Really now, it`s not loud you say? :)
Since you don`t want improvement and you`re fine with dishing 2.5k $ on a laptop that makes more noise than a washing machine, that is your problem. But I want to use it as a laptop,it`s why I bough a LAPTOP and not a desktop.
To be able to carry it with me anywhere , anytime and game whenever I feel like it. As long as it`s noisy, I can`t use it for study, and I study more than I game.
What`s wrong with wanting it to be as silent as an HP when doing basic stuff?

Man mine is so silent, when browsing i use the vista power manager and use power saver profile, then use auto fans and its soooo quiet, im using the first firmware as well. Im thinking the people with the loud noise dont have an 8800m gtx and this is causing an issue somehow, as my gpu downclocks itself also. Hmmm im at a loss as to why yours is so loud eleron?

Nothing wrong with it :D ...I'll trade my silent fans for your brighter screen. :)

If yours is that 1 video on youtube i saw then yours would be louder than mine.

I think one consideration should be that you have a 5793 and Eleron has a M570RU/5791. I suspect the different cases/internals have a hand in the differences in noise levels.

I'm hoping that the new M570TU will have a quieter fan or cooling system in general. Maybe it'll be basically the same as the 5793 but with a better fan, esp. considering how closely Clevo and Sager pay attention to the users' complaints about the current noise levels.

The latest version on Sager's website is 1.00.07Sg. (nothing required to use it) You can update just the firmware without updating the bios.

    Don`t use .g as it`s not a big leap from .f .
One thing to note with the latest firmwares, if you use Fn+3 , the fans will not revert to auto mode and the temps will increase a lot. If you`re gaming, force them back on auto.

    BMW135i , I wouldn`t trade my screen for anything :D
If there will be an upgrade program to switch to the 570TU, I`ll take that. If not, I`ll take the 93 casing and ask for a third fan. I`m hoping the sollution lies in one of those choices...
I gave up on the firmwares.

Well, so far so good. No vibrations on low fan, and fn+f3 is very quiet. I've only tested the cpu fan in auto mode so far, but it ramps up nice and slow to full speed when under full load. Cpu fan doesn't go to high in fn+f3 mode even when under full load, so it looks like you still might have to use auto mode or full to game.

    EDIT:
Well, it looks like in auto mode, the gpu fan slowly ramps up to full speed when the gpu is put under stress. The ramping up of the fans when browsing and doing nothing still occur at times, but are much quieter than before.

I recall other posts in the past about some folks getting virus warnings when d/l'ing updates from Sager - it's probably an overactive anti-virus program getting upset about the d/l being packed or self-unzipping.

Thanks for your huge help forwarding this matter to Clevo/Sager engineers...

I will try it as soon as I can(to much work now)...

Yap, no worries about that... maybe it´s because the build in MS-DOS libraries used to run the flash utility on the bootable CD.

Yah, Some AV software gets really nervous around anything that even "smells" like it might do something by itself or pull another app out of itself (I'm thinking Alien :D ). I tried to d/l an open-source compiler with IDE on a computer at work once (shhhh! ;) ) and the d**ned AV kept freaking out and sending little tattle-notes to IT (another good reason to always be nice to your company's staff, you never know when you'll need someone who's kindly disposed toward you).

the FN3 doesnt crank istself up when gaming, but maybe thats because its already running ar similar noise and speed as the defualt G version?

I think the 579x is going to fade out in history as one of noisiest laptops lol...
It`s sad to hear that even .h version is still worthless.
However I will test it myself on Monday, upload a youtube video and you guys will be able to see for yourselves how and what.
I just performed a dust cleaning job on my laptop. So the noise got even bigger since the dust was atenuating the noise somehow, but the good part about it that temps have gone down.
    A lot. Playing UT3 for over 2 hours,CPU temp(61C-remember UT3 uses the cpu A LOT,close to 95% at all times) and GPU 55C :D
I guess I`ll have to get a stinkin EEE PC...with an Atom CPU and flash memory... :(

As I said before, the noise problem probably cannot be fixed with software alone, because it is mostly due to the fans and air path through the laptop.

LOL..Same here. I went through 2 cooling pads with my zd8000, and not only was it loud, it was hot.

Is the 5793 as loud as the 5790? How does it compare to the zd8000 in you opinion?

Yea, it got very hot on the right palm area. I loved that laptop, though; just wish it had a video card better than the x600 :(

I don't know about the 5793 vs 5790; I only have had experience with the latter. I will say that the 5790 is much quieter (and cooler, for that matter) than the zd8000. It's got some noise, no doubt, and if using one of these firmwares I hit fn+1 and go all out it gets quite loud indeed, but idle and/or browsing the fans only cycle up occasionally and even then its not that bad, at least for me, and when gaming it doesn't really matter anyway.

My wife has a Dell d630 for work and -that- thing is quiet; you can't even tell it's on half the time. Of course, you really can't compare the two, because then np5790 is much more powerful.

I have a zalmon nc1000 cooling pad I use sometimes, and with its fans on high it's actually louder than my laptop on idle, even with the fans cycling up. I only really use it for games, the rest of the time I just like it for the incline.

Will Vista SP1 make the power consumtion go down (aka heat) perhaps lowering the noise problem while browsing and such?

It seems as if the power consumtion is one target area for the service pack. Has anyone tried it yet?

Honestly, I must be deaf or something. It's not that bad. In auto-mode, it's no louder than my desktop when browsing and doing other non-intensive stuff. I might just have a loud desktop...

For me, it's only in full speed mode (fn+f1) when it makes a LOT of noise.

Well, I've been using the sp1 beta for months now, and just this week installed the final version.

I didn't really keep track, but really, it does seem to not cycle up as much. Then again, I've got a new baby in the house and am not gaming as much, so it could be as much of that as anything.

As I'm typing this, I heard a fan cycle up, but it was only for like 10s and it wasn't loud at all (nothing like fn+1). And I'm sitting in a quiet room with no TV on or anything. *shrugs*

I really don't know what the big deal is, unless people are really used to using 'business' laptops like my wife's, which make zero noise. Unless the Dell version of the np5790 is that quiet, which I'd be surprised if it was...

Still, I'm glad Sager is taking the time to work on this. I do like having manual control over the fans, in case I need it.

From discussions here, the 5793 seems less loud than the 5790/1 . Must be the extreme casing and bigger heatsink, if that`s the case.
I know software ain`t gonna fix it fully, but it might help. From the standard version Sager has gone a long way, and seemingly better.
I`m waiting until tomorrow and will try the latest firmware myself and decide if the way the laptop is depends only on the fans themselves of the speed at which they run.

For some reason I was unable to download the firmware, kept dropping the speed. I will try it and upload a video sometime in the coming 2 days, since I have heard some positive remarks about it on the net.
I hope they fixed the revert to auto mode when gaming issue.70C for the GPU and CPU got me worried 2 days ago when I forgot it on while playing UT3 :D

That is the BIOS version mate ;) But never the less, you atleast got the newest BIOS, tho it dosent say anything about the KBC/EC-firmware (which is discussed in this topic) :) But must admit it is hard to see, which is which, as they got roughly same version numbers

This is the conclusion ive come to. Please correct me if im wrong :)
