So according to Santech, the W86 comes standard as 1366x768, with 1600x900 as a premium upgrade. I'm wondering if a standard 1920x1080 LED will fit in there.
I must have one of these. I've decided that it's unavoidable.
-
Isn't 1920x1080 to much for a 15.6" screen??
-
Only if you think 1920x1200 is too much for a 15.4" screen.
I want at least 1000 vertical. -
Why do you need 1000 vertical pixels? -
Why not?

I'm also looking to purchase one of these. I was interested in the M860ETU w/ Q9000 but if I can get more bang for my buck with the lowest entry i7 processor waiting another 2 months isn't going to be a problem.
I wonder how much the next Nvidia card will be, it doesn't look like it will be released with the first Calpella platform, maybe sometime in the first half of 2010. I guess this would be a question for another topic, but considering the 260M is a fully capable card, would upgrading to the newer card say in 6 months or so be worth it? Directx11 should be coming into play.
Anyways, I've been following these forums with heightened anticipation. Going to be ordering a sager/clevo mid-late october.

And here I was thinking 1920x1080 would be bad.

Clevo W860CU specs:
should be easier for everyone to see. -
I'm surprised you haven't scolded me for chasing the latest tech again.
Chin, are these screens LED? -
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
They probably are.
-
Anyone heard about 3D Panel?
-
In the Santech website, among the Italian news, it's announced that the screen will have LED backlight tecnology
...yes I'm so kind to translate it for you!
BTW, around the touchpad it'll we syntethic skin matherial...what do you think about that??
@Kevin
You are right, I love multitasking too, but for that I have always a second monitor plugged in when at home!! More confortable to have 1M more pixel
Sorry for this horrible English but I just woke up... -
I could do without the "bumpy" material on the palmrest area, it just looks out of place on such a sleek looking laptop.
I think the first picture was one of the first prototypes and I have seen other pictures that have a more smooth surface on that area hopefully the final production unit will have the smoother matte surface. -
The textured palmrest is gone, evidenced in post #14.
-
I didn't notice it!!! That's great!!! Now the design is perfect for me
I have just to wait and see the prices by Notebookguru, Kobalt, Novatech and Deviltech... -

Support for up to only 4GB of RAM? I wouldn't have guessed they took a step back in that department, as useless as 8GB may be.
-
I don't believe for a second, that there's a RAM restriction built into the hardware. Resellers will be offering 6 and 8GB configs before long.
EDIT: Just checked my M86 User Manual. It also lists "Memory Expandable up to 4GB (1024/ 2048 MB DDRII Modules)". -
In the configuration page of Kobalt computer (regarding M860) is reported :
-
If you always holding you're breath to get the next system and never buy what is currently available, you'll suffocate and never even get to enjoy your laptop.
The NP8662 is a beast, and will still be a beast after this is released don't worry. -
-
Sooooo, how easily to think this thing will handle challenges like a 280M now that the GPU has its own heatsink?
-
-
Is it me or are all the keyboards on the new clevo models (w860cu, w870cu, m980nu) exactly the same... as in they can be used interchangably.
-
The new chicklet style keys all look the same to me.
If only thet were backlit......*sigh* -
backlit.....*drool* -
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
A lot more than what the M860TU can take.

We already know what cpu's will be in there.
I am disappointed that there are no plans for ATI cards -
Will the price drop on the Sager NP8662 when the W860CU is released?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
There was recently a price drop on the 8662 that is now currently running.

I just noticed that buying at Xoticpc, cosidering change $->E and 25% taxes to European people, the NP8662 will be cheaper than buying it in Europe...
Do they send in Europe?? Did any European bought from them?? Do I have to open another thread??

Both PowerNotebooks.com and Xoticpc ship all over the world.
You are still responsible for any Customs or local taxes, and warranty repairs are only done at the US factory so you would have to pay shipping both ways in the unlikely event that you have to send it back for warranty repairs. -
First mobile i7 review.
They test the i7-820M.
Turbo Mode Results:
1 core (100% load) = 3.06Ghz
2 cores = 2.8Ghz
3 cores = 2Ghz
4 cores = 1.73Ghz -
I read that about couple hours ago. 2 core turbo is 2.6Ghz in the pic showing power consumption.
edit: the pic and typed data above it show different values -_-. -
it should be 2.6 for 720m
-
Take a look at deviltech.de for w870cu price
-
And I guess that despite how many/few tasks you give them the i7 will be on top. Give it less the clock speeds increases, give it more and it will manage the load much better still because of it's better multi-tasking abilities. -
I wonder if you can lock the 820M at a certain setting. When using the laptop for Word on battery, I won't be needing much power or speed at all. So I would like to have to option to lock the CPU on like...1.5Ghz on 1 core. Windows 7 should have absolutely no problem running like that at all, and it would save some massive battery time. The review laptop seems to be able to run for more than 3.5 hours, although lower specced than the W860CU, it's an impressive time.
I think I'll wait with buying a new laptop, even though the W860CU doesn't look nearly as good as the M860TU, the i7, dual fans, and better upgradeability make it more then worth to wait for it. -
The i7 is a monster when you consider hyper threading... at 3.2ghz it will destroy dual core applications. If you wanted to be sure, you could set the affinity of the program to one core. I'm sure someone else much like myself will get their hands one of these and let us know
Some Info about W860CU (Pic inside)
