!!!!ULTRA OBVIOUS POST COUNT COMBO!!!!
I think this topic can chill for another week. Let's see what transpires til then. -
-
would everyone just shut up
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Does this count?
-
@Donald, did you say that? This guy has been spreading the word that m860tu won't support 8800m gtx, and claimed it was stated by you.
-
He probably hit the 9 by accident.
-
-
Maybe in his mind he mistaken the 9800 for the 8800 thus put that in all his posts ? Iunno dont think Paladin would say something like that.
-
anyway it was clearly stated here by clevo that it would support the 8800m GTX
-
I am, of course, 100% positive that 8800m gtx will be on m860tu. But I need to wait for Donald's word before I flame that guy.
-
Someone put up a big picture of the Clevo M860TU specs from that show so we can disprove this Alienware Fanboy who could most likely be collecting a stipend for his slander.
Edit: Never mind, I did it. -
Isn't the 8800M GTX also stated as available in the user manual of the M860TU released by Eurocom? I didn't think this was in dispute : originally (before the matters of the 9800M and quad-core popped out) the whole point of the M860TU was the 8800M GTX in a 15.4' laptop.
-
Yeah, there is no question that the M860TU supports the 8800MGTX.
-
To think, it actually comes 'standard' with the laptop. As opposed to the m15x, that comes with the 8600GT standard.
-
I am just curious what makes him think that Donald had said it.
-
He's taking it out of context for his own gain. Unless there was a mention of Donald saying that if Clevo said the 8800m GTX was not going in the m860tu, they would abide by it and just say tough luck.
But for certain, Donald never said or confirmed that the 8800m GTX would not be in the m860tu. -

Ok, here is what I said in this post http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3520769&postcount=2298
"It would be best to wait until it is officially launched to see what cards are available.
Who knows. Maybe the 8800M GTX won't even be one of them."
Now, it is not at all surprising that Heathkidd, who can't write an intelligible sentence, would somehow interpret that to mean that the M860TU would not SUPPORT the 8800M GTX...which of course is not at all what it says.
Please take note that I said that it may not be available once the final production product is launched. Which could mean for example that nothing but nVIDIA 98xx cards or ATi cards would be available...
What it does mean is that until it is officially launched no one (including PCMW) really knows whether the 8800M GTX will or won't be offered (although it could easily be supported if Clevo chose to do so), or exactly what cards will actually be offered.
Just consider how many cards PCMW has offered, and then removed, so far
Bottom line is Heathkidd's entire premise is flawed based on my statement being totally misinterpreted. -
heathkid is a bit of an alienware fanboy. he wants the clevo, but doesnt want to leave the prospects of getting a flashy alienware.
-
Anyone know dimensions on the 860?
-
Don`t mind Heathkid, he`s a troll FOS.
-
since we are talking bout 9800GTX in this thread have any of you guys seen this http://legitreviews.com/article/737/1/ hmm looks like a rice burner but how well will it perform against our sagers ay..??
-
It'll do pretty decent but will be subjected to the bane that is bloatware that companies like Toshiba and Dell love to lace in their products.
The m570tu will beat it, and will beat it stink. -
-
-
Any reason you plan on getting that over hte 5796?
-
there are few so far:
1) better position/quality of speakers, plus it got 4 of them
2) dual HDDs
3) better styling to me, black/red combo
4) no need to spend $ for paint job -
The dual hdd is a total need for the Ru/Tu . But Clevo won`t make it happen , it`s crap.
The RUs speakers also need replacement, they`re terrible. -
So has anyone heard from PCMW it is the last week of June so they should have entered the construction period.. On a side note they took down the ETA from their website guess that means more delays. Surprise Surprise!!
-
As always, I really enjoy your posts and your hands-on approach to the community.
I'm hoping to pick up one of the new Clevo models in the Uk when it's released. I think understand the conclusion to your post, i.e. that everyone (other than Clevo) is speculating until the release date.
That being said, can you please help me understand the precise difference a card not being "supported" and it not being "available" (particularly in the context of the 8800GTX which I had thought had been available for some time now) - I apologise if it's a silly request?
Many thanks,
Petrov. -
If it`s not supported, it won`t be available. It`s as simple as that...
-
How could the 8800GTX not be "available", as it's already been around for a long time? If your statement is true and my assumption is true (that 8800GTXs are generally "available" in the market), doesn't that mean that the only way the 8800GTX may be "unavailable" is that it is "not supported" on the m860tu? Have I missed something really obvious or are we playing semantics?
Petrov. -
8800m GTX will be available and supported on m860tu!

What Donald is trying to get at is there is little " Confirmed" information available at this time. We don't know if it will be only the 9 Series GPU being offered or a mixed offering of the 8800M GTX and 9 series GPU's.
-
Nirvana, stop screaming
Petrov, the best advice anyone can give you right now is to wait 2 more weeks. And then you`ll have all the info you need.
It`s hard, I know, but it`s worth it.2 weeks. -

Supported means it could work in the M860TU, but only if Clevo OFFERS it in that model. If Clevo does not offer it as an option then it would be supported but not available.
The point is they may well only want to offer and make available some of the nVIDIA 98xx series cards and/or ATi cards. Since this is a new model with a new platform it would only seem logical that they would want to move on to next generation video cards.
I hope that further clarifies my comments...but let's not forget this is only speculation at this point, and no matter how loudly anyone tries to shout about what will or won't be made available by Clevo as options in the M860TU, no one, actually including Clevo, knows for sure yet. Were it otherwise the information would have been released already. -
Petrov. -
Petrov you can rest assured that the 8800mgtx will be supported. Even on the release poster for the m860tu it advertised the 8800mgtx along with the other montevina specs.

minkang, please do not rely on the pre-release poster from several months ago...that was pre-release information.
Having been in this business for so many years I learned quite early that you cannot rely on the pre-release information that is spread around at those shows. By the time the production product actually begins shipping things can and do change with great regularity. It is predictable that pre-release specifications will rarely be the same once the product begins shipping. -
I am most curious about the m860tu's ability to deal with the 8800GTX heat, if it were to support it. I hope it doesn't rely on a driver solution.
Petrov.
Sager has confirmed with Clevo that the M860TU will not support 44W+ processors or the 9800M GTX because of the thermal budget!
