Well, while I'm pretty sure you can't regulate the speeds off the bat, I'm betting some clever programmer will come up with a software solution to provide user control.

I just noticed a countdown in the European Clevo distributor mySN homepage...
It's around 4 days from now, so until the end of i7 NDA...
I don't know german, but it states "Xtreme Mobile Gaming" so it could be either the W860 or W870 (or even both!!!)
Why don't they have an English page too???Do any of you know German??
-
It's for both, notice the images in the background. The dialogue - cheesy marketing slogans like 'The next dimension of gaming' 'Beginning of a new revolution' etc, etc, barf, barf.
-
I saw the images on background, but there were too much out of focus to understand something...
The prices of mySN are pretty good, so maybe I'll find a good deal for the W860!! -
-

Sounds like it will help mitigate the problem. -
-
Services from Mysn is muh better than Guru.
-
Still waiting an answer from them where I asked if they provide UK or USA keyboard for theyr notebooks...
There is no way for me to buy a German layout keyboard!!
@kaltmond
How do you now about the mySN service?? -
You can have other keyboard, but you have to pay for it at mySN.
Otherwise, look at deviltech.de, they don't charge for different keyboard, and their service is as great as mySN.
Avoid Guru, they have bad reputation... -
The problem with mySN and Deviltech.de are an absence of an English website, but they are both in my checklist of European Clevo distributors...
This list is organized with in order of importance 1)Updated Notebooks, 2)Prices, 3)English website
1 - NotebookGuru
2 - mySN (new entry)
3 - Deviltech
-------------------------From here medium-high prices
4 - Kobalt Computers
5 - Novatech
6 - XXODD
-------------------------From here very high prices
7 - CIZMO!
8 - Santech
-------------------------From here not updated notebooks
9 - BTO Notebooks
10 - Rock
11 - DPC Tech
12 - Pointer Systems
I check this very list every day, trying to configure a standard M860 (the NB I would buy right now), and soon I'll check configuration and prices for the new W860, giving daily updates for European customers
p.s.
If anybody needs a blueray reader the Novatech prices are the best ones!!! -
Geez man. You don't even have Overclockers (OCUK) on that list!
Check out their Custom Notebooks section. That's the one to keep an eye on. They've also been talking about the W860CU too on their forum. I can tell you for sure that OCUK won't have the new ranges in as soon as everyone else. For some reason they don't order them in when everyone else does. However they are the cheapest UK Clevo OEM at the moment and when the models do land @ OCUK, they ship them VERY quickly - normally within 48 hours if desired. -
I didn't have Overclockers because they were not on the Clevo Guide v 2.0. Nice find man!!! Updated list:
1A - NotebookGuru
1B - Overclockers UK
2 - mySN (new entry)
3 - Deviltech
-------------------------From here medium-high prices
4 - Kobalt Computers
5 - Novatech
6 - XXODD
-------------------------From here very high prices
7 - CIZMO!
8 - Santech
-------------------------From here not updated notebooks
9 - BTO Notebooks
10 - Rock
11 - DPC Tech
12 - Pointer Systems
p.s.
Kudos for Oiad! -

