax, since you live in California.

Hey all,I got my Sager 2090 a week ago.Today when I switched on the computer,my FP reader wasn't recognised.I uninstalled and reinstalled the Fingerprint software but no results. Its been this way every time I restart the comp.It says "No fingerprint reader.Connect FP reader to USB or enable device" .In device manager,my FP reader is not listed.I really hope its not a hardware issue coz there's no way something like this can suddenly happen.I'm really tensed as my parents could find out any minute and screw my happiness......
Thanks in advance and hoping for a reply soon..... -
Has anyone else noticed that PNB no longer has the 2090 listed as "backordered-2 to 3 weeks?" I don't know about y'all, but that makes me excited.

Ah, well, thanks for clarifying then, Donald. Apologies to those who ordered the WSXGA. I spoke too soon.
-
Ok, at long last I finally have my 2090! Haven't even seen it yet, the wife just txt'd me to let me know that it's arrived. Looks like I'm going to have to get out of work early today.
-
AWWWW, congrats man. I hope mine ships soon. Ordered a WXGA screen and it looks like they are in stock now. Now I just need to wait to see where I am in line and hope it gets built/shipped soon.
-
Mine showed up this morning at our other warehouse (I'm at work at the moment). I'm anxiously awaiting it to make it's way up to my office.
-
i'm still trying to figure out how to get my webcam working with Aim, and trillian.
-
Hah, I got a message from Justin saying that my check has been received and my lappy will be shipping shortly after it clears. I wish the order status would be updated on the website though, I'm so anxious!
-
Well I cut out a couple hours early from work and have went through and setup / optimized vista, AV, and spybot. So far I'm very pleased with the 2090, everything worked right out of the box, the screen is beautiful, (WXGA), and the whole laptop seems very solid / well constructed. While I haven't had a chance to load up any games yet my over all impression of the laptop is very favorable.

Some pictures would be nice!

Hey guys,
I ordered a 5760 a few months back when they were being discontinued. I found that the screen was not bright enough for me due to its size and only having 1 lamp. So I ended up returning it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the 2090 would have a brighter screen since its a smaller size? I know I am sacrificing GPU power going with this model but brightness is a huge factor for me. Thanks.
