The Sager NP8660 will begin shipping in very late July, but more likely it will be in early August.
Orders will be shipped first come first served based on the date and time payment is received. -
As an aside - for my info, is the title of this thread still true as far as everybody understands it (Donald, Justin...)?
Petrov. -

Yes it is still accurate.
-
SO where`s the news?

Would it be breaking your NDA to let us know approx how many units you will be receiving? Because I won't be able to get home from work any earlier than 130PST, and I really need to get this laptop before college starts on the 17th of August, so if I don't get the first batch I'm pretty much done =O.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
The number of units in stock would do you no good really without knowing the volume of orders.
Just place your order ASAP and if you have until the 17th of August you should be fine, but you may need to expedite your shipping method depending on where you are. -
Alrighty, thanks. I Also just noticed the NDA moved up notice, which made me really happy =D
-
I'm glad to see these options and can't wait for the upgrades.
-
Hi - any way to check on an estimated shipping date once I've placed an order? I've just placed one through XoticPC. -ponder-
-
- Send a PM to [email protected];
- Send an email to [email protected], or an email to their sales department; or
- Call Xoticpc at 1-(877) BUY XOTIC PC (1-877-289-9684) option 1, or (402) 466-2090 (not toll-free)

Have fun,
Trance -
From there, Microsoft has added this really neat little functionality to WinXP which lets me run my cursor over some text on a webpage, hit CTRL+C, move to a different webpage, say a webform, hit CTRL+V, and get the text from the first page magically copied, verbatim (other than certain formatting characteristics), onto the second page. You should try it out sometime, I think you'll enjoy it.
EDIT: In addition, if you'd like to try and castigate me for simply disclosing the truth regarding PCMW, please confine it to the appropriate thread, and I would ask, for the sake of not having posts deleted, that you avoid ad-hominem attacks such as this one. -
Trance, I think the bickering should stop now.
Shyster is doing an amazing job in presenting known facts, with arguments, not beliefs.
So please be mature about it.
And don`t pick on XoticPC,nor on "previous stinky posts" , they have members here on the forum, and they're "contact us" is not exactly a state secret.
Keep it cool -
To prevent this tongue-in-cheek post from sparking even more unfounded wildfire, I would like to make the following disclaimer:
PowerNotebooks.com has no collaborators on the NBR forums. We are happy to speak for ourselves here. We DO have satisfied customers on the NBR forums, who are more than happy to speak for themselves. We do not bribe any members of any forum or other media outlet, public or private, with cash, computers, or any other form of compensation.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum post:
Just to further dispel the accusations that seem to be hurtling toward Shyster about being a collaborator with "other resellers" or with "Sager resellers," you need look no further than his signature. Do you REALLY think PowerNotebooks, XoticPC, or Sager would let a collaborator keep using a gerbil-powered notebook? -
Lol.
Shyster1 is a man that works in the law bussiness, and that says it all -
Gerbil powered notebooks is actually a top secret model.
-
Curses, you've figured out our secret plan for laptop market domination.
One day, we WILL harness the power of the gerbil-PC in notebook form  -
anyone seen this pic?
-
XD for like 3 seconds I thought that said "Pentium 2" and I was like haha..ha? And THEN I realized it said Centrino 2
-
Anybody expecting theirs soon ?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
They won't be in the US until early August.
-
I see. I guess this answers another thread also.
-
The 9800M GT is currently supported, right? And there doesn't seem to be that large of a performance gap between the two?
-
That is correct.
-
It depends what you mean by large gap. 20-25% is expected.
-
The only difference is in the number of unified shaders, 96 vs 112, so the difference in processing power should be ~15%?
-
-
It`s more than 10% dude, it`s the difference from 1280x800 to 1440x900 or more.
-
eleron911= sought after insight.
-
I'm sure this is an inane question, but I haven't overclocked a notebook GPU for the longest time...
Is there any basis to suspect whether the 9800M GT will be overclockable? I ask because I understood Sager/Clevo have a reputation for being relatively conservative when it comes to thermal tolerance, so I wondered whether there may be some capacity to overclock the 9800GT to levels closer to the 9800M GTX without inducing an m15x-like meltdown?
Thanks,
Petrov. -
every GPUs are overclockable.
-
You can use:
-Ntune
-Ati tool
-Riva Tuner
-EVGA OCing utility
-Flashing
for Ocing...
Be advised,OCing reduces the lifespan of the components and increases heat. -
well is this mean there will be new model coming soon? b/c the NP8660 can't support it.. later newer GPU AND CPU coming in NP8660 will be coming useless right?
-
Nehalem? Yes. There will probably be another release next year.
-
-
sound reasonable
, but what if buyer wanted the 44W+ processors or the GTX in the NP8660.. do you guys think, sager will make it?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
^--^
Sager has confirmed with Clevo that the M860TU will not support 44W+ processors or the 9800M GTX because of the thermal budget.
So the simple answer is no. -
Pretty please with sugar on top?
-
The 5792 wasn't suppose to support xtreme cpu's either, I'm sure they will release a updated model at some point, to handle the heat.
-
Maybe, maybe not. By popular demand though, I`m sure it will happen. And the whole m15x fiasco will re-take place
-
too bad it will come to the same conclusion. That thing had so many issues, that they would have to change it so much that it would not be the "it which should not be named" anymore -
If Sager has confirmed that the M860TU wont support 44W+, so why the heck is deviltech.de offering a X9100 NOW? (Intel® Core 2 Extreme Processor X9100 / 6MB L2 Cache, 3.06GHz, 1066MHz FSB [+579€])
Is the X9100 100% a 44W ??
best regards
a M860TU lurker =) -
PCMW and eurocom were offering th quad long after the confirmation was named, but it didnt come true then, so it may not even come true now. no one has even dealt with deviltech yet i think. Even if they did somehow make it work properly, if anything happened and deviltech did not feel like dealing with any repairs themselves and told you to bugger off, clevo will not give you ANY help, since they never allowed that cpu to be used. -
2.) DevilCare have to repair the laptop! (no charge of spare parts, work, shipping etc)
Beside that, didn´t Sager took the 128GB SSD out of the 860TU line?
best regards -

Maybe German law says they can't do it...but how are you going to make them do it? Bottom line is if they say no, it would cost you more to force them to do it than the cost of the notebook.
Yes, Sager withdrew the OCZ SSD drives. How does that relate? -
In that case, however, they weren't supporting overclocking in the NP5792...if you wanted to spend the money for a non-overclockable Extreme Edition CPU, you could still throw it in the system.
Clevo has said that the 44+W processors are simply out of the thermal budget, which means that even a model magically updated to provide all the cooling required probably would not support the Extreme CPUs, because overclocking places even more strain on the thermal budget. -
2) Because they offer:
64 GB SATA Solid State Drive [+249]
128 GB SATA Solid State Drive [+429]
So I think they are a) complettely outated or b) ingenious (they also offer a internal dvb-t tuner)
Next week i´ll going to germany and there i will inform me if the company is morely a) or b)
best regards -
Schenker Laptops (XMG5) mysn.de is now offering also a X9100, a 64GB SSD and you can choose between 8800M GTX / 9800M GT ... WTF!
Sager has confirmed with Clevo that the M860TU will not support 44W+ processors or the 9800M GTX because of the thermal budget!