The Clevo Guide is so outdated it's not even funny. Then again, Gophn has been absent for so long that the Clevo forum no longer has a dedicated moderator.
-
Oh man, so people have noticed. No Gophn, no Shyster. Not that this forum is short on sage advice but those guys had the longest and brightest of beards around.
Beforehand, they specialised in 'overclocked' desktop parts, which they still do. Anyone who also bought from them before their rehaul knows that they had a somewhat, fuzzy reputation. It's changed for the better though by quite a bit.
Anyway, I'm rambling waaaay off topic here. W860CU, whoa like awesome!
oh, and cheers for the bonus. Most people, don't bother reading the FAQ when they join the forum so it good to see it in use for once. -
I'm sorry but OCUK has very high price compared with german resellers, it doesn't go in your first category...
-
Read his notes. Price is only one of the factors. Even if he does choose to only start with the base T4200, you can a get a Q900 upwards for cheaper than either OEM's offer.
-
The configuration I always check in every reseller is:
M860 - 1680X1050 screen, the cheaper P8xxx CPU, GTX 260M, 4GB RAM, 500GB 5400rpm HD, DVD reader (no blueray), no OS, WLAN included and UK layout keyboard (great for programming!!).
For this configuration the OCUK's Titan Apollo (horrible name, by the way) is 1188GBP aka 1311EUR, the NBGURU's Guru FIRE is 1309EUR the myNB is 1271, DevilTech is 1287EUR...
BTW, also how good and easy to use is the website is an important factor!! -
-
Well, if they will propose the W860 with an horrible name like "Maximus Pride" but with an affordable price, I would buy it
-
Sorry, I thought the GBP was stronger compared to EUR than that atm ^^
-
While asking for UK keyboard at mySN, I received a confirmation about W860.
The countdown in mySN website (1 day and 3 hours now) is about (also) the W860, that will be called XMG6!!
Now I have just to sit on my and wait for the price -
PcSystem-EvolutionX (a very nice but little known german Clevo reseller) told me that the price of the W860CU will be 80€ higher than the one of the M860TU (both with GTX260M), and the FullHD will be charged 70€.
For information he sells M860TU naked barebone (with GTX260M only) at 974€ on ebay and 1019€ on his website.
So it's around 1050€ for HD+ W860CU barebone =) -
Barebone, meaning with or without the processor?
-
Without CPU RAM and HDD.
-
Exactly, just the "box with screen" + graphic card.
Of course this price is only for european shops =) -
and without dvd/blueray reader, WLAN or bluetooth...
The PcSystem-EvolutionX (horrible website...maybe only on Chrome but horrible anyway) already have the W860 on the catalogue with "Kein Prozessor" (no Processor) over the CPU choose (until tom evening I suppose).
In the M860 configuration panel, you can choose between:
15,6 WSXGA Glare Display 1600x900
15,6 WUXGA Glare Display 1920x1080
so there have to be some mistakes. The price are not so bad, so I would put it in the medium-high price category, if the website was not so crappy... -
ok, with Firefox the website is nice
ah, no Pxxx CPU choice for M860...
and no UK keyboard for any Notebook...-__-
and prices for W860 are higher than Cafeine communicated -
Thinking about all the complaints about the new resolution for this model. It may have some advantages. Okay a scenario if you will:
We have an M860(E)TU and a W860CU. Both have the exact same tune-ups apart from the CPU, obviously. We'll give the M' the QX9300 and the W' an i7-820M.
Both are tested for the frame-rates using a game of any choice, whether multi-threaded or not, though nothing using over 4 threads to be fair. Don't you think the W860CU will achieve higher frame-rates because it has a smaller screen size for the GPU to process through? If so, how noticable do you think it would be? -
120 vertical pixels * 1920 horizontal pixels = 230,400 pixels.
230,400 pixels < 640x480
640x480 = 307,200 pixels
We are talking about a 9% change in resolution, so I would think at the most you might see a 9% boost in frame rate. In the real world you'll see a much smaller change than that. -
It will have mobile i7 and it wont have sli. -
@ The_MOO
mobile I7 confirmed many days ago...
About Sli for M15x will see tomorrow... -
-
-
The website is horrible beacause until maybe 2 weeks it was not used, you had to contact Peter (the boss) to ask for a configuration with updated prices.
His main activity was selling on eBay and locally ( http://stores.shop.befr.ebay.be/EvolutionX-Online-Shop24__W0QQ_armrsZ1)
The prices I gave you were directly from Peter, so I didn't invent them
This website is quite well known on the main "notebook for gamers" forum because of the quality and speed of servive =)
Oh and you can ask for other keyboard if you want, members of the forum got belgian keyboard for M860TU without trouble -
Thanks for the explanation....you weren´t explicit, you know?
-
I have to buy some RAM for this laptop, do you have some advice for speed/brand ?
-
the cheaper dd3 ram on ebay
-
Really ? Speed doesn't matter for overclocking ? If it's possible on these new Clevo's ;p (omg I hope so!)
-
-
i was incorrect in saying it had SLI
i mis read -
Moreover the Sodimm DDR3 is still too expensive IMHO. -

Here is a Vantage score from the new NP8690 (W860CU)
Attached Files:
-
-
This Vantage score is taken with GTX 280M GPU, isn't it???
Vantage GPU score is the same as the 280M in Notebookcheck list.... -
Thanks Justin
-
Yes Sager will only offer GTX280M =o
-
-
Whoa, I missed Justin's post confirming that Sager was using the GTX 280M. Incredible.
