Trust me , even when surfing, the temp rises in both the CPU and the GPU ...it`s a known fact that without a fan the temp would just increase till a damage point.

eleron911 is correct...you need to let the fans do their work. If you don't, you risk motherboard damage over time. The CPU will turn itself off when it gets to a certain temperature to protect itself, but if you are constantly doing that due to having the fans turned off, you still risk causing heat damage to other components.

The bottom line is...don't do it if you value your warranty, and your laptop.

All users would not be as careful as you might be...if the fans were fully controllable there would be too many people that didn't control them carefully and too much damage would result.

Just use RM CPU Clock Utility to aply an lower multiplier and lower voltages... on mine the CPU fan shuts off completely... even at 2.4Ghz...

600Mhz and 0.85V e all you need... its suficient on net stuff...

    For falcon2claw:
"and hehe, might as well just write this here: Does anyone else's AC powerbrick hum like crazy? high pitched humming noise"
I have the same "situation" with mine, but now it seems that the noise started also inside the computer.
Also after flashing with last firmware, the keyboard became unresponsive sometimes

^^^ only in certain outlets.. normally no.. but i have 2 outlets in the house that it hums with i have tested them both though and they are fine.. so im not sure why it hums in those two..

one thing is if you have certain types of lighting on the same circuit as the outlet you are using this will cause the humming on the ac power bricks.. floures light especially..

the keyboard issue is different im looking more into the bios now.. i actually have it open as i type this on another pc.. im trying to figure out what would cause this.. i can say there are tons of options in here and there should be a fix for this.. i dont personally see anything in particular though that would cause this everything appears to be okay.. i do see where the fan settings are now..

I have a link to an update and a hunch it is for the keyboard. Is it? Has anyone tried it? Or do I mix it up with the fan updates?

    ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M57xRU/57RUEC07.zip

My keyboard also misses a lot of strokes...very annoying.

No I don't think it is the normal old bios update (1.00.07) since I got the link in the same mail from my retailer as the link to the 1.00.08 bios update. They are two different updates I think. I wonder if it is a keyboard update? That's what is implied in the mail anyhow.

By the way, here is the bios update 1.00.08 from a reliable source (Clevo):
    ftp://sftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M57xRU/57RU_108.zip

BTW it's a little offtopic. I have the sager 5791. Anyone know if we can adpat the new bottom plate and the copper piece of the 5792-93 to it and so where can i buy these spare parts ? thank you.

zfactor the upgrade worked good. But this laptop is always noisy. I only tried the BIOS update because of the FAN noise. I already did the firmware update. Maybe I should redo it again.
My FANS Are running fast @ 30°C which is i think really ridiculous. I always have to press FN+1 twice to turn the fan slow speed. I really miss a soft like I8kfanGUI. And last note I can't use any other software because I am on windows x64.

BTW Did you have any news from sager about the spare parts ?

Thank you very much for your help.

they should only run fast like that for a short time after booting it up then once at temps they should go down some. pressing fn+1 one time is set to high if im right and fn+1 a second time sets it to auto.

which bios did you use since ive posted numerous ones some with the sager logo?? just curious

Sorry for being ignorant.... but can someone point me to all the fan functions... I'm using them but I feel lost.... I know there's Justin's and Donald's post somewhere.... explaining all the functions.... I know Fn+2 is to turn the SRS WOW effect on/off.... What about 1 & 3 ?

    fn + 1 = high. fn + 1 again = normal auto mode.
    fn + 3 = medium

I was using the original BIOS. I don't remember the revision number it was. Now I have the xx.08 BIOS (with stylenote image during the boot) and the 1.00.07Sh firmware update.

if you have the .08 bios there is no need for the .07. but if it works i guess?? the .08 is the most up to date one with all the fixes in it. imo i would just flash the .08 version.

there are many thing this bios can do.. but im trying to get the hardware to work with it. the hardware is much more limited than the bios is..

I posted this in another thread, but since it's relevant to this topic, here it is again:

When the full mode is on, the smaller fan also spins faster than it does with the Fn+3 mode, but there's no vibration for the former. As soon as I hit Fn+3, the fan slows down and makes a whining sound, accompanied by vibration. Does anyone else have this issue? The vibration is most apparent near the top right corner of the frame, near the asterisk key.

I told you ghostbear, check if you have ramping up and down in the noise, or in the Riva TUner temp graph. If you do,you MOST CERTAINLY do not have the latest one and have to flash to it.

Thanks again, for your attention also eleron911 and for your direct-link zfactor.
But the problem is there are the models 579x and only 5792/3 has a firmware and that is 1.00.07sh version not the sf.

I think I learnt how to flash from one of your guides.
I'll ask two things for sure,
    1) will I burn the firmware to a cd too and flash it with the indications on boot-up just like the bios ?
    2) which of two I should flash update firstly
    3) and could I save a backup of my current bios and firmware in case of sth unexpectable or a problem like vibration, and restore it via a cd like I flash the bios to a newer version, that is to say could I downdate my bios and firmware also ?

Sorry if this has been asked before (I don't have the time to read those 61 pages :p ): is this a 'Sager only' update, or can you also use it with a regular M570RU?
The reason I ask this is because I'd really like to buy a Sager NP5793 / Clevo M570RU. Now, I live in Belgium, so I can
    1) have sager or xoticpc ship the notebook to me. But then I won't have any service! If something breaks, I have to send it all the way back.
    2) buy a clevo M570RU from novatech, schenker,...

The NP5793 and M570RU are identical anyways, it's just this fan update I'm worried about. Are these fan updates only for Sagers? Thus, is the NP5793 more quiet than the M570RU?

I recommend Novatech or Kobalt computers, Neil@Kobalt could help you in that regard, they have a pan-european warranty that pays shipping both ways in Europe :D
The "updated firmware" works on ANY M57xRU based system, since it was done by CLEVO.

Did you change your gpu from 8700m gt to 8800m gtx ?
Is it possible I don't know. I've 8700m gt but I will upgrade to 9 or 10 series when it'll be real necessary. If possible then it'll be great because mxm format isn't very useful right now and you cannot buy a only-gpu instead of a new notebook. How did you do that, buy a 8800m gtx and replace?
